My First Time Riding an Adventure Bike! | Touring Utah on a Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 Special

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

After 11 years of riding only cruiser-style motorcycles, I’m finally fulfilling a childhood dream of riding motorcycles off road, except I’m doing it on a big, heavyweight adventure bike! As a short woman rider (I am 5'4"), these big adventure motorcycles always seemed intimidating…but luckily this bike has what's called adaptive ride height, making it much easier to touch the ground. Join me as I take my first-ever solo motorcycle trip on a Harley-Davidson Pan America Special, and dip my toes into the world of Adventure Touring.
Our first stop is Utah! This state is full of beautiful motorcycle rides and today we’ll be checking out:
- Zion National Park
- Scenic Highway 12
- Meeting up with Amanda Zito from @AstheMagpieFlies
- Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument

I've been riding Harley's for over 20 years (Sportster xl custom 2000 and Dyna Street Bob 2007) and this year I bought a Honda CB500X. It really is like learning to ride all over again. A totally different world. But I like it 😁

@@ridetofood It is a real fun! Compared to enduro bikes, scramblers are very light. But after 3 years on the Scrambler I miss the H-D so I'll have to have two bikes. :) Because dirt rinding and camping is something I love. :)

Enjoyed the last video. It will be great to see how the difference between the honda 500x that "As the Magpie Flys"and the pan america will do riding next to each other. Pan Am definitely more comfortable for miles but the ol Honda is definitely more nimble. Looking forward to seeing more. See you out on the road!!!!!

That Pan America is a sweet bike. Looks much better in person than in pictures or videos. I had a BMW R1200GS for a few years. Trouble was it was not the best two up bike compared to my Road King and my wife enjoys riding with me. Being the practical sort I couldn’t justify the expense of two bikes so I sold the Beemer and kept the Harley.

My bagger sits in the garage now after I got my Africa Twin. I maybe put 50 miles on it this year and the African got 14k it's just so much more practical for the touring I do nowadays. And I can't bring myself to sell the victory off so it sits waiting for one last ride to Niagara falls.

I love UT12. Even though I got caught in a white out hail storm 3 months ago on it. Kiva Coffee on UT12 is a must stop IMO. I love the hogback.. And what is it about Highway 12s? ID12 from Kooskia to Lolo Pass (either direction) is great too. Totally different look and feel from UT12, but still nice. If I find another state 12 some day, I'm gonna have to ride it just to see. BTW, I stayed at that same motel in Boulder back in 2015. I rode Burr Trail the next day. I enjoyed it. 60 miles of pretty easy dirt, but so remote you found yourself wondering every now and then if you were really prepared to handle getting a flat. Valley of the Gods is nice. I could ride that road all day. I was on an F800GS both times I've been to Idaho, so I managed to get a little dirty here and there.
