My Fuji X100V Street Photography Setup
My complete X100V street photography setup with all the accessories and settings you need to hit the street running! The Fuji X100V is an excellent camera right out of the box but with a few tweaks it becomes a lean mean street photography machine!
For accesories, I use a good leather strap, a protective filter, a thumbgrip and a soft release. And I turn off any settings that will introduce delays or unpredictable behavior so the camera is always ready for the next shot!
Watch the video for all the details on my X100V street photography setup!

This guy is fun and nerdy. I subscribe!
new sub from Italy 😉😉
Had/have the original x100 then the x100v the moment it was released and before it became forever unavailable lol. Love 'em
Great video! I love my X100V! I always use it with a hand grip.

Sweet! Lots of people like hand grips but the thumb grip always just worked for me so I never really looked beyond that... Which grip do you use?

@@karledwards Is made from ULANZI, the name is uuRig R034. I don't like thumb grips because the X100v is perfect for flash photography as it can sync with any speed (limited only by the flash) and sometimes i use the Ef-20 external flash to have more power at distance. This camera is perfect for fill flash.

@@mariodamato966 Thanks Mario! Ya, I generally take the thumb grip off when I'm shooting flash ... But lately I've been leaving it on and using the built in flash to trigger the hand held flash. Not a perfect solution though.
I have the Lensmate. One important point is the rubber behind the thumb grip where you place maximum pressure. This rubber piece prevents torquing the hot shoe. Cheaper thumb grips leave a space behind the thumb area. When putting pressure on this point you end up placing torque pressure on the hot shoe.

Agreed! Pretty sure it's silicone at the thumb just like the fins that hold the grip in place in the hotshoe. Either way it's an excellent product!
Can you do a video on how you set your exposure when walking around? How about exposre to the right to get sensor saturation. How to do this while wlaking around without introducing delays?

That's a good idea! Will put it on the list. Spoiler alert - manual exposure is pretty easy once you decide to meter for the light in the scene, instead of for each subject... ;)
I like to shoot at f8 or f11 @ 1/500th second. To keep those settings I change the ISO to set my exposure. I have the ISO set to C on the physical ISO dial and map ISO to the front scroll wheel.
@karledwards

Thanks Gerry. Great idea mapping the ISO to the front scroll wheel... I used to do that on previous versions of the X100 with the embedded ISO dial. But the way they implemented this feature in the X100V finally works as expected for me!!

@@karledwards yeah, it’s better than on previous versions, but still not as dynamically accessible in situations where frequent adjustment of ISO is required.
@karledwards
Жыл бұрын
@@gerryorkin Definitely comes in handy! I never really find myself in those kinds of shooting situations on the street... I normally just adjust shutter speed when exposure changes abruptly. Good to know there's options though!
may I ask which camera you used for those opening video shots? thx for the good content.

Depends on the video. Recently I've been shooting with the Sony FX3. Love it!
about soft button release, mine stuck completely and i cant loosen it up to replace it, is it safe to unsrew it using rubber glue bcs it so slick

I'm definitely not the right person to ask that question. Best to take it to a camera repair person in your local area. They should be able to give you some advice there...

No more Sony? Samyang 35mm f 1.8 is better than this Fuji lens and even better (sharper) than the Sony 35mm 1.8. How do I know? I sold the X100V.
@karledwards
Жыл бұрын
I haven't shot with Sony for a couple years now... Not sure I agree on the Samyang lens being better than the lens on the X100V though! Especially considering that the Fuji lens is fixed and can't be swapped out! :)
