My journey brings me to the edge of GUINEA |S7E40|

In this episode, I am riding through the highlands of Guinea and I am visiting two amazing waterfalls. This is just the beginning of the rainy season (so.. the end of the dry season) so both waterfalls don't have a lot of water running down, but that's why I can actually walk ride on top of them - and even, ride my motorcycle over one waterfall!

I always watch around me and see that locals do everyday what intenational bikers consider impossible trips. He s got a couple of hundred dollar bike, clocking 200.000 km. and takes two giants along for a ride, for a couple of dollars.. The big riders have 20.000 dollar bikes, just bought brand new, and they are always thinking that they have destroyed and finished a bike after a few thousand km. Who is the adventurer? I spent six months crossing Africa and used a cheapo Kodak Instamatic camera. That was pre-digital and pre-internet. In truth wish I’d had a cine camera, but would have been too heavy at the time, and v expensive to develop films. Still have some gorgeous photos though :-)

However, I would be thinking, "If I were to throw a spinner bait right there, I could probably catch a pretty good sized bass for supper." Love your videos.

The waterfalls are quite impressive even in the dry season, but I can only imagine the incredible rush of water across the rocks during the rainy season and the deafening roar as it plunges over the edge into the chasm. These are sights most of us will never see or experience without your willingness to share and take us along on your journey. Thank you. :o)

One can safely assume there is a story there covering Millions of years of sedimentary rock layers Noraly seems to be more focused on Humanity and scenery than Geology currently she was interested in the Volcanos of South and Central America in season 6, I suppose there is the Eastern Coast of Africa and Kilamanjaro and the Rift valley at some point in the future travelwise

I'm no geologist, but I'll take a stab - she's standing on a shelf of hard to erode igneous rock, right at the boundary with a multiple layers of deep sedimentary rock that tens of or even millions of years of flowing water have eroded much faster as they pass over it, hence the waterfall & the narrow gorge. That's based on what I learned in school geography class. Why is the igneous rock there with the sedimentary next to it like that? What kind of igneous rock? What type of sedimentary rock? You need to ask a geologist :-D.
