    Good. Cast Iron is a safe material since it does not combine with acidic,alkaline, salty or oily food materials.(curd, pickles, oils)

    I had bought one cast iron seasoned appachatty. When I compared with my old cookware at home ,I felt some difference in colour. Old one is pure black, while new one is mixed with some reddish like colour. I don't know exactly it is iron or cast iron. How can we identify it? Is this new one has any impurities harmful to us?

    Very enlightening class about iron cookwares. I always shied away from buying cast iron due to ignorance in handling and maintenance thinking that these utensils has to be handled with ‘chattukam’ and need to be cleaned roughly with steel scrubber etc.. Thank you for sharing these information and the links if one needs to purchase. Looking forward for more videos like this.

    Hi Mahima I had bought seasoned cast iron cookware. But didn’t know about the maintenance and so it has rusted a bit. If I follow the method you gave using kanjivellam, can the texture and black colour be regained? It would be great if you could do a video on man chatti seasoning and cleaning..

I was checking the difference between Lodge Cast Iron Silicone Grill Pan, 10.5 Inches and Lodge Seasoned Finish 10-1/2-Inch Cast Iron Round Griddle.     Thanks. Very informative video. Can u pls advise from where u purchase both iron and cast iron cookware. Is all these items available for purchase online. V r in mumbai and would like to change our cookware to iron items. Also for castoning my grandma used a very old method. She used to dip and keep the utensil for 2 to 3 days in crowding water. Every day change the cowdungwater.

    If it is rusted , then use a steel wool and scrub well. Then follow the same method I mentioned in the video

    If using sunflower oil it might be sticky. But not when using coconut/ olive oil

    After cooking , wipe dry. Heat the cookware and apply oil. The more you use the better it will become if you take care as mentioned

    Heat the pan, when hot, scrub it using a wooden spatula to remove the oil stains. Wipe it with a cloth. And follow the seasoning method as mentioned in the video
