My Kia Died! The Warranty Got Denied. Here's what happened next.
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
In this video I talk about how the motor seized up on my 2014 Kia Forte5 EX.
I bought it as a certified pre-owned, and the warranty refused to cover the repairs.
Eventually Kia made it right and gave me a new motor.
I still don't know why exactly my motor failed though.
Thanks for watching!

I am a KIA master tech and they have had engine issues foe the last 10 years or so > If anyone has an issue with getting it repaired under 100.000 miles call the consumer affairs at KIA . 90% or better rate they will repair it especially if you say they will hear from your lawyer . They know they have issues with every engine they make ! Good Luck and God Bless !
When my son's engine died, we added oil. So when we brought it in, the oil level was correct. They covered it.

That’s really smart, I did the same thing, lol I’ve heard of quite a few cases where they declined it due to low oil.
They probably lied about the vehicle being low on oil. You said you never had any issues with low oil levels when you changed the oil, you did not notice any burning oil. Glad Kia went good for the repairs for you. Maybe a good time to sell it and buy a Toyota or Honda?
I'm experiencing this right now. And yes Fidelity is the warranty company I'm actually awaiting a decision on whether or not they're going to fix my car. Yes I too was burning oil and knew it and reported it to Kia on many occasions where they told me that it was normal for this model car that I have. I knew that was bullshit but I kept the service up on time and I also kept checking to make sure my oil levels were okay and when my car finally failed I took it in. Kia has had my car now for 2 weeks still awaiting a decision.
For all the naysayers my 2019 F150 with the 3.5L just blew and it is immaculately maintained. All kinds of newer vehicles can have issues.

Yeah...same thing happened to me. I was told it was the GDI system that Hyundai and Kia cars used to crank up better fuel millage. It causes the build up of debris because the direct injection bypasses some of the conventional fuel intake systems. Thats why they "burn" oil so heavily. My warranty company denied me also. KIA's warranty covers non-original owners for 60,000 miles, not the original owner 100,000 miles they advertise. Same thing just happened to me July 11, 2023 while at work in the parking lot went to start my car and it was running for about 5 minutes and than just quit as if I shut the engine off . And now I am waiting for an answer from the dealer. And my car is a Hyundai Veloster 2015 and only has 69,000 miles on it. Plus I bought it as a certified Vehicle and I had the same thought that it was covered because that was the way they presented it.
So I’ve been going back and forth with the warranty company for three months now and it’s just in review. I showed them oil changes and everything. I’ve had this car for less than two years and the warranty is about to run out. I feel like they just don’t wanna pay and know it’s not my fault. This is insane. I lost everything because I couldn’t go to work to pay my rent and had to move out of my apartment onto friends couches. Not even able to live in my car or drive it for work. if you got your engine replaced for free it fell under the recall I'm sure as mine did. I just got it back after 2-3 months at the Kia dealership! When my engine seized that also ruined my transmission, transfer case, and starter.. and they replaced it all free of charge. Miss Barbara in the service department here at Mark Martin Kia in Arkansas even set me up with Enterprise rental cars during most of that time. I ended up paying $66 for a belt and a filter of some sort!!

I have a 2016 Sorento which I have had no problems for 5 years but recently the engine blew and now they will be replacing the engine for free. After 500 miles an $1,800 bill to replace the fuel injectors plus $500 for the rental I had to get while the car was being fixed. So much for the dealers thorough used car inspection.
I've owned a 2011 Kia Sorento with a 2.4 4cyl since 2010 (before GDI) with the dealer's purchase incentive 'Tires-For-Life'. After 12 years and 100k miles, besides regular routine fuel and maintenance costs, I have come out of pocket for (less than $2,500) 3 car batteries, four sets of windshield wipers, and just recently CV boots and head gasket and serpentine belt. The old car has developed some squeaks and rattles, but it has been inexpensive and reliable and I'm glad I bought it. I also own a 2017 Kia Soul+ with no issues. Both have had the engine-knock software recall update.

They shouldn't cost as much as a newer model used Corvette and yet they do. It's very easy to see why people don't spring for Honda and Toyota given the price difference. An old used Rav4 with over 100K miles in the northeast states can still cost close to $25,000 grand. That's just ridiculous for a used car with that much mileage. And a brand new Rav4 is closer to $35 -$40K after dealer markup. Most people don't have that to throw away on a car.

I have been looking into this since I have a KIA RIO 1.6 Liter Engine.. From what I understand,, Oil does not Circulate through that Engine well at all for a Number of reasons.. There is a Really good Video as to why called ( Why KIA Engines Fail ) The Mechanic Breaks an Engine down and Explains it in Detail... There are 2 Things a Person should look into as the Cause... One is a $15 Dollar the PCV Valve Sticking Causing it to Burn Oil Very Quickly,,, and Beside the Oil Pump Being Inadequate,,,, the Other is the OIL Itself... These Cars Need Synthetic Oils,, and Not just any Oil,,, but more Specifically API/SP + GF-6A or B,, Depending on the Year...Plus You will need to find a way to keep Your Fuel system and Valves Clean...Just adding Fuel Cleaner to Your Gas is not going to do... You need something to go into the Air Intake or a Vacuum Line to get at the back of those Valves... In 2017 when I bought my Kia,,, They didnt really have the Right Oils for these Direct Injected engines in the First Place.. In My Opinion,,, KIA Scarified those Engines in Order to meet Emissions Standards... Tiny Oil Pump,,, The PCV Valve is Easy to Replace,,, and for $15 Dollars I would Replace it every 2 or 3 Years.. I would Spend the Extra Money On Proper Oil as it is Way Cheaper than Replacing the Engine,,, and because these Engines Carbon up.. For $18 Dollars it Probably would not Hurt to Clan those Valves Once a Year.. There are Tiny oil drain back holes in the Pistons. Over time those holes can get plugged up with carbon. Remember ANYTIME you hear tapping from ANY car stop asap don't be lazy and think I can make it home people today never check or service anything anymore I always check all my fluids even if I know the car doesn't burn any oil ignorance is not an excuse
Any updates?
I have a 2016 Kia Rio with 85,000 miles and my engine is acting up
Sounds like the dealer did and ate the cost to make you the customer happy.
I had 2 year f4 sir conditioner had to be replaced, stalled and towed . l just got rid of the kia l got toyata instead.was mistake getting kia. .

@@sasmills do you also have a stinger? Because it is not the theta 2 engine It's a lambda engine So are they doing lifetime warranty on all of their engines? They should!
@queenhoe9006

@@tonifonseca9178 If it is the GT then it has the lambda. The base kia stingers use a 2.0t Theta engine. If it is a lambda you should be fine. However If it is a concern to you then I recommend getting it checked out anyway.
Knocking=pinking is very dangereous for engine. The internal gap are too big. The quality of oil is the cause. The engine stress to the start engine. The engine must be warm a little bit. Do not force the engine more than 3000 rot/min.
KIA never gives the 100,000 to the second or other buyer. You should of said to them the engine has a problem under the recall. Fix it. The engine recall is for over a number of years going back to at least 2016 and I think it was even later.
this was a recall issue- kia is replacing their motors
Something's rotten in Denmark !
so they're sayin' if a car changes hands the warranty is void? 😂 i bought a 2yr old civic from a non honda dealer, it had an issue that honda fixed under the original warranty no questions asked.
Gotta love Kias and Hyundais--either they get stolen, catch fire or the engine blows up.
Kia and Hyundais are complete crap

Zero Repairs Kia Optima 2016 144,000 miles....I check Oil twice a week. Keep it topped.

We love our Kias. My mother had a 2015 Kia Sorento SXL with the V6. It only got sold because at 120k miles it needed a new motor because of a blown head gasket which was the fault of my mother for driving the vehicle with a coolant leak until it overheated. My friend had a 2011 Kia Sorento that was still in great condition when they sold it and it had 180k miles on it, all she wanted was a newer car. Our k5 has been doing just fine so far.
So he climbed a hill. Hard on the engine. Then it just died. Was the oil lite on when you were climbing the hill or were you off in lala land. You knew you were having a problem why didn't you pay attention to your car?
So it sounds like these have bad engines. But people are also unsure of how much oil is in their engines. Why would that be? Have they heard of a dipstick? Its a bit strange imo.
pretty sure its the gdi
2.4 theta engine common failure
No offence but your first mistake was buying a Kia in the first place... you got lucky, take this chance to get rid of it.
engines are on a recall
I know this is hindsight it's also intelligent site you should have bought a Honda or a Toyota
Older kias 2015 and lower had faulty engines and some new models, don't let that deter you from buying kia/Hyundai. Great affordable and good cars. Hondas and Toyotas are too overpriced now

@@jayc9461 yeah I knew it was, those engines mostly tent to have issues but others are more reliable. Hopefully they'll fix it
Ha ha we are going through this same story right now with the Kia 60,000 mile or 6 minute warranty
Thousands of them have failed .burning oil
If you can find one of these used private party with a new engine, buy it, especially if the car has under 100,000 miles
