Sadly, it’s common for older men to think they’re entitled to younger women on dating sites. Many years ago I used to frequently get messages from people in their 50s and 60s when I was in my 30s, and it was upsetting to me, and totally inappropriate on their parts. After watching a bunch of these, it seems like they assume they're still as attractive and interesting as they were in their glory days. Like the men will talk about how awesome and athletic they were in high school as if it still holds up when they're 80.

I'm sure there are lots of decent women nearer his own age who would be happy to be with him but, no, he has to go for a young blonde woman clearly not in her 40s. What's the matter with these people?

I never feel sorry for anyone who sends money to a person they have NEVER met, but this guy seemed lovely, silly, but lovely. Poor bugger.

Years ago I became a widower and wanted to find a partner again, but it didn't work out. I dated local people I met on line. I learned to enjoy my own company and adapted to living a single life not by myself, but WITH myself. It was a relief to not need the company of others. I have friends I go out with, a spiritual group I enjoy the company of, but home with myself is now a joy in my life.

Same. Widow for 25 years and I’ve adapted them same way. One of my joys is being at home with my faithful dog and just enjoying my space. My life is my own and I do things my own way. It’s very liberating when you realise you don’t need the company of someone else 24/7. When I realised I had got to that point, I felt really free. An invisible burden/pressure left me. Fun fact: Spain has an excellent public and universal health care system (one of the best in the world). If the mother was supposedly getting surgery in Spain as a resident in Spain, it would be completely free for her.

Sorry bud, but when I was online dating I specifically said that I welcomed physical disabilities. I also didn't pretend to be younger or more glamorous than I was. I also was looking for men my own age. I do not have a smart phone, so no facetime and not even Skype- if a person had wanted to 'meet' it would have to be in person! No takers. Not one. I suspect they all want these young catfishers, rather than a sensible person who has been able to retire early with her life in order. These men need to just go out and speak to people, for heaven's sake. And lose the idea that they are attractive to much younger women. Unfortunately, the bar has now been set high for this man and no normal woman is going to measure up to his new standard.
