It's a Lost Snapper . Not common to that side of the reef Snapper. Or sometimes called the luck Snapper, only found on that side of the reef.

You should consider the Daiwa Ardito Surf rods come in 12’ in a travel rod configuration for trips like this. I love my 3 piece Ardito inshore in 7’6” length.

Blackfin snapper. We call them Toau in Hawaii. Hawaii imported them in the 1950's from french polynesia.

I am wishing I could have that for dinner but unfortunately I couldn't go fishing. I just can not believe you would not go get a cooler and ice and keep them fish. Definitely In the Mutton snapper family you can tell by the pink pectorals dorsal and anal fins also take care and I made a really good sandwich😊
