I love how you're all "I'm not really a metal collector" then flash some heavy stuff like the first Bathory. :) I'm a bit like you, all over the place musically, but metal was important in my life early on, and taught me to collect records. Funny enough, I live in Paris and my office mate is from NC and knows Matthews. Maybe I'll ask her to swing by your store and get me something! :)

Max Warrior was a band in the 80’s I saw many times. The bassist Perry Richardson and the lead vocalist Carl Snare were friends of mine and I sang with the band a few times. They were excellent live ! The 2 aforementioned members were later in the band Firehouse. They played all over the Southeast I mainly saw them in Myrtle Beach and Charlotte.

How about Opeth? If you're new to them, they might be a surprise awaiting your ears. Prog influenced death/black metal right from the start, but kept becoming more proggy throughout their discography. No more gutteral vocals on the last four albums, which always irritated the hardcore fans, yet probably won them some new ones. Some of their records were produced by Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree; first one being "Blackwater Park" in 2000. That and the album just before ("Still Life") were their two best!

Nice picks Dylan. If you don't already own Pentagram - Sub-Basement (2001), seek it out. Highly underrated. Also another gem is the Lars Ulrich curated comp from 1990: New Wave Of British Heavy Metal '79 Revisited. 2lps of the best late 70s early 80s British Metal. 🤘

Great video as usual. At a car boot in 1987 I found a Vertigo swirl of Master of Reality (I confess back then I didn't know how collectable the swirls were and I already had a copy) but it was the first press flip top sleeve with the poster which is why I bought it.......for £3! If ever I need a new car, it will be sold!!

Snare or (Carl Snare as he was in Maxx Warrior) just had died earlier this month unfortunately, Dillon. (Also Perry Richardson, the bassist was in Maxx Warrior, FireHouse and is today in STRYPER). PS: I do own the SAVATAGE album on Par Records with the blue ship you have mentioned and it is signed by the whole band incl. Criss Oliva... *Rest in Peace, CJ Snare and Criss Oliva*

If you want a good Heavy Metal suggestion to get a taste of different artists and something that is fairly newly released, check out "Iommi" by Tony Iommi as producer, working with artists like Philip Anselmo, Dave Grohl and Ozzy. In my top 5 Metal records for the last 2 years

I’d recommend you give Control Denied a listen, it’s a side project from death metals straight up father Chuck Schuldiner where he did the kinda stuff he truly wanted to do but couldn’t in Death as he felt he couldn’t do the singing and such, it’s like death metal mixed with power metal with Judas Priest/dio type vocals almost (rob halford was actually asked to join but couldn’t from what I’ve seen) with awesome technical and melodic instrumentation from phenomenal players. You might like it, I’d also say TOOL but you likely already heard them before, however if not it’s amazing, psychedelic meets prog metal great atmosphere and amazing production quality. I’d try Deftones too if you also somehow haven’t already, white pony and Saturday night wrist, kinda shoegaze type stuff mixed with alt rock and metal, very atmospheric Also recommend Gojira, amazing death metal with sick instrument playing killer riffs and drums, and awesome atmosphere. I’d start with From Mars to Sirius, The Way of All Flesh, and Fortitude And if you also haven’t heard them before, DEFINITELY check out Down, badass stoner groove metal stuff with a bit of doom and sludge mixed in, from panteras singer Phil Anselmo, with corrosion of conformity’s guitarist pepper Keenan, crowbar’s Kirk weindstein, and Eyehategod’s + also corrosion of conformity’s drummer jimmy bower. Rex brown also shows up, Down II and NOLA are amazing albums, I think you’d really like them honestly if you like sabbath-esque stuff and sludge, stoner, doom etc Also gonna suggest trying Meshuggah, amazing technical groovy extreme metal stuff, absolute precise stuff I’d try Immutable and The Violent Sleep of Reason albums, Bleed is of course a staple song too And I VERY MUCH recommend Devin Townsend, his stuff is AMAZING, his voice is incredible, absolutely listen to Kingdom and Deadhead, and Stormbending from him and Love? from Strapping Young Lad

Metal is almost all I look for 😂 hard to find near me if it’s not the same typical stuff over and over I got an original pressing of master of puppets which is my favorite album of all time 3 years ago and that’s what basically got me interested into looking for records at all Found a limited 500 or 1000 pressing at my nearest record store for a band I never even heard of and really liked what I heard off the album so that was a pretty cool experience I had the luck of finding the last two Tool albums I needed in the last year and they’re my second favorite band ever, they’re bootlegs of course but that’s all you’ll get of them, Ænima and 10,000 days; I got 10,000 days a few months ago then the same place posted a reel of a picture disk bootleg of it so I just had to trade mine for it (figure it’s already a bootleg, can’t sound that much worse), then shortly after (two or three months ago) my brother, our friend and I found another 10k days bootleg FROM YOU GUYS 😂 was playing as we walked in and I didn’t even notice it get taken off and put on the front right of the room after it ended, I immediately handed it to our friend Oh and I saw you got Death’s Symbolic a bit ago, I STILL have crippling depression that it was only 100 bucks and I couldn’t go up and get it 😭 it’s the ONLY death album I still need, I ain’t ever gonna find it, except for online for 2-300 dollars 🥲 I would kill for an original Justice with the sticker too Not technically metal but I just the other day also found a friggin Alice In Chains Tripod, nearly crapped myself even if it was just the white bootleg (still never found one ever till then) and it’s one of my favorite bands and the last album needed from them so that was sweet

Hi Dillon, like your channel and have never commented before. You showed a first rate metal selection and good emphasis on Slayer's 'South of Heaven', which could be the greatest metal album ever recorded. But you should really get hold of the 1986 Slayer album 'Reign in Blood' - a true gem. Monster Magnet are not really a metal band - more heavy psych stoner rock. The first few Monster Magnet records are the greatest shit. 'Spine of God' (1992) and 'Dopes to Infinity '(1995) are the standouts. I've always thought Metallica's 'Kill 'Em All' is more speed punk than metal but I'm sure many people would disagree. The debut Iron Maiden record is a straight up winner! Also wanted to mention Black Sabbath. You are right that early Sabbath is not really heavy metal and shouldn't be regarded like that. They were a heavy rock band in a thriving scene of UK heavy rock and only hit the metal scene when Ronnie James Dio took over as vocalist. Also give Megadeth a chance. The debut album 'Killing is my Business...And Business is Good' (1985) is the right stuff and a good compliment to the early Metallica when Dave Mustaine was in that band - apologies for the long post!

Are you looking to sell anything from this collection? I sold my whole collection about 12 years ago and just started collecting again. I'd be interested in the danzig, samhain and maiden stuff.

Hi Dillon. How much would accept for the Trouble album. A great record. Saw them at the Marquee club in London's Soho on that tour. One of the best gigs I've ever been to! Great channel by the way. 🤘👍

Why don't you ever mention Judas Priest? That giant metal collection you bought had to have some Priest. Really dude?

Vinyl trend. Not Metal head. Collector for sake of rarity/demand (what's cool atm)/value. It's okay though. At least man was honest saying he is not metal "collector". Like I am not jazz "collector" or "jazz head" even if I found a big valuable jazz collection.

It’s not about the value, if it’s something I like and I think it’ll be hard to find again, I’ll hang onto it. That’s with all genres. I feel like I said that in the video but maybe not. Also, it’s not a trend for me, I’ve been collecting records since I was 10 years old.

Big HM obsessive when I was a teen and I have to say it wasn't the glam/hairmetal stuff that killed my love for the genre. For me it was the likes of Venom and the rest of the Death Metal dirge onwards. Clownish nonsense, anti R&R and about as much fun & charm as a peadophiles funeral. Imo.
