Thanks for sharing your thoughts! On a sidenote, thank you for not referring to your bags as "she." It drives me crazy when I hear other youtubers referring to their bags in the feminine pronoun. They are just bags, not people! Yes, we like and admire then and use them to haul our stuff, but they are just bags.

Thank you, I thought it was just me. It is funny how things catch on. The other one that gets me is referring to jeans as denim. “A pair of denim”….. Denim is a fabric not a clothing item, and used to make jackets, shorts, skirts, shoes, blah blah blah…. 😂😂😂

I agree with all your points! Thanks for sharing! I do think it’s easy to get caught up in the “classics” when you first start collecting. I was also scared to buy color for a while, but realized I really don’t enjoy black bags???? Even though 90% of my clothes are black. So, what’s the point??? Trying to sell a black bag now. One of my favorites I own is a green YSL bag.

Thanks for your thoughts Melinda - always enjoy hearing them. I feel exactly the same about loosening up my tastes and going for more color and straying away from the “classic bag checklist.” This past year I added an orange Kelly 32 to my wardrobe, and it has quickly become one of my most used bags. I even added a yellow hobo bag since then and also use it frequently. Also - I feel like a more exuberant person when I wear bright colors, and I never quite noticed that until recently. An aside - You look fantastic and radiant in this video!

TFS all your lessons Melinda! I adored your pearlescent grey lady Dior as well and I was shocked when you sold it. Whenever I run across a similar colored one online I think of you. I will keep an eye out for you now haha. And I completely agree, when I shop at Hermes it’s just shopping. My black bags never see the light of day the second it starts getting warm although I love them. I’ve banned myself from getting more. I love color so I like darker colors for the winter and lighter for the warmer months.

You're so right about not buying for an imaginary lifestyle. I have several lovely evening bags that I either have not used yet or only used a handful of time because I don't go out to fancy dinners that often. And also not getting caught up in hype and just because a bag works for someone else doesn't mean it will work for me. I remember going into LV fully expecting to love the Neverfull because of all the hype from youtubers but didn't like it on me (I'm petite and it just looked silly on me).

Thanks Kim! So true! I use the whole system, it won't work if you don't. But you can use regular polish (I don't very often) but it takes a lot longer to dry. I recommend watching their video on how to apply. If you do it right it lasts and lasts.

You’re absolutely right Melinda! Our styles & needs change over time. I’ve never followed the trends. I don’t have a neverfull or pochette Métis. The speedy 25 is my favorite but I didn’t add them to my collection until recently. After retirement, I have found that I no longer need the extra space ( I use to carry an extra phone, etc) I now prefer the speedy 20 size. The only bag I bought to follow the trend was a woody Chloe tote bag & matching mules 😔 I have not worn either 😑

I hear ya! I bought the Chloe Woody tote and have only worn it once. It's comfy and fits a lot, I need to use it more. The shoes are too flat for me so I haven't tried them.

This was really good. I love the opalescent grey Lady Dior and it’s been available for many years on their Australian website and I have been tempted but I have resisted because I tend to gravitate towards warm colours and grey isn’t going to fit in my wardrobe well and I probably wouldn’t wear it. It’s so beautiful though that I can’t stop looking at the listing.

I don’t understand why people buy bougie bags to travel with…I’m talking about the Christian Dior totes, Chanel totes, Goyard totes, etc. These bags are put on conveyor belts, lack the back sleeve that helps keep them stable on top of your carry on, and get dirty when stuffed under airplane seats where people put their dirty shoes! Ewwww gross! I stick my goyard tote in my washable canvas carry on bag that sits securely on top of my carryon suitcase and carry a small luxury crossbody. I have a collection of goyards, but I would never stuff one under an airplane seat!

Hi Melinda, great video our tastes do change as we mature. I only had black bags too mainly Chanel and I still have them as my daughter wants them lol. I have a mini lady Dior in a soft white which I love and am now looking for more fun coloured bags. I bought the pochette Métis online because of the hype, I have never returned a bag so quickly it looked awful on me, I definitely think you have to go with your gut and love it before purchasing and I try to buy in store as well.

Although it didn’t turn out to be as good of a flight bag as you had hoped it would be, the Chanel tote is beautiful and I never see it in the leather. I have one in the pink and use it as an office tote during the warmer months . 😉 The Fendi peekaboo is a classic and chic. ❤So pretty.

I really like this video. I've noticed the older I get, the less I care about handbag trends and the "It bags." Instead, I'm having fun picking up bags that I truly like, and want to carry. Maybe they were popular two years ago, and maybe they were never a big deal. It doesn't matter. I like them now. I've also bought back a bag I sold years ago-the Gucci eclipse shoulder bag. I love it, and it will never leave my collection again!

Interesting because I always thought the pochette Métis looked bulky as a crossbody. I tried it on a few times but yeah, I just never saw what was so great about it. Years ago I thought I needed the most classic of bags…the medium classic flap but when I tried it on in the boutique, I didn’t like it. It felt boxy, I didn’t like the caviar leather, and it felt cumbersome. The reissue , however, I love. I do regret not buy8ng the classic flap though and some rectangular minis that came my way , but only because I could have sold them for some hefty profits! 😂
