This episode was the first-ever appearance of Harley Quinn in DC media in general. She was originally created specifically for this episode but was so popular she became a recurring character alongside the Joker and was officially introduced into the comics shortly after. She has remained an incredibly popular character in pop culture and one of the most synonymous female comic book characters to date. In the show, she was voiced by Arleen Sorkin, who tragically passed away a couple months ago, and Bruce Timm, creator of the show, actually took influence for Harley's design from Arleen Sorkin's performance as a jester in 'Day's of Our Lives' broadway.

I still have not seen a live action depiction of Joker that matches the perfection Mark Hamill brought to this role.

To think Harley was written just for this episode and she worked so well people kept asking to have her back.

@@EwMatias Nowadays she's become just so different, yeah it's good to see development, but I just wish we'd go back to this, just for a while.

My favorite Batman villain has to be Hush, real name Thomas Elliot. He was a former childhood friend of Bruce Wayne who became envious of the latter's loving parents due to his own abusive parents. He orchestrated his parents' own demise, but Thomas Wayne managed to save his mom, causing him to hate the Waynes, and by extension Bruce. He soon discovers Bruce's identity as Batman thanks to the Riddler, and has since become Hush and dedicated his life trying to kill Bruce/Batman

I love the music in this episode. It's just so perfect for this episode.

No one plays Joker better than Mark Hamill just like no one plays Batman better than Kevin Conroy. They will always be the definitive Batman and Joker duo.

Mark Hamil (Joker) also did the voice of Chucky in reboot of Child's Play 2019.

And that's why road rage is dangerous. Never know when you might piss off a supervillain. Harley is great here naturally but Charlie steals the show at the end. I like seeing everyday heroism from ordinary citizens lacking Batman's intense training and massive resources.

I believe this is Harley Quinn's first debut. She was created for this show.

One of my favorite episodes. It's even the first Joker episode I saw (since I think it's the first Joker episode they aired on Fox Kids). Since after seeing the 1989 Batman, I was surprised to see Joker showed up. And funny how they aired this Joker episode first with the first introducing of Harley Quinn. 😁 8:46 The goons' names are Rocco and Henshaw.

I know you’re watching Batman TAS but I can interest you in a character that is more darker than Batman and that is Todd MacFarlane’s Spawn. And one of the most scariest clowns in comic book history,a literal demons. And a character that made a literal deal with the devil to return from the dead in order to see his wife,but secretly unknown to him is a important piece of the puzzle with the battle between heaven and hell.

Harley Quinn as you may know was an original creation for Batman the Animated Series similar to how Mr. Freeze's origin was an original creation for the Animated Series that was later adapted in the comics as well but the story doesn't end there. The character was almost entirely based both in terms of appearance and personality on the soap opera actress Arleen Sorkin and a character she played in Days of Our Lives. Paul Dini, the co-creator of Batman: The Animated Series, saw the scene of Sorkin dressed up in her colorful garb on television and was inspired to create a character for the episode, “Joker’s Favor”. Sorkin, a friend of Dini's, voiced the character for Batman: The Animated Series. Sorkin relates a story about how she pitched a fantasy sequence to the producers of Days of our Lives, a soap opera on which she had a substantial role. Fans of Harley give credit to Batman: The Animated Series for bringing her into the world, but Arleen Sorkin’s own influence doesn’t get brought up nearly enough like Harley's appearance and unique accent (which is why it always upsets me when they make fun of the accent in other adaptations because it was just how Arleen spoke). The attire Arleen wore chill was the inspiration behind Harley's jester outfit which is considered by fast to be her best design to this day as opposed to are more modern look which many have a complained just looks like a violent cheerleader. It was Sorkin’s idea for a fantasy sequence that got her dressed in the clown outfit that inspired Paul Dini. Had she not come up with that creative spark, Harley Quinn never would have been created.
