Wow. I’m an old, white woman who worked ( beginning in the 60’s) with (and FOR) inner city black youth for 40+ years. I loved “my kids” and fought for them. I’ve been SO alienated by the racial rhetoric of the last few years that I can’t quite remember what I believe. I’m thanking God for Coleman Hughes. I will be listening, reading and researching everything he produces. I pray he can be a leader for return to reason, because I’m witnessing a return of hostility towards black people BECAUSE of the recent “black ideology and “woke talk.” My heart is breaking.

Hey Coleman, I’m back in college for a second degree in infosec 10 years later. I’m being forced to take several social science courses and I have to agree that it’s unbelievable to see what passes as rigor in these fields. The majority of the work we are being forced study is just strong ideological opinions being expressed as scientific fact. The “studies” we look at are often comically biased and full of baseline assumptions that are completely subjective. Anything that’s remotely political presents the state of the science as being a series of hyper woke beliefs. One class had Ibram Kendi as required reading. Keep in mind I’m in school for cybersecurity. Needless to say, I agree with your general take on the social sciences. I don’t think people realize how anti intellectual it all is.

How about just a simple neo-Nazi espousing the benefits of the final solution? Coleman said a mouthful here: Their "inability to understand that being an adult is learning to take responsibility for your feelings instead of insisting that the world is responsible for not triggering you" is at the heart of this issue. It hits right at the point, veto power is a very powerful thing and merely having feelings you are uncomfortable with doesn't give you this awesome power. His comment at the end is also right on: "This is what we would call working backwards from a conclusion." These people have feelings, conclude something must be wrong, then try to find anything which supports (only supports) the conclusion (confirmation bias).

The Left only pretends that "feelings give them veto power" when they disapprove of the things being said and they think an appeal to emotion will suffice as an excuse to shut down the debate. As Coleman illustrated, they could care less about hurting the feelings of some dude who escaped a communist dictatorship, but they pretend to care about the feelings of a person who might be triggered by the promotion of colorblindness. Really, they could care less about either thing, they only care about obtaining and maintaining power, and part of that is silencing dissent. They don't believe in free speech or diversity of opinion. They don't tolerate dissidence. They have no concrete principles in speak of. They are just a secular cult on a quest to obtain and maintain power, and that's becoming increasingly more obvious now that the capture of our institutions is near absolute. They don't have to hide their tyranny anymore. They have the power, and this makes them think they now have the right to be the arbiters of both truth and morality.

  • @freedustin

However, your clear and straightforward delivery has truly resonated with me, making it all the more surprising to see the extent of criticism directed at your messages. To me it's clear that class-based disadvantages demand class-based solutions. The shift towards affirmative action and reparations raises complex questions: where do we draw the line, and how do we determine a stopping point? For instance, considering the immense sacrifices of white individuals during the 1st and 2nd World Wars, would their descendants now be eligible for aid under similar logic? Your ability to maintain composure amidst these debates is admirable. Please continue to share your insights with such clarity and grace. God bless.

The moment color, race, socialism, communism, affirmative action, gender discrimation, reparation etc gets mixed up in the conversation, you will be doing a disservice to the Equality and Justice Movement! Hi Coleman, I came across you through the winds of the algorithm. I am greatful for your measured messaging and the required intelligence and education needed to have it. Understanding the criticisms of meta analysis, especially for the social sciences, can be very overwhelming for the uninitiated. I appreciate your breakdown to help people like me understand why these criticism of your work are not as genuine as they claim. I just ordered your book and am very much looking forward to the read. Keep up the great work!

Think about it, TED, like universities and colleges and the media whether social or mainstream media were each in their earlier days were not opposed to different ideas, opinions and conclusions and they were open to criticism whether they are constructive or not and it’s members were composed of people with different ideological beliefs, parties, faith and whatnot. Now, TED like the aforementioned universities and colleges and the media, social and mainstream are most likely led and run by people who are homogenous and fanatical in their political ideas, ideology , mindset that all other ideas that are different from their articles of faith, narratives, conclusions, opinions and outlook are deemed subversive, dangerous, evil and a danger to the Revolution and humanity that they needed to be censored, deplatformed and if that does not work, by any means necessary, destroy them which is not limited to imprisonment, assassination and murder and up to genocide. His TED presentation about color blindness was a threat to the status quo and the people running TED made it certain that it will be hidden from public view .

No doubt you got sandbagged, but Coleman, you are being intellectually disingenuous when you maintain that Rev Dr Martin King’s position was one of color blindness. Why? Simple, because you know that his position was for full compensation for Blacks, something he referred to as redeeming an unpaid promissory note, something you refer to as “reparations.” It is therefore disingenuous for you to use King’s name to promote your colorblindness position when such was never a position held by King. Being judged and being paid are two wholly separate things, which you already know. QED

My primary issue with social sciences, especially sociology, has always been that those in the field have not been able to agree on a set of axioms that they all will consistently follow. That's why there are so many "bs" studies that you mentioned. The field itself is not self consistent and therefore, unscientific. This is because given the same set of acquired data, the data can be interpreted in any number of ways because there is no agreement on those axioms, or essentially, how the data should be analyzed correctly. Sure some of those in the field practice science in its purity, but even then, they and the whole field are still considered illegitimate if not a laughing stock from many in stem and even non-academics because of this fundamental issue. It's why I personally don't even acknowledge their field as a science at all. Because until those in their academic practice, those who represent and own that area of study, put aside their feelings and apply the scientific method as it was intended and thus agree on the axioms of the field, their "results", aka opinions are as valid as any other random person with no training nor thought put in.

Naomi Oreskes, the philosopher of science, wrote a seminal book called "Why Trust Science?" where she argues that science is to be trusted because the people who apply it thinks differently than one another while also being in dialog with one another. She tackles the issue that arises when you define science in a way that restricts ways of producing knowledge then that makes science less trustworthy. In some sense, she argues, in science "anything goes" as long as other people are allowed to evaluate it and think differently of it. This is in stark contrast to your comment.

@@Zentar The real problem in the sciences right now, which was mentioned in the video, is the replication crisis. If you cannot replicate the findings of a social science study, then all you really have is a momentary poll that merely represents a snapshot in time - not true science. Interpretation is one thing, and Oreskes may be right overall; biologists disagree whether to consider viruses alive or not as an example. The main thing is there's often no science involved in social science other than having it in the name.

  • @Zentar

@@lymphomasurvive Unconvincing. The replication crisis that was invoked as an argument against the meta-analysis (which results supports Coleman btw) shows the lack of information competency surrounding science methodology. Meta-analysis address the issue of replication directly by pooling effect sizes (in this case over a hundred studies and over 200 effect sizes) to estimate the true effect of a phenomenon across many replications. The replication crisis exists, but using it in this manner to fashion a cudgel that nullifies multiple scientific fields that might go against an argument in the future is nothing short of cheating oneself. At best it's overgeneralization, at worst it's deliberately dishonest.

You're on to something GREAT! 😃 Your brilliance on this topic compelled me to buy your book, if simply for no other reason than to support you! I will explain how I've always felt. While our different races and cultures should be acknowledged and celebrated🥳, the color of our skin should be as insignificant as our eye color. We are ALL individuals and shouldn't be lumped in a group, and I don't just mean skin color either. There are good white people and bad white people, good black people and bad black people, good cops and bad cops, good preachers and bad preachers, good women and bad women, good men and bad men... the list goes on and on! I give each individual a fair shake so to speak. If your ideas caught on... it and YOU could change the world! 🌎 I applaud you young man for thinking outside of the box and daring to look for peace and harmony in this chaotic world we live in.
