My FS&S STH-10 + Model L, 2 blasts, Fourth of July soundoff
Ғылым және технология
It finally happened! After years of this siren mostly just sitting in the garage in pieces I finally found the motivation to start working on it about 2 weeks ago to have it ready for the Fourth of July. With the help of my dad and the tools at his work, I had the bearings pressed onto the motor rotor, I reassembled the motor and siren(after a $40 hardware store trip) and we raised it onto the cart and wired it. I got the VFD I had years ago, before I knew how to size them correctly, which probably explains the overcurrent trips before the siren could hit full speed. I’ll have a better solution for next year.
A couple of friends of mine and my uncle were also there, with a friend bringing his ex-TNPP Model L. Both the L and STH were clearly audible across the canyon near our house. I made sure our immediate neighbors knew about it beforehand.
Location of this siren: my garage
Testing time: special events only

The FS STH-10 is really cool Without the Horns on the siren it's cool 😎😊
are you able to see the siren in corbett oregon or does it only go off for fire calls and not tests
what better than getting woken up by a siren
I look so silly during the first run up. Nice video! It was fun getting to see the first run.

I absolutely loved how enthusiastic you were.
That is dope! Cool to see it working now! You gonna set it off for New Years?

Probably not since 12:00AM is a bit late. New Years fireworks aren’t nearly as intense as Fourth of July fireworks are around here.

@samschannel531 well it would make sense since it's ringing in the new year.
Awesome you got the STH10 working! Thought it was rusted out beyond repair?

Had to take it apart and clean it out and change the motor bearings, but it does work! Not really beyond repair as long as the stator windings are fine, which they were. I’ll make sure the thing stays dry so it doesn’t rust up again like it was when I got it.

@@samschannel531 keep it in a garage or something to keep it dry, not outside like how it was when you got it 😂
