I feel like the reason people are upset about them shoehorning ki adi mundi in this show is it feels like it’s only to contradict the phantom menace… and I feel like we know Disney has done pretty badly with Starwars… wrecked the boba series, wrecked what could’ve been some of best Starwars media in the Kenobi series. There are parts of both series that I enjoyed but overall they dropped the ball with them both. People are fed up and I don’t blame them. the 6 George Lucas movies mean a lot to me so I personally don’t want Disney messing with any characters that could change the meaning in scenes from those movies, no matter how small the character

I personally didn't even notice Mundi. If I am being honest, even if he died in this show, I wouldn't care. In the original Luke and Laia were making out, then Lucas changed his mind and made them siblings instead of romantic partners. That seems like a far larger change than some random background character that says like once sentence in the entire prequal trilogy, having his age changed. Maybe it isn't a retcon and he is senile in the phantom menance? I just feel like it isn't a big deal.

The point of including Ki-Adi-Mundi in this show is that he was WRONG in TPM. This wildest part about this whole fake controversy is that supposed fans don't understand that. KAM's only reason for existing is to show that the Jedi had a blindspot regarding the reemergence of the Sith. The Acolyte is using him to explain why there was a plausible reason why the Jedi got caught so unaware 100 years later.

Where is this idea of Jedi kidnapping kids coming from? Qui Gon did a favor when release Anakin from slavery, and even then he wouldn’t haven’t taken him if his mother wouldn’t let him go. Anakin showed an interest in being a Jedi and so did Osha..

I still remember watching TPM in theaters as a kid and going on the internet afterwards only to see everyone ablaze about how George Lucas "forgot" that Jedi turned into ghosts when they died and complaining on how Qui-Gon's death completely contradicted the Original Trilogy. Even back then, people were acting ridiculous and didn't have the patience to at least let the story play out and judge from there. If people waited until ROTS, they would have seen that Lucas was setting Force Ghosts up. I see the Ki-Adi-Mundi thing similarly. And instead of having to wait 6 years, the wait will be less than 6 weeks. As you said, if this is all we get of him then yes, his inclusion here will be a very strange contradiction to his TPM line and I'll be dissapointed in that. But logically, the only reason they would have added Ki-Adi-Mundi here is to elaborate on the context of that line. I have no doubts that we'll see him be a part of some sort of cover up before the end of the season. I really think everyone should put down their pitchforks at least until then. Also just got to your Andor take of the video lol. Everyone is of course entitled to their opinion, but that's definitely the one part of this video that I disagree with haha. That's easily my favorite of the Disney Plus shows.

I think this show didn’t have much of a chance. All of the outside…noise…has been sad, to say the least. People need to be able to just say “this show just isn’t for me” every once in a while. I think so far it has been fine. I am a little worried about what they are going to do with the villain(s) because the villains usually make the show (and continuity with Plagueis and even Tennebrus is importent to me). I think a lot of the issues will get answered by the end. The show is a mystery. It is supposed to be vague until the end. Are there critiques and problems? Absolutely. Is it worth the toxicity and attack over and over and over? No.

It's made my head canon so that nothing Disney have ever made is canon (aside from CW S7). Aside from it being boring, cringe and woke, the fact that it tried to ruin Anakin's birth and chosen one prophecy, after they ruined his legacy / sacrifice by bringing Palpatine back to life, is just too much. This is what happens when you get talentless activists do write and produce the shows. And they keep doubling down on it, can't wait for the Rey movie by that woman who hates men.

@@starwarssith66 I've also seen that Yoda isn't in the show apparently. Most logical theory I've seen is that most / all the Jedi who know of this Sith die apart from Ki-Adi-Mundi, and he doesn't tell the Council about the Sith to protect himself after not informing the Council it in the first place. So in TPM when he says the Sith are extinct, he's just lying to protect his own back, making him a traitor. Hope that doesn't happen though.

I think Disney purposefully set this show up to stir up noise. Hear me out. They would’ve had to have known the backlash they would get from this. Waiting out 4 years to release it. Then in the show also exclude some pretty key elements that would’ve made it better. 180 million dollars! And they couldn’t add more footage. They got the actors and their time. Why make cuts? There is probably some Disney hierarchy rules that we aren’t aware of. But this is just fundamentally wrong. I want to like the show. It is a great concept, hands down. But as for Andor, my take on it is that it ‘‘tis a good show. Yes there is lots of parts I wish were cut to make the show move along faster. If season 2 is to a pace of like every other show, it’ll do much better. Also yesterday I met Sam Witwer! He was awesome to meet. The panel was pretty big, it was like an 8 person panel. The only downside to this convention I went to is that a lot of it is outside. The panels are held outside in big tents. The inside of them are like tin cans and trap heat. So I was like sweating the whole time 😂. Other than that it was good. This particular con is just getting more popular every year it happens.

Great video! I agree with you on many points, I like some parts of the show and dislike other parts of it. In terms of Ki Adi Mundi, I could care less about his legends age. My biggest issue is that so far, they are making him look like a liar with his statement about the sith being extinct for over a millennium, and because of that, a he is now considered a somewhat unethical Jedi. Some may pose the argument that, Smile-o-Ren is not a sith, but a masked red bladed force user who opposes the Jedi, historically is a sith. As a Jedi who eventually ends up on the high council, who are responsible for guiding the order, lying is definitely not the Jedi way. Especially a lie that some may argue now contributed to the downfall of the Jedi order. I’m going to continue watching the acolyte and I’m interested in seeing how all of this plays out.

There’s George Lucas’s Star Wars and then theres Disney canon - Disney canon has no respect for canon or legends. Everything about the prequels, the sequels have made irrelevant as their arc is to go against the grain. I hate to say it, but I truly believe this is the end for me with Disney destroying the SW legacy. I will always be grateful for the experience of SW prequels, the original trilogy and the clone wars cartoon series. The living force has been made irrelevant in the Acolyte. The force means nothing if it can be ‘manipulated’ to create life. Anakin being the ‘Chosen one’, his virgin conception, turmoil and redemption; quintessentially means that everything in the prequels and original trilogies is baseless. It’s a horrid sight and I cannot bear witnessing the debacle that Disney continues to create. All of this nonsense is perpetuated at the cost of legacy characters and bringing characters fans know in the opposite light; again no comprehension on how it contradicts and goes against the original narrative. It’s abysmal storytelling and a downright shame. The Mandalorian was the one thing I was interested in, again they have bought back Ahsoka to fit their narrative of the Jedi being evil and she being a lonesome Jedi traversing through the world by herself. Disney wants to create buzzwords with Hayden coming back etc. it’s a joke and a total farce. We love Star Wars not Disney Tripe! Destroying George Lucas’s legacy will not give Disney any more power to create such mediocre tripe. I would love for the supreme chancellor George Lucas to be given the powers back to create content.

People should wait the season end before bitch and moan too much. Seen it before, when people get overly emotional and angry, when the things solve on their own in the end of the season. Just relax and enjoy the ride before writing it off :D My only complaint so far is that the episodes should be at least 45min runtime (not counting credits in it), when the season is under 10 episodes. With shows close to 20 episode season, I get it that 30min episodes are enough, but need more content if things aren't super fast phased as you said. Ooh and I don't dig that they kill off the main faces so quickly and not giving them time to grow on us and get more emotion out of it. In that way I don't quite care about the characters and I'm just "Soo, next one please!". You promo out your show with faces that you kill of like mosquitos on the bonfire evening with your friends. I feel the show has been pretty decent so far. It might be slow in some parts but it seems like they are setting things up. The payoffs will make or break the show, so we have to wait to see. The last jedi and rise of skywalker had a ton of plot holes, and really absurd things going on, but none of that is happening here. This show completely makes sense. If there are problems, it is mostly pacing issues, stuff like the sister changing her mind too quickly, or the flashback running a bit long. Which is why I think the review bombing is unfair. Objectively, I think the show is solid mid tier, with the potential of even being very good if the setups pay off. I can see why some might not like the pacing, so maybe some would find it boring. I can't see how anyone could think it is the worst starwars movie/tv show though. Those people are just hating to hate.

However, so far, the show has at time wowed me (with the Ep 1 & 2 fight scenes even though they were similar) but at other times, made me go 'wtf?'. For example in Ep 4, Yord insists Osha hand over her blaster as it belongs to the Jedi Order. He then gets distracted when Jecki returns from speaking to the locals and that whole blaster topic never gets mentioned again Also later, as Smiley Ren approaches Osha, none of the Jedi attempt to move forward to protect Osha but just hang back and yell threats like 'Identify Yourself!' and 'Stand Down!'. Maybe it was done to give Smiley Ren a more dramatic entry but the scene just felt off to me

Yeah I get where you’re coming from. But after watch house of the dragons Season 2 episodes 1&2 I can’t give the acolyte any excuses. Season one of house of dragon reported a budget of over $100. So let’s say they and the acolyte had the same budget of $180 million. I would say the house of dragon did better at time management (giving us longer episodes than 30min), cinematography, writing, acting and immersion. They were able to captivate us as viewers by developing their characters whether we loved them or hated them, we still felt something for them. In the acolyte I can’t say I feel the same. The acolyte seems to be very condensed, claustrophobic, dense in writing/ acting and the immersion into the world building wasn’t executed properly in my opinion. Fast forward to season 2 of House of The Dragon episodes 1&2 have been nothing short of captivating, with the same attention to detail as the previous season. I think a lot of people who don’t like the acolyte are actual fans of Star Wars like myself, we know they can do better because we see better from other shows/ movies i.e. GOT, HOD, Dune franchise & Godzilla minus one just to name a few. Yes, you’re going to have those people that are disrespectful towards other that like the show/ don’t like the show. But I do think there’s a lot of people who truly like Star Wars and just think what they’re doing is lazy.

You seem to have a balanced appraoch to the show and know we are getting flashbacks so you are patient I like that about you. Good for you. Patience young padawan. Your irritation to the cackle by one witch is well taken. It did NOT bother me because George Lucas has desensitized me to cringe. I was 5 years old in 1977 when Han shot Greedo first. I saw it 10 times in the theater before I entered Kindergarten. In the 3rd grade at the age of 8 I saw the best movie in the eniter universe Empire Strikes Back. To this day it is perfect to me and I love every second of it. HOWEVER. At the age of 11 in the 6th grade I saw Return of the Jedi and BOY was I in for a shock. I remember sitting next to my mom at the Arden Fair Mall theater in Sacramento, CA and when Sy Snootles showed up ans dtarted cringe singing in Jabba's palace I was looking deep inside my soul and wondering if I liked Star Wars anymore. It was fucking rough. Then moments later my favorite character Boba Fett was killed like a worthless bitch (not the gangster bounty hunter I thought he was from the previous movie). THEN, omg, THEN Obi-Wan tells luke that Leia is his twin sister then I think I almost threw up my breakfast. WTF!? like WTF?! they just made out in the last movie and kissed in the first movie this is FUCKING CRINGE ADN DISGUSTING! Fucking gross George WTF are you doing to Star WArs?! Decades later i've been decensitized to cringe. It's a part of Star WArs (thanks George!). So when I see modern fans cringe at "the power of maaaany". I'm thinking to myself. You have NO IDEA WHAT CRINGE IS. I was destroyed at the age of 11 when I saw Darth Vader neuteuered by Geroge Lucas. It wasn't until Disney bought the franchise and brought Vader back to his gangster self in Rogue One with force chocking and one-liners. Something that was gone from Return of the Jedi. My point is CRINGE is part of Star WArs. It has ALWAYS been part of Star WArs BECASUE OF GEORGE LUCAS. 1983 was a rough year for a hardcore Star WArs fan like me. But now I'm used to it. Boba Fett got his momebt in episode 8 season 2 of Mando and then he became a little bitch in Book of Boba Fett. I blame George Lucas. You call can blame Disney for all the cringe. But the real ones like me who were there in the beginning know who REALLY brought the cringe. It was George. SMH at modern nerds. SMH.

Bruh, Ki-Adi-Mundi confused me too. I thought it was another Cerean to be a nod toward Mundi much like how another Kel Dor was there but wasn't Plo Koon. The Ki-Adi-Mundi appearance affects the canon of the council's knowledge of the Sith by Phantom Menace. If they knew about it, that would make them look bad when Quigon runs into Maul. If they didn't even with Mundi's knowledge of the twins then that is very messy. He'd have heard of a case where a twin was trained in the Jedi arts and would have to suspect The Sith later. Either he just never studied Sith by Episode I or was covering it all up. So far I'm mid leaning toward not liking the series. They took too many risks on the lore so far that I'm hoping has a good payoff. If it doesn't there is no way Lucasfilm will have another season unless it's to spite the fans. As a fan, I want new stories in Star Wars but within the lore established or expanding that lore. If you're going to take risks do it in a way that has no effect on the films canon. I feel something like a Level 1313 or Crimson Dawn stories is a great opportunity to play with. They do not involve Jedi/Sith stories and can expand the galaxy in some way. Andor was great for this reason because much like the prequels we know Andor's fate. We're just watching the events that lead him to where he is. It's also in a darker tone much like an espionage film with hints of the rebellion we know to come by 0 BBY. I feel this show should have had a long review process in Lucafilm before being considered for production. Something behind the scenes seems to be a muck in that team. We all know the talks about director changes, rewrites and whole abandoned projects. It's strange to me at a budget of $180m that this got through for a high risk TV Series.

As far as we know it was just some random other Cerean and someone just stuck his name in the credits as an easter egg. Also based on current information, it doesn't change cannon at all. He doesn't know any of the people are sith yet and they might not be sith. Also, even if all the speculation is true, that it is him and the bad guys are sith, and he becomes aware they are sith, how does that go against cannon? All the council members are lying hypocrites. Lying to protect themselves politically is entire in theme. The original, "technically your father is dead" bs came from Obi won, the most respect jedi around. Yoda was all with pretending Luke's father was dead too. Where was it ever established Mundi was a paragon of virtue who didn't believe in lying? Pretty sure that wasn't in any movie.

Your threshold for bad quality tv show is clearly bigger than mine. The characters 180 degrees changes, the lack of motivations, the speed of the chapters make this a bad series, specially if you think on the budget behind it. The script plays too much with catch and bait (from cool characters that dies right away, to hiding who is the villain, or even the real purpose of the series), is pushing too much to the second end of the series, "ill kill you", and later "my aliances are to my sister" just make no sense. Also Jedi kidnapping kids, doesn't make sense, perhaps had been in some books or animations, but not from the Lucas movies, and it is just some cheap narrative resources, killing the real meaning of JEDI trying to convert them to corrupt police, instead of just good space wizards. The witches stuff also was badly written, clearly based on something aimed more to a child animated series, than something that make sense. The thread is not to be wielded, then they wield it to drop some force pushes, the power of two... that do not go over still the power of one... and who knows what is the power of maaaannnyyyyyy. BTW, ezra miller would not make sense to help the witches to make the sisters, he is to young (that would be just a clear lazy writing to fool audience).

The problem with these "details" is that they take us from the immersion. Also the pre marketing campaign was awful! Too much about the patriarchy and politics, that shouldn't be the focus of anything Star wars, just remember, every word, interview, video are reviewed, edited by Disney marketing, so there was no accident. The only real "inclusive" phrases are the two horrible "I created them", "I carried them" and the "he or they".... with out marketing campaign, the series would have saved some of its backslash, but then if you add the script with the "Star wars had been mostly patriarchy" you get a feeling of secondary objectives, taking away from any fun. Also using Ki mundi is no accident, they want to show a contradiction, or at least another catch and bait

  • @Lilitha11

    @Lilitha11

I think all the character motivations do make sense. I get that the pacing is bad, and that is hurting the show, but the motivations are there. It is clearly established that Mae doesn't want to kill her sister, she is just upset that her sister wants to leave and never see her again. In a fit of rage she sets a fire, though it was likely more to intimidate her sister than to actually kill her. It is clearly established she does in fact love her sister. She wants to kill the jedi because she believes they killed her sister and her family. Either because they did(it really seems unlikely that the fire killed everyone), or she is suffering trauma thinks they did. So it makes perfect sense, that if her sister is alive, that she would want to join her. Her changing minds quickly even feels pretty reasonable, given she appears very emotional and potentially a bit unstable. They definitely could of done that transition better, but I think all the elements are there for it to make sense. The same is true with Osha's waffling. She was always indecisive, then the one big decision she made(to join the jedi), turned out badly. So of course she lack confidence.

The Sith are the worst of the worst. It’s like having two Mafias, let’s call one the Sith Mafia and the other Htis Mafia. The Sith are the most feared Mafia, but were stopped in 1924 and some guy who was born in 1980 witnessed a member of the Htis Mafia killing people in 2014. Fast forward to 2024 and the Sith are back and this guy says “But they haven’t existed for 100 years.” I don’t think people are going to suddenly say “Well that one guy ten years ago actually”, because he wasn’t a Sith.

"Let's just... Just.... Just relax." You summed up why I enjoy your takes. I have plenty of my own issues with this show. Pacing, cinematography, the fact it feels like a TV show (but with nearly a movie budget)... But come on guys. Everyone is absolutely losing their shit about "lore crimes", "wokeness", "DEI" (and other bigoted BS)... it's as if no one remembers that this is supposed to be a fun fantasy world with laser swords and space wizards. People legit crapping their pants and crying themselves to sleep over this stuff. Thanks for keeping a level head. As a fan of shows that are a but darker and present good character development via a slow burn, I 100% disagree with your take on Andor 😅

The problem with this show isn't the small stuff (Ki Adi Mundi). The real problem with this show is the story & the characters. When your characters have zero relatability and make stupid decisions how and why are the audience supposed to relate and care for these people? Take the twins...... "I wanna join the jedi" "I'LL KILL YOU!". escalate much? Then you got in Episode 4. Ohsa finds her long lost dead twin sister 5 mins ago. Then she says "i'm off, nothing left for me to do". Come on. Bad writing. The Jedi are badly written, all stoic and boring. This show has exactly the same problems Ahsoka had. Its boring. Utterly boring. Andor may have been paced slowly but it did one thing right. You are invested in every single character good or bad. Christ. Kino Loy was in 3 episodes and he'll go down in SW history as one of the best characters ever. Its ALL in the writing.

Idk about that for Andor. Wasnt invested in any of those characters at all especially Cassian knowing his fate. A lot of people felt the same about Andor as well its split 50/50 people either love it or dont. Ahsoka on the other hand for me was far from boring but im a huge Rebels fan so it literally was the continuation of that story. Ahsoka felt like Star Wars. Andor felt like a HBO Max show about outerspace

Nice that we can share our opinions, disagree and not tear into each other. Deffo true about Andor as you know Cassians fate which is a shame. Likely quite a few of these characters will go before the end but at least we understand motivations for everyone in Andor. You just can't say that about the Acolyte. No one should really care about Ki-Adi Mundi’s birth year this much. That’s utter nonsense! But what I really care about is that the inclusion of this character without any context as to why we’re seeing him in this show given his lines in TPM makes me feel like it was a deliberate action to chide fans. If that’s the case, they added him for spite and to CREATE more division and not UNIFICATION, which frankly is what I’m begging DLF to freaking do! Like desperately! I’m so tired of the fandom fighting each other to the point of death threats! I believe the creation of the twins NEEDS TO BE EXPLAINED, much like Ki-Adi Mundi’s appearance. But that’s not going to take anything away from Anakin’s immaculate conception, imo. If these girls were created as a manipulation of the Force, that’s a perversion of the Force. Anakin wasn’t created by anyone, no one manipulated the Force to create him, he was created BY THE FORCE ITSELF. That’s the big difference, but fans need to have that FORMALLY EXPLAINED. Overall these four episodes are at a 4/10 for me, and that’s partly because of the fight sequences and the set design - far superior than Obi-wan Kenobi which should have had the biggest budget of all shows. The plot is mid at best, the dialogue is the worst part, and some of the acting has been very poorly executed. The twin girls did not get the right direction to do the job as well as little Princess Leia did in Obi-wan Kenobi (and I did NOT like most of that show but it had some highlights). I feel they’ve taken George Lucas’ Akira Kurosawa influences too literally. Like way too literally! He was inspired by Akira but he didn’t take it that far as to 1:1 match it. But the fight sequences have been fun to watch. They just don’t seem like Star Wars that much to me. But… I also don’t know how and if they’re going to explain all of this. So leaving fans in limbo like that causes dissent and confusion which leads to anger and frustration. The last thing our Star Wars fandom needs.

Poor filmmaking choices have taken what’s an otherwise interesting plot on paper and left things feeling like there’s something missing. Quite upsetting though that I’m seeing so many fans making up things just for the sake of being mad. A friend of mine watched a video complaining about the show and asked me “Is The Acolyte about someone getting revenge on the Jedi because the Jedi are homophobic?” Like that’s the agenda people are pushing and it’s hilarious because the plot has nothing to do with that. Also I love how no one loses their mind when Lucas changed Luke and Leia’s age to make them twins, but god forbid you retcon Ki-Adi-Mundi. These same people also passionately argue that the Inquisitors aren’t Sith and Kylo Ren and Snoke aren’t Sith, but all these wild assumptions that this person in the mask is a Sith and it ruins everything is just dramatic. While I’m currently saying it’s about a 5/10, I think it could very easily change with the second half. Also since you mentioned it, Andor is actually my favourite Star Wars property ever, like it overtakes Empire for me. For me it was a masterpiece. I do however understand why some people may think it’s too slow, personally slow builds are something I’ve always loved.

    3 күн бұрын

@@hoos3014 the dialogue is extremely expositional. The majority of the dialogue is telling someone their own backstory or feelings, or telling someone else their feelings and thoughts." It's a textbook example of bad dialogue. Secondly, the time dialation is jarring. Events happen simultaneously that shouldn't. Poor plotting that should not have been overlooked. A great example is OSHA crashing and having a force vision. This small event happens, while the escaped prisoners escape, get recaptured, get brought to Coruscant, placed in cells, interrogated by Jedi, who then form a group to go to the planet. This is days or at least a day of time passing while OSHA gets up and walks into a cave, where she then meets Sol. Another is her somehow getting to Torbin before everyone else, despite being separated. Then there are plot contrivances, like OSHA surviving an unguided freefall from space completely unharmed. All they had to do was have her grab the controls and at least attempt a better landing to make it more believable. Secondly, the witch coven uses electricity everywhere in their base, EXCEPT in the location where the writers needed a fire to happen. The stone room catching on fire. OSHA being sent on a prison transport instead of being escorted back. They think she killed a Jedi master, so they send a Jedi knight and a padawan after her? There are better ways of making the Jedi seem incompetent than to just make them look stupid for the plots sake. Character motivations are left unexplored, or just changed at a moments notice. Torbin being suicidal, but still keeping a force shield up? Mae makes laughably stupid decisions, despite being trained for years by a sith. An example is using the exact poison she grew up with (which Qimir made without even being asked), and then leaving the bottle there to be found. Why would she even think to use poison that has to be infested? She has no idea that he is suicidal? All she knows is that his force shield won't let her through. She stirs up a bunch of dust to escape the Jedi, but that's total nonsense. The very first training Luke gets is how to use the force to sense everything around you, instead of your eyes. They take an alien to track Kelnacca, despite their being droids that can do that. Also, their are 2 Jedi masters present. Just use the force? The entire flashback episode is completely pointless. It doesn't give us much new information, other than introducing the witches. It could, and should have just been the first episode. I was honestly so excited about this show. I was happy we were getting high Republic stuff. I think it's an interesting and unexplored part of the Star wars story, but by the end of the 2nd episode, I was so so disappointed in the final product. Episode 3 was meh, except for the ceremony part, which was unbearably cringe worthy. Then episode 4 was boring as hell, with 9 exposition dialogue scenes and a really unfunny pronoun joke, that frankly, as a member of the rainbow committee, I was insulted by. I just don't have high hopes for the rest of the series. As it stands, it's a 4/10. Master Sol is the best character by far, and the actor is absolutely astounding. I really hope they use his character in some better material
