I’ve used 8” hairs with a 12” hooklink on difficult lakes, and had loads of fish on it. Sometimes just trying something different to everyone else is all you need

Noticed you are using a decathlon retainer Terry is it any good . I always get my urban baits from them they only seem to sell Nutcracker though .

I've been using it for year or two, can't really faulty it, the materials and the zips are good and it does its job. My only gripe is that I would have prefered if the central part of the sling was deeper so the fish couldn't slide as easily during transport on the slope of some river banks

Watertemp. And oxygen levels in the water combined with airpressure determines how much bait you can put in the swim. In summer with high watertemps low oxygen levels the fish arent feeding that much hence the weight drop of the fish in summertime! Also do not use loads of bait with high proteine because this will saturate the fish very fast. Not good advice from Terry to just put in loads of bait into your swim.
