My Minoxidil Side Effects | Wrinkles, Body Hair | Female Hair Loss

Hello and welcome back to my channel! In today's video i'll be talking you through common minoxidil side effects and my personal experience with them. I have been taking minoxidil since May 2020 (topical minoxidil to oral minoxidil), so I believe it's been a fair amount of time to discuss how I have reacted to the medication. This video will look at the commonly discussed minoxidil side effects: itchy scalp, stick scalp, facial hypertrichosis, excessive body hair and wrinkles. I have used the minoxidil topical 5% solution, minoxidil foam 5% solution and oral minoxidil 1.25mg (as perscribed).
If you're interested in my hair loss routine, check out my video on it below:

In next week's video I will be posting a part two of my experience with minoxidil side effects, which will cover: headaches, heart palpitations, tiredness, water retention and weight gain. Be sure to subscribe so you don't miss that one.
Thank you for watching and i'll see you in the next one!

    Holy shi*! A woman who has taken both topical and oral forms of minoxidil and in a KZread video to share it! I’m impressed and happy to hear your experience with it. The main thing I was afraid of was hypertrichosis, but if your experience with this side effect was very minor then I’m not too concerned as a man.

    thanks for sharing your experience . for how long have you been using oral minx? Can i ask you if you really haven't noticed any increase in forehead/ under eyes wrinkles or a more bloated / less defined face due to the possble water retention oral minox can cause? just asking cause each time i get back on topical minox i get bad forehead and under eyes wrinkles that even a nuclear skincare regimen can't erase and i have to stop or it ruined my skin ( my twin brother has been using minox non stop for 8 years now and i look 10 years younger than him easily) , unfortunnately most pge2 analogue are proinflammatory and will cause skin aging in the long run . have you noticed an increase in eyebrow growth or eyelashes lenght? btw your skin looks great. thanks

    Hello! I have been using minoxidil since May 2020, oral since June 2020. I haven’t noticed any of those side effects since being on the medication. I’m sorry to hear that you’re experiencing those side effects, my heart goes out to you. How long did you take the medication for when you noticed these side effects? Maybe I haven’t been taking it long enough for wrinkles to appear? I believe my eyelashes grew a little bit, but I can never be 100% certain. Thanks for the kind words! ❤️

I am too scared to start it though with the hair shedding side effect etc. I just purchased a laser cap so thought I’d try that and then introduce the minoxidil. Did you have trouble finding a doctor who prescribes oral minoxidil? Most doctors, including dermatologists, refuse to prescribe it. It's unfortunate because it's a good drug that could help a lot of people. I guess I'm pretty lucky for having a dermatologist who prescribes it.

    Everyone reacts differently to minoxidil so I can’t say for sure, however, one month is not a very long time in regards to seeing results. Give it at least 6 months to a year before deciding to continue or not. Remember, hair growth is a very very slow process. ❤️

    I have been doing the topical minoxidil 7 percent prescribed by my doctor. I have been shedding like crazy the last week and a half . I will be on this 4 weeks tomorrow . Went to the doctor today . She is switching me to the oral . Will the intense shedding start all over ? How long will the intense shed last for . Going crazy :’( you said yours was 6 weeks - is that from when you first started using the minoxidil drops ?

  • @Fluffyduff

    @Fluffyduff

    3 жыл бұрын

    It sounds like your trajectory is pretty normal! The shedding did not start again once I made the switch it just carried on as normal (by that point I hardly had much hair left to shed). I started the drops at the beginning of May, shedding began late May, shedding ended mid July. Stick it out, and hopefully day by day the worst will be behind you. My hair has grown back so much healthier than it was before.

  • @Fluffyduff

    @Fluffyduff

    3 жыл бұрын

    No worries. And no the oral minoxidil did not make me gain weight. I don’t weigh myself because I find it really damaging mentally, however I know my body enough to know I didn’t put on any significant weight (my body looks and feels the same). I know how you’re feeling, and yes I thought it was never going to end, I cried a lot, had many down days, but I just tried to get on with life as much as possible because I knew feeling down wouldn’t solve anything. With that being said, it’s more than okay to not feel okay and have down days. You’ve taken a big leap by starting minoxidil and it’ll either work or it wont, but at least you tried it and you won’t spend your life thinking “what if”. Try to stay as strong as possible, you can do this! ❤️
