A MINNESOTAN man lives with three giant English Mastiffs who weigh a combined 630lbs. Joe Thompson lives with his three English Mastiffs and his family in Duluth, Minnesota. The largest of the three dogs - two-year-old Harrison - weighs a whopping 250lbs, while his housemates Ringo and Paul weigh 218lbs and 170lbs respectively. Joe got the first of the three dogs six years ago after his dad was diagnosed with cancer and then began breeding the huge dogs. English Mastiffs are renowned for being the world’s heaviest dogs and Joe’s pets are in huge demand for breeding - charging up to $3000 a time.

I had a English mastiff for 11 years, she just passed in February 2019. These dogs are honestly amazing and after having her I can’t imagine having another dog breed. Gentle giants, she was a big girl 180 pounds and full of love. I miss my Daisy everyday and this video just brought back a lot of memories ❤️❤️

My last Mastiff was just over 260. He was a little taller. He was a lamb and wouldn't hurt a fly. He got attacked in the dog park by a bully and I had to step in and It took off my finger. He lived to be 14. They do not like stress and don not like been yelled at so don't do it. My Mastiff now is smaller and I bought him for what was promised to be size but he is only about 200. Same temperament though. Best breed in my books. People would call the police when they saw my last one. Harley just shook people and they thought he had to be vicious. No chance. I had cancer and Harley kept me warm every night when I got the shakes from Chemo. All my friends abandon me and thought I would die but Harley was right there for me every day. Thanks for sharing. I would like to know if you have a lead on some of your dogs puppies. I am looking at getting a couple more.

@@nicolem8122 Hi: If you are going to buy a Mastiff then make sure it comes from a good pedigree. Harley my second was a big boy and a bigger baby. I honestly thought that a squirrel would mug him. I lucked out and bought him from a bag yard breeder that had both parents and he turned out to be wonderful. My third I got out of Manitoba because I could not find a breeder in British Columbia that had puppies.I still have him and he was bout as a purebred but no papers as I do not plan to show him, I do not think he could stand the stress of the shows. I lost a great Dane that way who one best in show at expo 86 dog show. Rare but he died shortly after and I will never do that again.

He of course gets various snacks thru the day mostly blueberries and carrots. Loves carrots. Just trying to keep him fed but healthy. He does get stuff that gets "dropped" by the grandkids alot. Amazingly its always stuff they don't like. Anyway he is almost 7 months old and about 140 lbs now. He is my first mastiff and he is wonderful.

As an absolute stranger I need to say that every man that dedicate his life to their dogs like Joe did, well, if you are giving everything for your mastiff it is something that you just feel, there are no words, I don’t and I didn’t have to meet Joe, his voice shaking holding tears at the end of this video tells me, a complete stranger, what a great man he was. Hi I am a volunteer since 1986 with Great Lakes Mastiff Rescue.org. We are a 6 state rescue. People say “ ooooooo I want a big dog like that”. The first bout of diarrhea all over the house, or their slingers on the ceiling, out the dog goes. These guys cannot live by themselves. They will starve and die. They need to be with a family 24/7, thats their purpose in life. We rescue hundreds of Mastiffs. So, do you show your boys? Good luck with them

They definitely don't live long. Around 7 years is average for a big dog like that. Beautiful dogs but very poor health with the breed usually no matter how well you care for them.
