There are a gazillion Queen videos where you can see the whole band . This video is unique . I agree no one sounds like Brian May except Brian and no one sounds like Freddie Mercury except Freddie… and for me the same thing goes for Deaky and Roger 💕✌🏼

HEYYY GUYS!!! You got my subscription just for reacting to “not run-of-the-mill, same-old” Queen that everyone else does… THANK YOU! I ALWAYS LOVE watching Queen & Freddie perform, imperfections and all… because it was always about putting on a unique show - DIFFERENT every time - and having the audience engaged with them in-the-moment. And, as was said, they were such a tight unit - perfectionist is their skills and rehearsals - that it gave Freddie the freedom during shows to be able to just “go with his gut” and ad lib any way he felt moved to. (Fred had said that when he went onstage, he “never knew what was going to happen”, which was also why he never wanted to be choreographed.) Fred knew he could do anything, and the other three had his back. P.S. Near the beginning where Fred is playing piano w/o singing some lines, that’s because the audience IS singing the lines out loud FOR him (so he’s just letting them do that). Unfortunately, the audio mix on this video “leaves something to be desired” and we can’t hear the audience. (The only reason I know this, is because there is a FANTASTIC quality remastered version of this whole concert uploaded on KZread, and in that version… you CAN hear the audience singing!)🫶

I'd suggest watching the official documentaries on the Queen channel, no two shows were ever the same and they work very much by eye with each other Dr Sir Brian May will look at Fred John and Roger, then all look towards Fred and wait for the signal which was the arm flick, and the Amps built by John the unique Red Special built by Sir Brian and his dad from items around the family home in the 60's he knew how he wanted it too sound, they had their own lighting rig by the time of this concert

Queen is brilliant; Freddie, (Roger (drummer), John (bass) and Brian (guitar) were actually a musical "unit". This was recorded when they started out, and even at that time, you can tell they were totally in sync (this is simply the 4 musicians. their instruments and a stage - no enhancements.) I suggest you take a look at Find Me Somebody To Love - must be live at Montreal 1981. This live performance is absolutely brilliant and demonstrates each musician's individual talent, and the amazing interaction they have with each other. Thank you, I love your reaction!!

Thanks for this reaction. Sounds like Freddie is a bit tired in this one, or maybe his throat was giving him issues. Whenever that happened, Roger is right there to jump in and add richness or even take over if needed. This band was a tight unit of players.

Ditto a few other comments below - next up, a lessor known song from earlier Queen called "White Queen - Live at Hammersmith - Odeon 1975" ( the one from the Queen Official site is cleanest.) Brian's guitarwork is so cool.

Great reaction! This was the time where there was no in ear monitors, and a lot of improvisation on stage. Queen were very profession compared to most during these times. I suggest Father To Son - Queen live at the Rainbow 1974 or White Queen live at the Hammersmith Odeon 1975, for real master class performances, some of the best live performances you will ever see. Freddie was like a charisma magnet, people just wanted to watch him, the rest of the band understood this. This was a unique concert, it was a charity event organized by Paul MacCartney, to raise money for refugees from Cambodia. So there were actually a few bands that performed on the day, including Paul MacCartney and Wings alongside The Who and The Clash. So this was a very interesting mixture of bands. But Queen did manage to steal the show. Some of the best song on the night include Somebody To Love, Now I am Here, Save Me, Tie Your Mother Down and Sheer Heart Attack. Queen did not actually perform Don't Stop Me Now a lot live, they only did it a handful of times, in their time it really wasn't a big hit for them. The song's popularity grew over the years. At this stage The Hammersmith Odeon was too small for Queen, it is a venue they often used in their earlier years.

I agree with every comment you made today. Queen is a very tight unit...always in sync. Even from their beginning in the early 70s, they seemed to instinctively know each other and could depend on each other to "fill in" if Freddie missed a note/lyric or if Brian broke one of the Red Special's strings, etc. In other words, they somehow knew how to make magic in the studio or on stage right from the start of their long career together. Legendary! Brian May is a totally amazing guitarist...I could hear him play every day. Just this morning I listened to "Bijou" from the Queen album, "Innuendo". As the title suggests, it is a GEM which shows off Brian's unique, creative guitar skills almost more than any other Queen song in their huge catalog. If you don't know it already, do yourselves a favor and listen to it sometime...it will impress you I'm sure. Sir Brian recently was ranked as the best guitarist in the world. Whether anyone agrees with that ranking or not (Brian even said that he takes rankings "with a pinch of salt"...so humble), I believe that he deserves every accolade he receives! I love your thorough reactions. I appreciate that the people who react actually know something about the bands on your reactions....that is so refreshing! I subbed the first time I heard your reaction to a Queen song - I'm glad I subbed when I did because, since then, I have learned quite a bit from your various reactors about other bands that I have listened to and enjoy but don't know as thoroughly as I know Queen, Led Zep, Fleetwood Mac, Journey, etc....all those bands that were part of my life in the 70s and 80s. Thanks for that and thanks for another wonderful reaction. Cheers!!

A snippet about the lyric "I'm a racing car passing by, like Lady Godiva." According to lore, in Medieval England, Lady Godiva said to her husband that she would ride naked on horseback, through the streets of Coventry, if he promised to lower the taxes that the poor people had to pay. He obliged and so she rode disrobed, with her "Modesty" only covered by her very long golden tresses. Her husband, the Lord, had ordered that everyone had to stay indoors and all the windows had to be shuttered but it was said that one local man named "Tom" couldn't resist having a sneaky peek through his window as she passed by and it is alleged that this is where the phrase "A Peeping Tom" originates from.

"obviously it's a live performance" tbh when it comes to queen i always found the live performances better than when they cleaned the song up on the album tbh, like if they had just put all their live performances on an album and released them as is they would have still been just as good.

A perfect example of how Queen could read each other and adjust while on stage is during the performance of "Somebody To Love" in Montreal in 1981 - kzread.info/dash/bejne/k3Vmq7SogKmvnpM.html. If you pay attention when Freddie rises from the piano the second time and walks to center stage, you can see him notice that Brian has headed upstage away from the mic to take care of something. I have no idea what the problem Brian had to take care of except it wasn't a broken string on his guitar. Whenever that happened, he would simply switch to his backup guitar which he didn't do this time. Maybe he felt he needed to retune. Freddie, knowing Brian needed some time, simply smoothly engaged the audience and kept them engaged in the performance until you see him look back over his left shoulder and see Brian is ready to return to the mic. Then Freddie began the chant "Find me somebody to love" and Brian steps back in front of the mic to sing the chant. Whether Roger or John ever knew there was an issue it is impossible to tell since they continued as though this interlude as if it was practiced and expected. That is pure professionalism.

Sorry, I have to disagree a bit. Being a die-hard Queen fan (especially of their live-appearances) since 40 years, I have to say, that this performance is outstanding and nearly perfect. Freddie's singing is flawless (being in his prime time: end of 1979 until mid of 1982). The problem is though, that this concert (Hammersmith, 26 december 1979) never got an official release with an improved general sound - so the sound does not come up to nowadays expectations (especially Brian's sound - not his playing!). So the general sound is the problem - and nothing else. When you compare this performance to the version on the Live Killers album (which I love also very much) you know, what I mean.
