@IDGuy If I saw everything correctly with my aging 56 year old eyes, it seems you have taken the exact trajectory as I did a year ago... a Smiths Everest 36mm (I think that's what I am seeing on your wrist during the first part of your video) and then onto the '57 Seamaster Trilogy. Well done sir! Fabulous timepiece that simply crushes anything from Rolex in the Submariner line. Wear it for the duration of your years and always in good health (even though you are clearly wearing it on the incorrect wrist 🤔😉) . ❤️🙏🏼❤️ Your video has gained a devoted Subscriber in me. 👍👍

I agree. I personally think Omega executes their designs way better than Rolex. The Seamaster 300 and the Railmaster are simple but elegant designs and the time can be read by the flick of the wrist. This is something missed by most luxury watch makers. One of my biggest beefs with Rolex is their over branding. They’ve put their name or logo on every flat surface of their watches and they come off as an insecure teenager wanting attention.

Chris Stevenson Very well put, Chris. Love the classic simplicity of the Explorer 1 but that ROLEXROLEX... engraved all around the crown really spoils it for me. Ended up with a Railmaster!

When you really buy with the heart, you go Omega.

When you look at it with brains, Omega seems to be the answer too... Within the industrial brands, they are just as good as it gets, packed with top notch material, high technology, brand history and excelent design language. To me, you really have to take a huge step in prices to get a watch that is objectivly better than an Omega. My Aqua Terra worldtimer is drilled on my wrist since I got it😏

Having followed your channel for about a year now, I can say I really enjoyed the way your deliberation in making this decision punctuated your discussions. It's very satisfying to finally see the pay-off, though no doubt much more so for you. I certainly think you made a great choice, it's overwhelmingly my favourite piece in Omega's lineup.

It's weird how this hobby works, hearing you talk so passionately about a watch I personally would never consider. It seems you def made the right choice, you sound really made up about it!

It is incredible, right? Ah, THE Seamaster has always been in the back of my mind (for well over two years) and it's pretty surreal owning it now... the thought "this is something special" is always on my mind while wearing it. Anyway! Thank you for the comment, brother!

Thanks Charley, I appreciate that. Since I’ve been watching IDGuy he’s mentioned this idea of having one watch, or at least the idea of a “one watch collection”. I simply applied the idea to my first; an everyday, do everything kind of watch. Trying on specific omega, grand seiko, and Rolex models the 58 was the one for so many reasons. It will always be special as it is my first but.....it definitely won’t be my last. Just getting started a Charley😁

@@ID-Guy I think the price isn't even a factor if it's something that you'll cherish, and wear throughout your life. I just bought a Rolex Explorer around the same time you received your Omega Seamaster. So now we can both enjoy our watches. Just think, you're in the midst of a memorable time with what our world is going through, and you'll have your trusty Omega '57 Trilogy by your side. Enjoy, but most importantly stay safe.

Congrats! I own the Spectre version and they're great watches. Omega is a great undervalued brand and I think we'll look back in a decade and wonder why we're so focused on other brands... such good value to be had. Ciao

I have been an Omega fan, and buyer, for over a decade. This one escaped my notice. Today is the first time I have become aware of it. Congratulations on your watch! Now I want one.

You made the right choice. That Omega looks stunning. It’s simple, elegant, stylish & beautiful. Having a symmetrical dial without a date-compilation is best.

Congratulations @IDGuy , this is a wonderful choice! The Omega Seamaster 300 1957 Trilogy is such a great execution of the Seamaster. The case, the dial, the bezel, bracelet, it has it all.

Exactly the same for me Austin. After checking out modern Omega's, Rolex's and Tudors in a series of stores back in late 2017, as I was leaving the building the Seamaster 57 was sitting alone in a display case of some other shop and I couldn't take my eyes off it... The seed must have been planted then, I'm convinced. Strange right? Like the start of a great relationship.

I’d say not just your first watch unboxing, but also your last. This watch is beautiful. This should be your one perfect watch collection. Done!

Ah this was the perfect choice the exact choice I would have gone with if I had chosen an omega. The 39mm size is perfect

I’ve been a fan of your videos for a while now, and so happy to see this! The Seamaster 300 1957 Trilogy was also my first luxury watch and still my favourite. It’s an absolute work of art and so comfortable to wear. It’s subtle but also stunning the way it reflects the light and the dial has such a great classic look to it. Plus it never misses a beat and keeps accurate time to the second! I’ve worn it diving a few times and it inspires memories of early James Bond diving scenes or Jacque Cousteau documentaries. It’s an all time classic and a great choice! I hope you enjoy it for many years.

Tell him that after wearing a fair share of Modern and Vintage Rolex and Omega pieces, this model doesn't disappoint in the slightest. Even the bracelet (which is compared against the Oyster) is equal if not better in comfort (the links are so nicely sized and spaced) The best thing it can say is that it looks quite light and petite, but feels substantial and sturdy in the hand and on the wrist. I "almost" bought the 57' Railmaster one evening, but no screw in crown killed it for me. I should have purchased the sister Seamaster right there.....my favorite Omega of all-time! Just seeing how this diver went through about 8 generations (with different handsets etc) is fascinating! AND I really wanted everyone to get the impression that the Explorer was going to be an outright winner (it was still very much at the back of my mind) but then the thought of "hey, there needs to be more X-Factor and a bit more function" kept nagging (as well as the story linked to my family) Thanks again David

Alvaro, after trying on many Omega's, Rolex's and Tudors (modern and vintage) this model just hits every mark. Size, weight, scale, fit. It's such a classic. If you can find one for a great price, don't hesitate brother!

I congratulate you on your choice a beautiful timepiece! My first luxury watch purchase was an omega seamaster professional chronometer 20 years ago. I was an 18 year old horology obsessive (before it was fashionable) and had saved up for 18 months to achieve my aim. 20 years later and I am still collecting and enjoying this wonderful hobby. I am and always will be a huge fan of the explorer, it is unique and versatile and in the most part only known by those who are informed. But I love your choice. Enjoy and take care, love your work!
