My Friend Praying Mantis Has Finally Passed Away. Tears, Goodbye...
Mantis found with amputated forelimbs, 'Tears'
Tears seemed difficult to live in nature, so I decided to bring Tears home.
Although the Tears had only one forelimb, they hunted well, ate well, and were in good health.
But one day...
Tears look weak.
Tears barely finished spawning without bubbles as if their lifespan was over.
And the next day, Tears eventually passed away.
I buried the Tears where I first met them.

Last monday I saw a caterpillar trying to cross the sidewalk I was walking and I managed her to a garden using a piece of paper. I would never EVER do that before. Thank you so much! rest in peace, little guy. at least it lived its final days in your care. you did a great job. my heart almost stopped cuz i thought it was Kiwi. dunno when i have started to care so much about an insect but it happened. it's always fun to watch Kiwi's videos. hope you two spend 2022 together and even later on.

D; i feel the same way, never in my life did i think i'd love insects as much as i do. I'm a mantis keeper as well and this october my beloved Miku, a mantis that looks JUST like kiwi passed away ;-; i cried sooo hard all day long.... i knew it would be hard but not that hard D; it was physically painful too ;-; RIP to Miku & Tears, I hope they're both in a better place having fun hunting bugs together

I had a ghost mantis, a beautyful male, he was so cute and I loved it so much, but he passed away 3 months ago. Mantis are incredible pets, but their life is so short. I know the pain when a pet die. R.I.P. Tears

It is the end of breeding season for many insects such as mantises so many of them die at the end of the year. And mantises usually seem happy and healthy only a day or two before passing away :( At least Tears was able to survive to adulthood and had a good long life like Kiwi.

I also recused a mantis with 1 front limb. She's laid 4 egg sacs so far, just one this past week. I've had her for about 2 months. I hope she will stay with me into the new year. I am sorry that Tears has passed, but you gave the mantis such a great life!
