This is so cool, I plan on making a zine with the same concept! It is so easy to explain how I've felt at different points in life with the albums I've listened to over the past few years as I discovered punk (and later gothic rock).

I’m still in high school and I have been working on my battle vest since my freshman year off and on I’ve been working on it here recently and incorporating more things from my life into it. It now has a chainmail patch to symbolize the armor I made for my partner. There is an embroidery patch that my best friend made for me and a little bag my mom made and my stepdads old boot chains. I am now working starting crust shorts and I’m getting my partner to work on them with me so we can spend more time together while I get to do my gear. I’m sorry for going on about stuff no one cares about but I just don’t have anybody to talk to about it.

Nirvana, Bikini Kill, Sonic Youth, Mudhoney, Joy Division, Bauhaus, Siouxsie & The Banshees, The Melvins, Crass, and The Dead Kennedys are probably some of the most important artist I’ve listened to that have defined the music I like, play, and some like Bikini Kill and Crass my general philosophy, great to see you posting frequently again!

The first band I searched on my own was imagine dragons, I got into punk with Sing sing death house, then albums that stick out are The Sound of Perseverance by Death, The Tü album by Alien Weaponry, Avatar by Avatar, Christ Illusion by Slayer, Rust in peace, Venus Doom by HIM, Scars on Broadway by Daron Malakian and the album that most influenced the way I write lyrics is Egine I Apolia Synithia Mas- Diafana Krina , which is a Greek rock band, honestly most of the punk bands I listen to currently are from the Greek scene

Man, if you only listen to one genre exclusively you’re gonna miss out on some shit you’ll love! It’s fine to have a genre you prefer ofc, but don’t limit yourself! If people call a poser for liking other stuff too, that’s on them lmao I’m a teenager, but if I didn’t listen to other genres throughout my life, I wouldn’t be who I am today. As a person and as a singer/musician.

i pretty much just got into punk rock like 2-3 years ago (i'm still a teenager though so i've got time lmao) but since then i feel like i've p much found my calling. i was genre hopping for a long while before then, trying to figure out what i liked, but similarly to you i think MCR was what really pushed me into punk (though for me it was Danger Days not The Black Parade). the most influential punk bands for me have probably been Against Me! (most influential by far), Descendants, Bad Religion (also similar to you), and Operation Ivy. but i also still genre hop a bit so i also rlly enjoy post punk , new wave , ska , and a handful of other artists as well that fall outside of the punk adjacent sphere

Im 21 and only got into punk like 4 years ago so im pretty new to the scene all things considered. I started being able to find music on my own at around age 12, before that I'd say the first group that really was the theme of my childhood was Kiss or Def Leppard. My parents listen to mainly classic rock and stuff like that, I was never into it much but that's what I was surrounded by. Then when I was first able to start becoming my own person through music I went straight into my emo phase and Pierce The Veil was what stood out from age 12-14. I was still emo for the majority of high school and Twenty One Pilots was from 14-17. Then as I was graduating and had to go off on my own I was getting into indie and punk music kind of at the same time, but with indie being more prominent I'd say Castlebeat was the theme of age 18. Then I got into punk a lot more and Pat the Bunny was my first love in punk music. He got me into it at first and listened to all his bands on repeat for a while from age 18 onward. I think Mischief Brew and Black Flag was the transition into the next era of punk for me at 19 and now at 21 I feel like I'm in the middle of another transition period but I can't name one single group or artist that covers it. As time has gone on I'm getting into a new genre every 10 seconds it feels like lol. To this day though Pat the bunny will always hold a spot in my heart and I always fall back on punk music. Its more than the music for me for sure

Such a cool idea! I'm also interested in hearing how you got into punk or even why you decided to pursue music :)
