I think the scene of the Viking boats leaving is the most astonishing thing I have ever seen - the series is brilliant - utterly brilliant and the song sung in this video makes me wish I had come from Norsemen heritage....instead, my ancestors probably stood on the shores of Essex in absolute shock and horror at such a sight as the longboats arriving...a fleet like this must have been like seeing the arrival of hell (I can't help feeling excitement though and some weird connection to these people though . Weird!

@@dimitribelov7335 I agree with you - their need to find better homeland for their people mixed with the true meaning of the word 'Viking' meant that it was inevitable that they would acquire brilliant and ingenious battle tactics to attain the goals which exploration of the foreign lands and the death and plunder bought with those goals...it is their courage and lack of fear and the 'Viking mindset' which , for so long, made them unstoppable, successful , feared and has secured their place in history as the victors.

You probably do have viking ancestors )800-1000 C.E) if your family is predominantly from England. If you go back far enough, that is. The norse intermixed with the English multiple times (i.e the Danelaw in England, many norse settlements in Scotland and Ireland), and so much, that many people who can trace their ancestors as far back as the 1400s in the British Isles, still come up with having Scandinavian dna/ancestry. I found a lot of Norse (Norwegian and Danish) ancestors from the English and Scottish sides of the family when I managed to track that side of the family as far back as the 1000-1200s.

Vikings is actually pretty faithful to the Old Norse sagas.

Watching this video makes my Scott - Irish roots come to life. The Vikings settled in Scotland and eventually many Scott’s immigrated to America into the Appalachian mountains. These are my roots. They lived the old way with their own laws of the land. In the last 30 years life there has changed but they hung on to the past for nearly 250 years. . “Wild and Wonderful West Virginia “ “Almost heaven West Virginia “. Go mountaineers”. Powerful video. There is a much proof that the Vikings came to America. I believe this from what I’ve learned in all the different places I’ve lived from the Atlantic north east coast to Minnesota to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan on the shores of northern Lake Superior. The Vikings left mark.

The obsession is from the stimulation of struggle that the characters endure (whether good or bad), which translates to their own destiny in life, and where they had ended up towards the end of their life span. Destiny is just that crazy i guess.

What an incredible project this series was.

Ive been searching my whole life for a religion that fills me. Ive battled certain trials.that crutched my heart,soul,moral compass, etc. It's not until I decided enough is enough and then my mother who is wicca introduced me to nordic / paganism. NOW my life has drastically changed to heal not just myself but others around me. I listen to this song daily and without fail is fills me with strength. I have always admired Vikings, (i wish i could havw been one secretly) but somehow this song reminds me of my country ( Bulgaria) and how fearless and scarry our ancestor warrios have been, its sad we have been Empire, and now the poorest in EU..
