Real quick to say something right put the blame the parents right well guess what you broke up the black family home what do you expect to happen everybody don't realize something there's a big difference on how people in society is develop big difference in generations same old same blame the parents go to the root of the problem but I seriously doubt y'all really know what the root of the problem is don't want to talk about that right you're on the outside looking in but real quick to make comments right 🤔 how about you look at the full picture oh that's why you can't look at it cuz it's pretty ugly now easier to blame the parents 👍✅

I'll find you when I'm ready to go.". My parts told me, "Put your hands in your packets and every time I look down I better see you or your ass will pay when we get home.". Guess which child didn't tear up things are Walmart? Guess which kind was home once the street lights came in, if not before. Guess which kid has never car jacked a vehicle.

He's 12 years old. Don't let him out of the house if he's running with the wrong crowd and you know about it. Turn him in to police if you know he's involved in crimes. Did anybody in this family call CPS or the police for help? He's dead because he wasn't parented and disciplined. If you want people 'held accountable', it starts at home. When we were growing up, you had to be in the house by the time the street lights came on, and we didn't live in a crime-ridden area. Your parents required that they met every friend you hung around with, and usually knew who their parents were.

Sad thing is when folks speak to people about their wayward children they become hostile and ask "how dare you tell me about my child" yet when that child grows to commit crimes or a victim of the life then societal conditions are blamed. However, things are just way different than when we 40 and over people were kids. We could have fights without getting killed after, we were disciplined by any adult and we never talked back, and we were held accountable and given tasks. I feel sorry for these kids that have no structure, no sense of community, and no respect taught for elders. Not saying all, but we are seeing too much violence and such with our babies. And it is not a color thing for those that will try it.

My mother single handedly raised 4 girls and 2 boys. She instilled fear in us at an early age. We had to play near our home, she monitors our friends and if we didn't abide by her rules she was on us like white on rice. During down time and summer vacation she kept us busy. She enrolled my brother in a boys choir that traveled to other cities. She forced us to get summer youth jobs. And every Saturday we had to get up early for Saturday clean up. My dad was not available due to psychiatric issues. I always said my mom should have written a book called "Mom Rules." My sister raised her 3 sons and my nephew using the son principles and they are all outstanding young men. So proud. We don't play with these kids. Now I have grands and we stay on top of them.

I’d do it again in a heartbeat. I was warned by so many folks how because I was solo, my child would be a criminal, turn out horrible, etc. Kids thrive on discipline and may resent you at the time but they always know they’re loved and you and your family are proof of that. When I was six years old, my mom was six months pregnant with what would be her ninth and last child, when she was preparing lunch for my dad to take to work. A loud crash from the bedroom🥹🥹my mom rushed in: Massive heart attack🥹🥹My mom, by the Grace and Mercy of God, raised four boys and five girls! No stepfather, no boyfriend (not over my daughters😂😂) God is good: Among us, though people tried to “burn bread”, saying none of us would ever amount to anything, are various degrees, from Associates to Masters’ several certifications, and we all obtained some of the most awesome employment!! By the time I was fourteen (the age I was when my mom died) I could cook any meal for the whole family if my mother was sick. My daughter, and her daughter in turn. are excellent cooks!! Our mother used to walk us to Sunday School and church services. We had bible study regularly. When our mother passed we were kinda tossed to & fro but the love, respect, and all the other teaching’s from our mom, and I’m sure her many prayers, kept us pretty much in line! Now, EVERY Saturday morning, without fail, is bible study via conference call spanning three time zones. Prayer & praise are a part of this weekly “gathering”. It bothers me sometimes when I hear people say women can’t raise her kids alone! OR kids MUST have a father to turn out right!! What of us whose dads passed away?! Lol, at 12 years old it's difficult to assign blame solely on his poor decision-making. This is the fault of the parents (if they were even in his life), his guardians, grandmother, and the community, just a complete failure that continues to repeatedly occur. We can't expect outsiders to come to the aid of black Americans when there's a clear lack of discipline and apathy toward education, responsible parenting, hard work, and respect for the law. The only easily attainable solution that could work is to disperse historically black neighborhoods into more diverse places to prevent the low income from living in concentrated pockets of hopelessness.

As a father and grandfather I can say that a lot of times you don't know what your kids do when you're not around The accountability is not always on the parents. In other words I did things when my mom wasn't always around if I knew I could get away with it. It's the same thing now, so stop always putting the fault on the parent because the parents may not always be around. Kids will try to do something right under your nose so we know that they will try something when your back is turned.

I agree, folks say kids are easy to manipulate, ok why didn’t you manipulate them, put the fear of god in him, “ If you don’t raise your kids, the streets will”. I moved away from my city years probably decades ago, but my family was still there. Now, my grown children, see all their cousins either dying or going to jail. My 36-year-old son called me one day and said Mom, thank you, and I said Son for what and he said because all three of us Are sitting in our living rooms at home watching TV while our cousins are out looking for the people that shot one of my other cousins. He said, we could be riding in that car. And at that moment, I knew that he realized all his life what I was doing.

Oh Ms. Gloria this hits home, I was a troubled youth due to things like domestic violence, sexual abuse. It was rough I didn’t graduate high school later, I did a lot of things to survive. Now my mom was there but because of the dysfunction she had brought into my and my siblings life there was no good communication as I began to get older and could see her issues and mistakes as well as my own. I had my son when I was twenty-five it wasn’t until then that I really started getting myself together, I still made mistakes like in picking his father, but if you really knew my circumstances you’d understand. I ended up being the best mom I could be, raised three boys. My step-son, my nephew and my baby boy. I did my best I promise you, I struggled to be a good mother i had days where I even had to take my son to work and school. I did many things for my son that my mother never was able to do for me, but out of everything I did I couldn’t keep him from the street😢😢😢😢😢😢. His father was never really in the picture, nor his fathers family, I made sure he graduated, had him in college. Unfortunately, the lessons I taught him about street life, he didn’t believe maybe because I’m a woman I don’t know. Shortly after his high school graduation, a couple of years he was put into a back against the wall kind of situation. He is now currently incarcerated, it will be a long time. But in this midst of our tribulations and trail God was still good and blessed him with a daughter. I never knew my father, didn’t meet him until I was 45, my son’s father even with all my son’s trouble still not in his life. Even if it’s behind from behind bars we will break the curse of the fatherless. I wish he had listened to me, he does to. I never wanted this for my son, Ms. Gloria. Sometimes I blame myself, many things I taught him were wrong, but I taught him what was taught to me. I thank God everyday for my granddaughter, and I pray that I can help raise her better than my mother did with me and I with her father. I happy to say she love her dad, and he love her. It’s my goal that she always knows that regardless to his absence, that she knows we as a family love her and will always be there for her. I am where you have been, pray my strength, days like today the weight of my circumstances are weighing me down. God bless you and yours

She lost me when she said he was out there doing things they Made him do. At 12 he shouldnt have been out there. Parents, G-parents(if thats whos raising the child) need to stop making excuses and take accountability for letting their kids run wild. She sits there blaming the city and others for her blind eye. That kid was 12 with an ankle monitor and she has the nerve to sit there with No accountability. The system tried to help too its ability, this kids family failed him and the streets ate him. Using kids for crime isnt new thats why we have moral stories like Oliver twist. The lack of home training is the main issue with soceity today.

Why you let a kid on the streets unsupervised?? Now you want blame it on older kids. Take responsibility for your mistakes. That kid was going on the wrong path and the way he was being raised he was going to become another problem to society. Weak minded parents, need to grow up.

I feel for her losing a child😢but why is she talking like a 3rd party observer to the situation? Was she not involved in his upbringing? She says the older kids did this to him, the older kids influenced him, the older kids took advantage of him. Where was his parents to influence him? Where was his guardians to guide him? If there is no mentorship at home, kids will get it from the streets.
