Formerly the Perfs, wherer I got my first ever win in the U23 category., my first road race since October 2022 takes me to Portsmouth for the Portsdown classic. I make some errors, avoid a crash and (spoiler alert) don't win it.

    I think it's just an experience thing. He gets to see it unfold. Two riders almost come together, opens gap and old mate shoots through, then the two that nearly touched actually come together. Nothing in it as what looks like a push is just that guy protecting his front wheel. Alex has processed it and is already on the brakes and just gets around it. There's actually quite a lot of good reactions with a lot of potential victims missing the carnage.

    Great to see some decent coverage of the domestic scene with the angle you bring. Exactly the sort of thing it needs. Would be amazing to see more ex pros coming back to help the UK scene. (btw it's 40 to be a vet - well done Chris MaC). Major kudos to Seb for saving this race.

    This is one of my all time favourite videos of yours! Beating Chanel's bike review is a tough act to follow - almost impossible to beat - but your enthusiasm for cycling, support of youngsters, passion - all the good stuff - really came out in this. It was great to see some very, very young men getting awards - well done to all involved, organisers and competitors alike

    Enjoy watching your videos. This was one of my favourites. I rode down to watch (annual pilgrimage) and cheer on the VC Venta riders past and present and nice to see some feature in the onboard recording.

    @@uazeyuizadgiezbfhbcSaturday kept trying to get in the break but couldn’t finished 14th in the group with one lad up the road and second race I broke away on my own with 40k to go and 20k to go I was caught by two lads and we road to the finish

    Everything about this race is why I race outdoors on two feet and only indoors on a bike. Racing like that on open roads is… I can’t even choose words that won’t offend

    Nice race! In Canada (Ontario) we have the yellow line rule when there are open roads to traffic. If you cross over that center line you are automatically DQ’d. There were a couple of sketchy moments there with oncoming traffic!

    That was awesome to watch. HR didn't even flinch during the crash despite being directly behind the carnage, mind you I bet you started braking way before No 10 was at 45º, experience is seeing the risk not reacting to the event. More of this please! Come over to Barcelona later in the year and the hill TT, Tibidabo Hill Climb, would love to see you here.

    I do enjoy your channel, never more than when your Dad features. You and he clearly have a wonderful, mutually respectful relationship. My own father was a benchmark ‘racing Dad’ (you’ll know what that means!). 35 years since I retired from racing, I attribute everything I ever achieved to my Father’s input; and everything I didn’t achieve was down to him also. #SurroundYourselfWithPositiveEnergy

    Road racing always scared me. Bmx, Xco, cyclocross are all bike sports I do where I might crash but those crashes don’t involve on coming traffic! It’s just what it is, the onboards look crazy. Nice to see some names on the screen in the peloton

    I will never race again on open roads, it is the same in Denmark where i lived, one race Marshalls didn’t pay attention and a cars crossed the race right in front of us and i hit it at 50kph, luckily no broken bones but seeing a peloton fighting for position with oncoming traffic is crazy to consider safe racing.

    Cross the center line racing here and you get kicked out of the race. Also we race out in the country with little traffic, looks like y'all were racing on a main road and highway!

    The crash at 05:52 and the close pass at 07:05, I just don't have the nerves for a road race. Thank goodness for ITT races when I can do them.

    The rider that went down first in the crash was knocked down by the rider to his right. It looked intentional as the bike on the right angled towards the first rider and as soon as he hit him he straightened out and continued on his way. Was that looked into?

    @@Gabrielle4870 100%. I've been dqd for inadvertently simply TOUCHING the yellow line and there was not even one single car remotely close on coming. This was quite dangerous a few times in this video. I know we can't always have closed roads. But some of this was cringe worthy dangerous

    11:45 that's interesting stuff. So to brake super HARD without crashing that's what I need to do ? I think if i'm a ride there is a car doing something and I want to stop I would fully press both brakes, thats a mistake then ? cheers

    Funny how you’ve got periods on being alone and then in a small pack then alone again then in a pack again. What are you using for your data overlays? It looks like Garmin VIRB Edit but if so I’m amazed it’s still working, Garmin doesn’t even like to admit it ever existed never mind updating it.

    Yep, 80% pressure on the front brake, throw your weight back and 20% pressure on the rear to avoid it locking up
