I left Russia 2,5 years ago and lived for a while in the country of Georgia. 3 months ago I moved to Lisbon - and in today's video I'd like to tell you about my experience of living in Portugal! This is a Lisbon VLOG: let's go out for a walk in the neighborhood of Parque das Nacoes and talk about moving to Portugal, how expensive is life in Lisbon, discuss the bureaucracy and my visa status. And I'll also give you a room tour! I'd like to compare life in Portugal vs Russia and vs Georgia, and if moving here was worth it. And TBH, I like it here quite a lot. Hope you like the video and smash like and sub for more! thx xoxo

    GUYS I met Russians in person for the first time the other day. They were my movers. They haven't even been here (USA) a full year. I asked where they were from and they seemed hesitant to answer. When they said "Russia" I told them I was glad they made it. They smiled. They did good work and were polite. I thanked them in Russian which they seemed to appreciate. Cool experience. Hope they're good guys and that they have a good and happy life here.

    I dont understand his complaining about prices. Portugal is one of the cheapest countries in europe, even cheaper than eastern europe. Except for housing prices. But bills and groceries are really cheap in comparison to other places in europe. I am from slovakia, average monthly bill for 2 bedroom 70m2 commie apartment is 200-300e/month. Also groceries are more expensive than in lisbon quite a lot also VAT. Also rent was more expensive at one point, now i am not so sure, because lisbon rents went out of control, but slovakia is still quite expensive. But i assume rent is more expensive in portugal especially in lisbon. But when i used to live in lisbon monthly bills were like 100e, may be even less, groceries were way cheaper, especially basic groceries, yes, alcohol, candies etc... that was more expensive.

I was a kid back then and it was an amazing time. Compared to most northwestern European nations, Portugal's food and restaurant prices are actually relatively low. A 3-course meal at a restaurant in Portugal, with drinks and everything, would cost you about 30 euros per person (depending on where you go, of course). If I would have a similar meal with the same drinks here in The Netherlands, I would have to pay around double that amount...

    Dear Roman. 1st thing. It is OK to feel depressed. You are allowed. Knowing this look after your mental health the best way you can and count every little victory as a victory. Talk to a professional if you feel the need. When people move to another place they go through different stages too. From honeymoon to resentment to acceptance and adaptation. It is just part of the process. Portugal is my home, despite me living abroad. It is lovely and infuriating. It is open armed and stuborn and close minded...it is everything so choose the circles that give you joy. The people that welcome you and treat you well and keave behind the ones who do not. It will be tough but I hope your heart will one day call our little country yours too. And one day you will travel and maybe even move (a Portuguese passport will help)...you are a wonderer, a free spirit after all but hopefully you will still want to come back for a rest. I also hope one day, perhaps sooner than you think, things will change in Russia and you will be able to go back without fear. The place where we grow up. Ugly or pretty is always ours the most. Now go find things and people that bring you joy

    I've been in Portugal for 8 years and I love seeing you uncover it for the first time. Its a wonderful place with great food, weather, and people. The government is extremely bureaucratic. I have been trying to renew my residency card for 1.5 years. Last time I went to the Government office which I thought would give me the card they asked me why it took so long, and i just had to tell them that the last 3 appointments i had were canceled due to strikes. None the less, the person handling my case wasn't in that day so they said look in the mail for something and its been another month since then. So on it goes. Welcome to Portugal~!

    I'm Portuguese and I live in Tbilisi, Georgia. There are a couple of things you missed: Taxes are a big issue and you basically forgot to mention the tax difference. In Georgia, as a single entrepreneur, you and I pay only 1% in taxes, and in Portugal 40% on green receipts. You don't have NHR anymore. So, what you're not saying is that you're sacrificing everything for a passport in 5 years.

    I think what you find so refreshing about Portugal is that its part of a collection of smaller nations like Luxemburg where none are scheming to invade and conquer their neighbor for "lebensraum" or to show how superior and superhuman they are compared to their neighbor and everybody can sleep at night without fear of being bombed into oblivion. It makes the air feel so free. They may be small and vulnerable, but everyone lets them be whoever they want to be.

    @@briseboy There are still different languages, customs and cultures every few kilometers. EU really is not just a European version of the USA, the differences between individual countries are much bigger than a difference between the USA and Canada, and often even between the USA and Mexico. What you see as a difference between Kentucky and Washington or Texas and New York is similar to the differences within individual countries (i.e. Catalonia vs Andalusia in Spain, or Bavaria vs dunno, hanseatic cities in Germany). For me the way of thinking "I'm going to Europe" is odd. It's like saying "I'm going to planet Earth".

  • @FINNSTIGAT0R

    @FINNSTIGAT0R

    Күн бұрын

    @@zenniegaming9608 While your statement is generally true, I find it a bit frustrating, since almost none of it applies to Finland. To get to another country from Finland you typically need a boat ride or to fly, if you don't cross by land to Norway or Sweden by land, and most do not, as for most Finns it's much longer, and harder. Border to Russia is closed and crossing over there you will need a visa anyways. So here in Finland you cannot very easily encounter different cultures or languages, or even customs, as diversity inside different parts of Finland is quite small, no matter what Finns from different parts of the country might claim 😄 Also almost all pan European traits/qualities that are mentioned in conversations about Europe usually don't apply to Finland. And it's okay, we as a people are quite small in numbers, and in the far north eastern corner of the EU, so I get it. But sometimes I need to say that Europe is not like it's in western/central/eastern Europe, as the Nordics as a whole are quite different from all of those as well. One distinct feature of the Nordics for example is, that we have a whole lot of land for our population sizes, well, at least outside of Denmark 😄
