With that gorgeous voice, Dean never needed to do the "drunk" schtick that became such an integral part of his image later on.

The seals 😂Dean and Jerry were so young here the actresses are beautiful 💖❤ enjoyed this movie 🍿.
Dean martin was a damn good looking man❤
This has some funny lines! Especially by Irma. "Become Mrs. Richard Rhinelander III? What good is that if he has 2 other wives?" Thanks for uploading.
The first film Martin and Lewis were in!! My mom loved this movie cuz it came out in 1947, the year she was born. Miss you mommy!! ❤🥀🕯️ 🥀
🔵DEAN MARTIN IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SINGERS UP THERE WITH THE BEATLES AND FRANK SINATRA. AND IRMA WAS CUTE AND FUNNY.🔴
Until Jerry turned up I didn't recognize Dean. So young!!
Well the comments show that there's no accounting for taste and everybody is different. I love Jerry Lewis I didn't think the movie would be half as good without him. Thank you for posting this there were more My Friend Irma movies supposedly the second one was better than this one.
I remember the tune from childhood! I used to watch the tv show.
Lovable characters 😂 Boy, could they've made great movies back then!!!
Thanks
Love it when the guy tells Seymour “don’t worry, your time will come.” Who would have thought that Jerry Lewis got to be such a big star in his own right? Not my taste in humour (Jim carry emulated him). But, he was a star nonetheless.
Marie Wilson was a precursor to Marilyn Monroe in playing the dumb blonde . She was in essence a mixture of Monroe and old time comic Gracie Allen . She played in co starring roles in movies from the mid 1930s . Her role as Irma is considered her signature role and she was a big radio star in the 1940s . Her career faded in the 1950s with rise of Monroe .

Marie's career also faded because the radio series was cancelled (in 1953), and the TV edition ended as well (in 1954).

@@fromthesidelines You are right on both counts about her signature role , Mr. G . Ms. Wilson still had her innocent , little girl voice when she played in the cartoon Where's Huddles in 1970 just before her death in 1972 .
this was the first movie with Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis?😂😂

*YES!* The virtually stole the spotlight from everyone else in the film. That's why they got top billing in the sequel, "My Friend Irma Goes West" (1950).
Martin and Lewis made their movie debut as comic relief in somebody's else starring movie just like Abbott and Costello did nine years previously .

Jerry originally auditioned for the role of "Al". But Cy Howard and Hal Wallis believed- correctly- that he wasn't right for that part. So Cy created a new character- "Seymour"- especially for him.

I enjoyed this movie
Amo a Dean Martin, excelente pelicula, divertida, ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤,
Once upon a time, there was a popular radio show about two roommates- a sensible working girl named "Jane", and a somewhat "illogical" woman named "Irma"- and how they stayed together.....and dated boyfriends.......and were surrounded by a lot of "offbeat" characters. It became one of CBS' most popular programs.......and in 1949, creator/producer/head writer Cy Howard decided to make a theatrical movie out of it. Of course, not all of the radio cast appeared on screen {Cathy Lewis was replaced by Paramount's Diana Lynn, John Brown by John Lund, and Leif Erickson by Don DeFore}- but Hans Conried DID appear as "Professor Kropotkin", and Gloria Gordon recreated her role of "Mrs. O'Reilly". And then, there was the addition of a comedy team that producer Hal Wallis signed to a Paramount contract in 1948......two guys named Dean and Jerry. They stole the picture from everyone else.

I found that radio show several years ago and began listening again. I enjoy it so much! To think my mother was only a few years old when this aired and I'm the one listening.
Great❤❤❤ Please put movie of Joan Crawford.❤❤❤
I like this flick:)
It was okay. Not a Martin and Lewis fan, but overall, a cute story.
Silly fun.
quite funny
Dean Martin was probably at his best here as a singer. I don't think I can stand watching Jerry Lewis in another movie. Hard to imagine either girl being happy with their chosen husbands in the future.
❤❤❤
This is supposed to be a "comedy classic?" If for no other reason, this is worth watching for the screen debut of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.
Thanks how can I fix it?
Jerry and Dean found great success... I always found Jerry's weird antics " cringe -making", sorry ! 😢🐒😊 But they hit on a partnership that entertained countless people : they were very popular.😊🇺🇲. This film was probably before Dean's nose adjustment ? 🤔😊. His later solo shows were very enjoyable😊🎼 There are lots available here on KZread🙂. Good to see the duo's early work here...📽️😊. 🇬🇧😊🇺🇲🎼📽️🦉🇬🇧
I LOVE IT❤ ❤ Gotta watch this 🍿 🎥🍿🎥 🍿 It had me in STITCHES 😂😂
Thank you for covering the actors credits at the end. Why do people do that... if you going mess up the ending, just stop to the THE END appears, and black it out and put you movie ads.
Jerry Lewis - yick! Bye
Unfortunately the wasn't any sound for his first song.😢

El novio perezoso de Irma, hello joe? Jajajaja, 😊😊😊😊😊😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅
Would have been a better movie if it had centered around Irma instead of Diana Lynn and Dean Martin. And that lazy, slimeball boyfriend of Irma's should have been given the heave-ho long ago. Not as good as I had hoped. Joe S.

"Al" was supposed to be somewhat of a sleazy con artist who often took advantage of Irma {and Jane}. Every time he said "Chicken!", you *knew* he was angling for something. Listen to the radio show [where he was played by John Brown], and you'll see what I mean.
Jerry Lewis also croons
right ....Lewis shout should not have been included
Dean was great.lewis should not have been included, ever.

They were a team- and they worked well together in their early years. Around 1954, when they filmed "Three Ring Circus", their partnership began to fray and unravel. By 1956, they decided to split up after completing "Hollywood or Bust". Jerry refused to see that film for the rest of his life because of all the turmoil involved- he and Dean were barely speaking to each other off-camera- and he also gave director Frank Tashlin a hard time to the point where "Tash" ordered him off the set......and later, Jerry called to apologize- and Frank allowed him to return. "And thanks", Jerry told him. "For what?", Tash wondered. "For maybe saving my life", he admitted.
