Taking care of my pregnant hamster Paprika
Miss Paprika is now Mrs Paprika
A litter of longhaired (may have rex) cream hamster babies is expected since both Paprika and Pineapple are pedigree longhaired black-eyed cream hamsters (recessive gene)
I have had hamsters for over 20 years and started learning breeding in 2010. I hope to keep breeding show quality hamsters for health and temperament (abide by NHC Code of Ethics). I am also aiming for continuous care improvement should there be any new information that I am not aware of.
Please do not breed hamsters at home without sufficient knowledge of hamster genetics, which includes but is not limited to mutations, inheritance, crosses, sex linkage, etc.

This made my day! I used to feed my hamsters oatmeal with a little almond milk in a little bottle cap in the fall and winter. Seeing that brought back sweet memories with them. On top of everything, of course, I'm so excited to see the litter Paprika is carrying! I pray for a safe delivery!

@@jhjasperhamster2714 It was whatever vegan milk alternative my family brought home. My dad would bring rice, soy, almond, and oat milk. Whichever was available I'd use. I never fed them the nuts themselves but I'm pretty sure I did use almond milk at some point. Didn't really have as much access to hamster knowledge 15 years ago...I hope it didn't lessen their lifespans, but they lived to be 2 years each time.

Ah congratulations. She certainly is a careful mum bless her little heart. The noises made when eating were so sweet. I hope the babies are doing very well. They certainly won't want for anything, I think your amazing at looking after the little flibbertigibbets 😍

So happy for Paprika!! You seem very experienced with hamster breeding and made sure to give Paprika lots of nutrients before her labor, which is great. Sorry abt that bite on your hand! Ouch!! Paprika is probably In defense mode to protect her pups. 😂
I used to have hamsters from mid-2020 to early 2021. I'll sure miss them.
So cute! I also had a pregnant hammy and we used to give her eggs as well! She was such a good mother and all her babies survived!

Those babies are going to be super duper cute!! I've totally got a soft spot for fluffy Golden Syrians. I bought mine from a reputable show breeder in the UK, and he looks a lot like Pineapple! Big, golden and round with black ears and tufts of white fluff! Come to think of it, all my previous Hamsters look a lot like Pineapple.. Hmm. I must have a "Type"! :D Can't wait to see more of the babies!!!
It is not easy to handle pregnant animals, you even got bitten! You really have a kind heart and I think they appreciate!

its a good lesson to learn that most rodent moms wont let you handle/get your hands close to them when they are close to or have given birth. My mama rat was like this also, but got to understand they don't mean anything bad with it, its just instincts. Mama rat had her babies and when ever i would spot clean, she would run to the scooper and attack it- when normally she had payed no attention. so to avoid stressing her and to be able to keep her cage relatively clean, i started letting her walk out of her cage when she felt like it (and I was home ofc), making sure she wouldn't mind me cleaning and checking up on the babies as much. she was a great mom and all of her 13 babies grew big and strong! Made sure to handle them lots, check their weight and to get to know them! All of the babies grew up to be active, curious and sweet lil things- boys often giving kisses to hands and girls climbing onto shoulders. I truly wish I could have kept them, but had to give all the rats away because of worsening allergies... :C I still love them and they will all be VERY dear to me, made even paintings of my rats.
Boiling vegetables caused leaching where the vitamins leave the vegetables and enter the water, so unless you drink the water too, boiled vegetables aren't that healthy
I am sure the babies will be blessed with in the first week
