There's actually a lot of clever sleight of hand going on in omega flowey fight. The fact that you can't see the number for your hp let toby get a way with a lot of trickery there. A lot of this would be pretty obvious if not for the fact that the fight is, by design, too hectic and overwhelming for you to pay close attention to the hp bar. 1: flowey's attacks do progressively less and less damage as your hp goes down. It only takes around 3 hits to go down to what looks like around a quarter health, but you can actually still take 5+ more hits without dying 2: this does _not_ apply to healing, so the closer you are to death the more powerful the healing items are 3: the soul attacks actually can't kill you at all, no matter how much you get hit. 4: i'm 90% sure that your health drops at the same rate no matter how much of it you have, which is obscured by hiding the hp number, and helps keep the difficulty about even regardless of level. there's probably more that i missed, but these tricks do an amazing job of making players within a wide skill range feel like they're just barely hanging on for most of the fight.

Undertale's trailer pitched it as "the friendly RPG where no one has to DIE." That means in the game's best ending, everybody lives! In the meantime, some fun facts! (no major spoilers) : - It is actually harder than you'd think to get killed by Toriel during her battle. - It is impossible to get killed by Papyrus; he will instead "capture you". - Undyne absolutely calls you out if you killed _specific_ monsters (e.g. any/all of the five Dogs). She does not have a reaction for _every_ monster (especially those in the Ruins), but she does have a response for having killed monsters in general. - It's technically possible to get an ending where Alphys says she should have killed you. - It's technically possible to battle Sans, but even he would say you don't want to do that. - During the battle against Asgore, his attacks will only kill you after you're reduced to 1HP. - You only get that one opportunity to actually kill Flowey.

At the phone call at the end, Alphys talks to you about her hatred towards you and how she wishes she had killed you from the beginning. Honestly, i love genuine neutral undertale playthroughs that border on no mercy. Besides a true pacifist not being achievable in your first save file anyways, and neutral being the intended first way to play, the whole point is consequences. When people in chat/comments tell you 'the correct way to play', it takes away much more from the experience.
@alessandrosilvafilho8527
Жыл бұрын
The thing of the "correct way to play" is just an optimal sequence to not have to repeat the game. I think people only have this urge because of how similar the pacifist is to any neutral until the true pacifist part.
@aaravgaur7
Жыл бұрын
Actually, it IS possible to achieve true pacifist on your first save file, you just need to return to the save point before Asgore after defeating Flowey, then, visit Alphys in the true lab. So, you CAN actually do it on your first save file too.
@Sammy_The_Umbreon
Жыл бұрын
@@aaravgaur7I think there's a difference between first playthrough and 1 playthrough. While it is possible, it's like looking up a guide to this game and railroading to the highest degree from fans for a first playthrough of the game. At that point, people dont want to see the actions people take but a reaction video with extra steps. It's possible in 1 playthrough (which i didnt know so thanks) but only experienced players will choose that one
@LuckyBones77
Жыл бұрын
I understand a content creator not wanting to repeat content, but it was genuinely satisfying to a) see someone reacting to things like Undyne melting from Determination without seeing it coming/prior knowledge of how to cause it and b) watch him fuck up a bunch of the same things that I did on my first run lmao
@MirrorHall_Clay

@@Sammy_The_Umbreonnot really. The game is advertised as "the rpg where nobody has to die", so a lot of people on their first playthrough do stick it through to the end doing everything to not kill anyone. True Pacifist isn't really that obtuse.

This was great to watch. The thing the internet spoiled most about Undertale was blind playthroughs. No one goes in blind anymore, especially KZread gamers and streamers. And even if they do, they get the game ruined for them the minute anyone comments or posts in the chat. The backseat driving in this fanbase is insane - people are sentimental towards the characters (for good reason) so they can't stand to see anyone making bad choices. But the whole point of this game is that there ARE so many choices you can make. A player will find out soon enough whether they will regret making those choices - they don't have to be told. Thanks for taking a stab at playing Undertale blind. There really is nothing like encountering it for the first time. Your commentary was hilarious and your exponentially increasing guilt and confusion was funny too.

I love how you address the comments throughout the video 😂 it’s a treat to watch a blind run after so long, I can’t even be that mad about your choices (the only thing I would’ve said if I was there was how to pronounce Papyrus lol)

Watching him regret every choice he made to get that ending is both sad and gratifying. I hope he plays it again and learns how to spare.

Just in case you didn't feel horrible enough, in the ending Papyrus mentions that Alphys also "went on vacation," even though you didn't kill her. This is because the grief of losing Undyne and Mettaton were too much for her.

It's honestly refreshing to see someone play neutral and have no one to backseat game. Seeing your guilt, not finding a way to spare people, was also very interesting
I love how in the start cliff just didn’t realize he could’ve acted and saved everyone
This is probably the most genuine undertale playthrough I have ever seen.
It's really nice to find a playthrough that is truly blind and genuine. I just love how you're questing why there's a mercy option knowing that all of the trailers for Undertale and even the description for the game tells you you don't have to kill anything. The fact you even avoided those really shows the dedication you had to playing this without guidance. It's the best way to experience the game, even if it is incredibly frustrating... And makes you play the game multiple times if you want a better ending xD
This is actually perfect. He made a video on his first time, which happened to be a neutral run. This leaves him room to do a video on both Pacifist and Genocide now. (PLEASE do the other runs two this was an hour and a half well spent)
I love how he was honest about him dying in the Asgore fight while still making it epic.
lmaooo the guit at undyne 🤣🤣 her neutral death made me teary eyed tho hahahaha
No joke, this is the best Undertale playthrough I’ve seen in ages, BECAUSE of all the “mistakes.” The fact that it was entirely done before the fans had a chance to get bossy in chat/comments is fantastic

The funniest part was watching jack pay for his actions, just as the creator intended.
I honestly really enjoyed how you got a neutral run on your first try, the playthrough ends up being more unique that way. It's also refreshing seeing someone not hating Alphys, it probably helped that you felt incredibly guilty about killing her crush XD

@@anoukdevries8144 I'm sure it's not the majority of people that hate Alphys, but I've seen a lot of playthroughs that find her constant interruptions annoying and that sours their view of her character. I myself found them hilarious when I played it, but I can understand their opinions.
It's been forever since I last saw a fresh new reaction to Undertale. You genuinely acted like the curious, naive innocent child that the main character is, and it was interesting to see the choices you made and the regret you felt.
Pacifist: Sparing everyone using a combination of [ACT] and [MERCY] (but you don't get any exp) NEUTRAL: The one u did, where u kill a few and spare a few bottles Genocide: Making sure to kill every single monster in an area including bosses
41:45 "people have trouble with this game?" this one sentence makes me want you to do a genocide playtrough of this game because this came can be hard but only if you want it to be.
I couldn't hold back laughing each time he realised that he's becoming more and more of a monster.
"IS THERE A WAY TO PLAY THIS GAME WHERE YOU DON'T KILL ANYBODY???" One of the funniest lines in this playthrough, when taken in context
I’m not mad with his decisions, I’m mad with how he pronounces names
The fact that you didn't realise that Alphys was giving you the answers and you managed to get the train one right was hilarious
I never played a neutral run like this, so even as a big fan there was some dialogue here I've never actually seen before. I have to admit this video made me cry at least a few times..
Would love to see him go through both true endings.

I'm in the same boat, but I still loved undertale so much. It was difficult at first not to be upset at purple. I felt a little better when he took the chance to spare Pappy Rus, though. It was weirdly fun to watch him finish the neutral run after that. especially when he figured out how much of a role Undyne plays in people's hearts.

Jacks reaction to Toriel was my reaction. When friends informed me it was a mistake, I considered it part of my arc to never kill again, but being informed it was hard to take back I went back and played pure pacifist. Its so nice to see your reaction. So genuine and without anyone yelling at you. This is how the game should be played, not people screaming "RESET!!! PACIFIST!!!"
it genuinely brings me so much joy to find new youtubers who are experiencing this masterpiece for the first time in 2022 like this game is such an experience everyone should play it atleast once. every run for everyone is so differnet and unique
I'm glad you uploaded your entire playthrough in one video, completely negating any way for youtube comments/twitch chat to tell you how to play. The beauty of somebody's first playthrough of Undertale is that unknowing attitude. With that being said I would love for you to play the Pacifist and Genocide routes of Undertale. You will probably have to stream them cuz there are some specific events you NEED to know how to do in order to get the correct ending.
