Szczęśliwego Nowego Roku. Życzę powodzenia w dalszej nauce języków. Oby podróż do Polski wypaliła ;). Rozmawiasz z kimś po polsku?

Szczęśliwego nowego roku! Dzięki 😁 ja też! Byłoby świetnie odwiedzić Polskę w tym roku! Niestety, aktualnie nie rozmawiam regularnie po polsku z nikim

And of course Happy New Year as I don't want to come across as someone who doesn't speak English ;). Keep doing what you are doing. I remember when I first started learning English; It was more than 20 years ago. I love the fact that English does not have a lot of conjugation and declension doesn't really exist. I've been learning Russian lately for fun despite the current situation and even I sometimes have to think twice how to decline particular nouns so I know your pain. Being a Pole still makes it somewhat easy.

Two beginner resources for Japanese that you might like are Comprehensible Japanese on YT and Japanese con Teppei (a podcast that at least starts out with short, easily understandable topics -- it doesn't teach but it's good for reviewing vocab on a certain basic topic like weather or drinks or food or whatever), both of which I've dabbled with and have some beginner-friendly content. Best of luck with all of your goals! That's a lot of reading!!

Thank you! I already have seen and listened to Nihongo con Teppei on Spotify, but unfortunately it’s all incomprehensible to me but I still listen time to time to get used to the sounds of the language. It’s a resource I will get back to when my vocabulary has increased! I will check out Comprehensible Japanese! Appreciate the suggestions 🙂

@@LanguagesWithJamie Yeah Japanese con Teppei is better for reviewing basic vocab bc is has a lot of repetition and simple sentence structures, but prob not great if you don't know that vocab going in. Maybe a bit later then. But Comprehensible Japanese is generally easy to understand regardless of vocab you know bc there are pictures and pointing and stuff, plus it has CC so you can look up words if you want. Much more true-beginner friendly, whereas Japanese con Teppei is more beginner review.

@SomedayKorean that’s great to know! Thank you for the suggestions 🙂 I will work myself towards Nihongo con Teppei and that can be like a mini goal for me, to be able to understand the jist of at least one episode of that podcast 🙂

Nice to learn about your goals, thank you for sharing. I have decided personally to add my tenth language and that is Finnish, since I said to myself that since I know some Hungarian, Finnish could be less stressful, since it is also an agglutinative language. Apart from that, I also know the smallest things from Chinese, Latvian or Mongolian, but since those are just little things, I do not consider being able to speak in those languages.

Wow! Finnish is going to keep you busy haha! Languages like Finnish and Hungarian scare me with the 15/18 cases but also intrigue me - maybe one day I'll be able to study Hungarian properly, but not until I've looked into other slavic languages alongside my Polish Latvian also interests me and I really would like to find time to look into it more this year! However, many language learning apps do not feature Latvian, unfortunately. I feel like ChatGPT would be one of my biggest Latvian resources Happy New Year!

@@LanguagesWithJamie I am responding, while having 4 beers in my body and I loved, how you said "Finnish is going to keep you busy". Although it is true and I can relate, I will definitely not waste too much time on it, as I wish to only learn some conversational basics and not be fluent in it, since I will not have genuine or global use for that language. I recommend you to learn something from Slavic before learning Hungarian, because for us Slavs, the huge advantage is having many, and I mean MANY words of Slavic origin in Hungarian language, as a Czech, I feel lucky to have such form of cheat. I do not want to spam too much, but as a proof, I would recommend you watching my vlog from Hungary, where I occasionally point out those Slavic words as an easter egg. English subtitles are available, so do not worry. Latvian has its charm, I personally can speak some Lithuanian, but I have decided to go for that language just because of my visit, as another language challenge, which was pretty successful in my opinion, I adore it, since sometimes there are also some references or connections to Slavic language in case of vocabulary, but also in grammar sometimes, for example negative sentences are done in the same way as in Polish language (jest mięso & nie ma mięsA vs. yra mėsa & mėsOS nėra). Regarding Hungarian, do not be too afraid of cases, it is nothing extra, it is something you already know in English, but Hungarians have decided to use them differently. I repeat, it is not something new, it is something normal, but used differently! For example "innesive case" indicating presence inside of something. In English, you use "in", but in Hungarian, you use -ban or -ben (depending on vowel harmony, another story...) and add it in the end of a word. It's just your English "in", but done in a "Hungarian way", it's pretty simple, really. Phrase "in the house" would be "a házban", where "house" is "ház" and "-ban" is "in", so this is pretty simple and that is why you shouldn't be too scared of cases. Happy new year to you as well!
