I owned a gift store in a mall for 20 years so more is more and less is a bore. So I have a tree in the living room, that I made a woodsy look, a whimsical one in the kitchen all food themed, one in the office with all glass ornaments and a kid tree with ornaments they made when they were little. The kid tree , 4 kids all grown with 4 grandkids now is very special to me and its interesting how they always check to see how it looks and how I decorate it each year. Your tree is very unique and I love that you like to have one that you make your own each year.

I have five trees. The tree in our formal dining room is my nostalgia tree. We have four children who are all grown with families of their own. The theme for this tree includes all of the homemade, school and Sunday school crafts they made through the years. Now I am adding our grandchildren contributions. So fun.

Your style is magic to me! I love the dark, moody and vintage decor.

I am so glad to hear you say this living room tree is for you.... but the kids have their own trees. My son is now 50 and I had a tree in his room every year while he was growing up. I decorated it for whatever was going on in his life at the time... little league.. Star Wars, airplanes.. all his little phases. He still remembers that. I love everything in your moody room. I am definitely going to try those ginger ink ornaments.. gorgeous!!! The entire room is cozy, tranquil and peaceful.

When i was younger and the kids were home, I had 7 trees. One in every main room of the house. All were different sizes and shape, and each had a different theme. The one in the living room was always the family tree and it changed every year, then there were bird trees, angel trees, kitchen trees, music trees, etc.

I have three trees in my house. A formal decorated tree in the main living room that you can see from outside, and matches the rest of the main floor decorations. Then we have a traditional family tree in the 'family room' decorated with ornaments collected from family vacations, heirlooms passed down from my grandparents and great-grandparents, ornaments I made before I was married and ones that my kids have made in elementary school. We also have a third tree which is decorated with musical-themed ornaments that my husband received from his music students.

We have a family tree in the family room with all the child-memory ornaments and homemade ones. The other rooms in the house have trees I decorate to go with the room. LR, DR, Kitchen, Entryway, bedroom, The kids room has trees that thy have carte blanch with. Your decorations are absolutely beautiful!

You have a beautiful home. I had artificial Christmas tree's growing up. When I married my husband insisted on a real tree because they never had a fake tree growing up. It really is a lot less work to have a real tree. Just put it in the stand, snip the twine that they tie it up with and that's it, just water and add your decorations. I can't even imagine having to put the tree together from a box. The smell of a real tree is amazing and it fills the house with pine for weeks and weeks. Happy Holiday's to you and yours.

When my kids were young we did the traditional family tree in the living room that the entire family took part in decorating on Thanksgiving evening. We put on Christmas music and drink non-alcoholic Wassail for the kids and hot toddies for the adults. The guys in the family put up the Christmas lights on the house the week before Thanksgiving so they're ready to turn on Thanksgiving night. I always had some extra much smaller trees scattered around the house I decorated in themes for various rooms - that filled my love of decorating trees - y way. But Christmas, in my family, is truly about the kids (& making sure they understand why it's celebrated) so the main tree was all about their enjoyment and oh how they loved to show off their handiwork. My daughter had the special task every year of sitting on her dad's shoulders & adding the angel to the top of the tree. Our son's task was flipping the switch to turn on the outdoor lights to start the Christmas season officially in our home.
