I’m aware there’s a audio error during a part of the video. My apologies. Like I said, I’m still recovering from a cold and as such was a little distracted

such a clever way to incorporate both versions of the story into one in a way that works :0

I wanted to take the best of both worlds. I wanted to keep the real life history with the Awdry’s but I also didn’t want to lose his Sodor Tramway origins because that’s my personal preferred backstory because of the world building, the model series would later create with it. So even if it delayed Toby joining the railway by about two years, I think it’s ultimately worth it.

I like how you put two origin stories for Toby and make it work! Fantastic job on the art for Toby as well!

Thanks. If I was forced to choose one or the other, I probably would’ve gone with the Sodor origin just because the television series is my default interpretation of Thomas & Friends, but the real life history with the Awdry’s was some thing I didn’t want to lose

@@Mr.Conductor13 The Sodor origin was mainly from how Britt envisioned her adaptation of RWS and Sodor, the whole magical place thing. Hence why mentions of other parts of the UK were removed, apart from some descriptors. I feel like removing the Awdry origin loses a bit of what made Toby special, I probably would’ve thought of new stories for him if it was just that origin. But yeah I really like what you did with Toby, good work.

My previous comment didn't send or something and I'm too lazy to rewrite it, cause it was a bit long. It was just about how my Toby's backstory was kinda the inverse of yours. Toby first went to Sodor to help the S&M, then operated a branchline of its, running up to Arlesdale. Then he would go to East Anglia, meeting the J70s, which were inspired by Toby's design. Toby is also the first nonfaceless machine. But he never gets metal fitted, or whatever, because they can just replace the old wood with new wood. As for the face, well we don't ask about it. We don't want another Shed 17, do we? I'm sorry if the old comment did send and this just restates it.😅

Oh, and I failed to mention that Toby first met Henrietta in East Anglia. And he's VERY old. Maybe older than Edward! Scratch that, definitely older than Edward.

@@Canadiansteamer43 Nah, he's still around and kicking. Age doesn't really affect an engine that much. He's been rebuilt so many times that the only original piece of him is probably his face...and bell, I guess.

If Toby was the first non-faceless machine, does that mean Edward is faceless?

@@Mr.Conductor13 What? No! Edward obviously has a face. Where did you get that?
