It’s beautiful to see a basketball wife who doesn’t have a bbl, or an ‘Instagram baddie” or whatever other stereotypes. She has her own career, her own identity, her own style and her man loves her regardless. This definitely made me feel a lot better about my insecurities of not feeling adequate enough for love or marriage cause im not a “baddie”

Girl you are a baddie ! Social media makes us women feel like we have to look a certain way in order to be desirable, but all those IG ‘baddies’ with the perfect shape still get cheated on lol. Not laughing at anyone’s pain!! Just writing this to tell you you’re beautiful and all women are;; men might be attracted or turn their head for a body/flesh; but they don’t STAY or LOVE because of one. What matters is on the inside. 🫶🏼🙏🏽🦋

Most people who say they are in love, have never been in love. What they have, is a strong PHYSICAL ATTRACTION to another person. You have to be with someone for YEARS before you can declare that you love them. You can't just meet someone and a week later say you are in love with them, when you don't even know that person...it takes a long time to get to know a person. You can't be in love with someone you don't know. So again, what most people call love, is merely a physical attraction to someone else...nothing more...and when that physical attraction dies off...they break up...but they say they fell out of love. Love doesn't die. A parent does not stop loving their child...that's real love.

I agree with other users, I think Nina really failed to provide answers of any substance. However, I think this can be attributed to your line of questions. It seems like this interview was the first time Nina was asked these type of questions and you could see her become engaged in her thoughts and very pensive. I dont think she doesnt have a meaningful response but rather she was really reflecting on these types of questions and trying to find the core of what her perspective is. You can tell towards the end of the interview she hit her stride and had more in depth responses.

Marriages do take work, mostly self development work. But I have never not wanted to put in the work for my husband. I’ve always wanted to be with him and vice versa. I think that’s what matters.

It’s very rare that a marriage lasts for the entirety of our lives. Humans are complex and our needs, desires, standards and preference change drastically over time and more often than not, it doesn’t align with our partner. A divorce isn’t the end of the world. Be grateful for the love that was experienced and shared.

Because it’s probably embarrassing to many people especially if it was very public or ended abruptly. And there’s the fact that it’s two sides to every story and it just ends up being more messy to publicly address. But at the same time, by opening up your relationship and showing all the good parts and honeymoon phases you are opening yourself and your relationship up for criticism so I can see why people feel the need to know what happened when it does end. Personally I keep my romantic life private for the very reasons I’ve stated above. Technically you don’t owe anyone an explanation but in the same sense you can’t be mad if people have questions and what to know cause you shared so much. It’s tricky

Can I be honest? I really struggled with this episode. Shan really carried it for the most part, really prompting her guest to give more. But even when prompted, the guest couldn't come up with any real substantive answers for the HOW part of staying in marriage outside of "being committed." I feel like Shan was really trying to get practical about what "work" means, but this woman talked for an hour about a whole lot of nothing. No disrespect to her, but if she's a family therapist I was expecting her to approach the conversation with tools and ideas. Instead it was a lot of fluff.

Yes! The only thing I got out of this is the “work” it takes to stay in this kind of relationship is MONEY. If my man was bringing home millions I would stay with his ass too. I bet if he weren’t rich this episode would look a lot different 😅

I ❤ watching Russell and Nina Westbrook and learning more about them. At times it can be a bit awkward, but I am understanding of the introvert nature, empathize with their focus on their relationship and children, as well as managing their peace because of careers. In spite of everything, I was able to glean some valuable nuggets from viewing the podcast. I believe she is a very intelligent and respectable person and I pray for her continued evolution and success. I hope both women prosper in their future endeavors. Thank you for sharing.✌

I enjoyed this interview with Nina Westbrook. She was clear in what the secret is for her marriage working up until this point: Commitment to each other and seeing it through. Acceptance of each other. Honesty. Willingness to work on the issues and actually fix them. Knowing that sacrifice is apart of this journey. Setting expectations for how you and your partner do life, not based on what others think it should be. There was so much in what she said directly, what was implied…..the gems were dropped through the entire interview. She allowed us a glimpse into their world that was just enough. Perfect even. 🙏🏾

Hi Shan, I appreciate your perspective on highlighting the challenges of public-facing relationships. It's crucial to share both the good and bad sides, but I felt today's guest was somewhat reserved about her struggles. Providing more context and personal anecdotes could help listeners like me connect better with her experiences. Ex: I gave a lot because my partner requires so much as a person so I had to realign my boundaries VS. I have always been the type to bridge the gap/do what seems necessary without thinking, and because my husband requires a lot (like me matching his social battery) I realize over time I had to set boundaries and tap out before earlier. Thanks for addressing this important topic! Still tuning in for more 👍🏾
