My Garage Build (64x40 Automotive Shop)

Ойындар

In this video I document my shop build. It's 64x40 building with storage trusses above it. I give a tour, share construction pictures and discuss the build process and decisions I made. I cover everything from framing, trusses, electrical, lighting, heating and plumbing etc..
If you are planning on building your dream garage hopefully this video gives you some tips and ideas. There was a lot of planning involved. Towards the end of the video I discuss costs and talk about things I'd do differently if I were to start over.

Made it to the end. 40x60 is mt dream shop also, with plans in back of my mind for more room later. I will be doing something this spring for my garage.

Nice shop. I am impressed. I am the DIY type myself, built a lot of my 30x40x12, but there is no way in hell I am finishing all of that sheetrock myself. I'll hang the sheetrock and pay someone to tape/mud it.

By far and away the best break down of a garage/shop build. I cannot think of any other video that comes close to the detail level you provided. You did not miss a single thing. What shocked me to most was the cost breakdown, I had assumed you were going to say $200,000, and then say “probably higher by todays prices”. That is to say you got a $200,000 garage for half price, amazing. What part of the US are you in? This garage would cost a quarter million in CT.

Thanks! I'm in northern Vermont. It would have cost a lot more if I didn't do a lot of the work myself. I think doing it pre-inflation and pre-supply chain issues helped. Can I ask you where you found this video? I've seen a huge uptick in views the last few days so I'm wondering if someone shared it somewhere.

At the 1hr mark... for lighting with your current setup, look up "light tubes" or "tubular skylights." You could easily install a few of those into your current roof/ceiling to give you some natural light upstairs.

Great job. For your lights problem get some wifi light switches, you can turn off from bed. Wifi thermostat would be great also. Good work.

I think the rp03s are discontinued. If you do find a set though they will not work with your factory calipers (or at least 2g calipers). The spoke near the hub will hit. I think you could grind a little material off the calipers and they'd work though. Unsure about 1g vr4 calipers.

They definitely clear 2g calipers. I'm not positive about 1g calipers but I'd think so. Even though it's a 1g 93 vr4, I have 2g front and rear brakes on it.

    64 x 40 = 2,560 square feet 52 x 52 = 2,704 square feet Same amount of building materials. A square is better than a rectangle.
