The English and Swahili combination is known as Sheng. Enjoy your stay.
No hunting in Kenya. That is banned completely. But you can use your camera to shoot images. You won't need an AC in Nairobi anytime of the year. Average temperature is 28 degrees C. Also, the jet lag is compounded by the high altitude. Keep hydrated as your body acclimatizes.

Your winter is our summer time. Your summer is our winter time.
As a Somali who had lived as a boy with my family from 1992 and who had visited Nairobi many, many, many times since I left the city in 1996, the last being in October, 2019. So let me say something about the lack of air conditioners or fans. In Nairobi, a city that was built on high grounds precisely for its cooler nights all year long, it gets very cool at night and does not get humidity all year long, even during its 'hot summer' days from December to April. So folks in Nairobi never need ACs or fans, even top branded international hotels in the city do not have centralized ACs. Also about 'winter' cold weather in June-July-Aug. months, during the day it gets a little bit of hot, stays around lower to mid 20s celsius degrees. Yes, there are days it rains on and off, still it is not relatively that cold. The coldest time is before 10am. I have lived in many cities all over the world, including my current city of Toronto for the last 26 years, Nairobi has the best weather per none. I love its humidity-free cool nights all year long. Here in Toronto, we just have had a week-long 40-degree celsius days with unbearable humidity. My late mother also loved Nairobi's weather, always coming back to live in Nairobi after going to Mogadishu. She is in fact buried in Langata area of Nairobi, near Wilson Airport.

You do not need fan/AC in Nairobi but in the coastal region you need it
'Canadian' also works since the accent is so close. If you go with Brazilian, be ready to have someone start speaking Portugues to you
I'm definitely going to use that "I'm from Brazil" line , the haggling is crazy once anybody knows your American, from my experience in 6 S.A countries 🤔 Genius.

Go with Belize. Most people have no clue about it and they speak English in S. America. Brazil is still considered a rich country coz people know about it and their soccer culture. You might be shocked when a Kenyan busts out in Portuguese or spanish if they hear where you are from.
I don’t know why but I just find it so funny that you’re about to tell people you’re from Brazil so they don’t ask you for money 😂
Despite the chilly weather between June-Aug., Nairobi has the healthiest weather anywhere on this planet!
Went to Kenya and Dubai back in 2018 on a crazy trip. Kenya is criminally underrated. You and a couple other channels were a big reason for me getting back into making videos. Been uploading content way more consistently thanks to y’all!

how did you like Nairobi?
It never gets too hot or cold here so no need for A/C units. Consider getting a hot water bottle for cold days.
Hey Cousin, I have been to Kenya numerous times. I love it. With regard to your sleeping/jetlag issues it might be because of the altitude. Altitude effects different people in different ways. I lived at about 6 thousand feet for 3 years in Bolivia. The altitude never bothered me. Any trips I made to La Paz, Bolivia almost killed me. Its at about 11,000 feet. Just food for thought. Kenya and the Kenyan people and culture are awesome.
Majority of Kenyans speak 3 languages, English, Swahili, and tribe language
Blame it on the global warming for the extreme cold. English plus Kiswahili, it's known as sheng. It's the slang language or street language. Summer is not that hot unless you're visiting the northern part of Kenya. Nairobi is a city, it's expensive. Cops in Africa are extremely corrupt. As long as you disclose that you're from abroad, all they see is a tourist and people try to take advantage of that. Sorry, about that but it's the way it is. On the staple food, try githeri, choma, mutura, and matoke. Also, don't forget to taste Swahili dishes from Kenya. Lastly, greens. Stay safe and happy travels. Karibu Kenya. Tembea Kenya.
Mix of Kiswahili and English has a term here in Kenya. It’s called sheng

lol cop asked you for kitu kidogo. Word of advice next time you go to Kenya don't waste your time in Nairobi. Use it as a hub and then go and see the rest of the country. Plan Safaris with others so it's cheaper. I was born and raised in Kenya and live in Atlanta now. Whenever I visit, I just sleep in Nairobi, and am out the next day to the many luxurious spots that Kenya has to offer. Also you seem to be budget traveling in Nairobi. Some of the spots you are visiting in the city look impoverished and not generally frequented by tourists. Meet up or contact Kenyans in the diaspora, there are so many of us that will gladly advise you where to go and what to do to make your stay more enjoyable.
Good stuff here nice too see another country.

we don't need ACs in Kenya. normal average temperature in Nairobi is 22-24 degrees. But when you go to the coastal city (Mombasa) you will get ACs because it's around 30-35 degrees in temperature

Jet lag gets worse when you get older. In my 20s I could go to Japan or the Netherlands or South Africa and just make it work. In my 30s going back to Japan it was a little harder, and just going from SF to Boston would have me nodding off during the day. Now I'm 40 and went to the UK and I was wrecked for a week. Slept from 11am to 7pm when I got to the hotel, slept again from 3am to 9am, nodding off all the time, and then every night I'd go back to the hotel and think "I'm just going to lie down for a minute" and fall asleep for at least 2 hours.

Bro, in Nairobi you do not need AC. The temperature right now is 62 degrees Fahrenheit. Sometimes it gets up to 72 degrees Fahrenheit and you can always crack the window and let in a breeze. At night it cools to 55 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s the best climate on the planet known as Modified Equitorial. Thanks for the video.
When I went to Guinea, Guinea Bissau, The Gambia and Senegal earlier this year I had to say I was Chinese more than USA because you can get hassled positively. Many West Africans love the Chinese.
Just say you are a kenyan who lives in the US - we leave you alone😂😂😂
Nairobi is always cold, it doesn't matter what season But it gets much colder around July. That's the reason we don't need ac. It's different though in Mombasa, the coastal region which is very hot.
7:02 As a brazilian I don't care, but keep in mind that Brazil is not a unknown country, some people in africa could start a chat with you in portuguese.
Good video, I dig your style, i remember being asked where I was from when I was in Turkey, said are you from France? I said yes, and they they started speaking French to me. 😂 You can always get away with saying you are from Canada because people all over the world pretty much like people from Canada. 😂
The temperatures in Nairobi are quite tolerable, no need of aircon. The power bills here for households are very low. I think it can be made into law for Africans in America to apply for residency/citizenship in Kenya/East Africa/Africa. Even without that specific legislation in place, anyone can go to court and claim ancestry, pretty sure it will go your way.
Is there another way to read your eBooks besides Kindle? I'd like to read the Buenos Aires one
Hey man, are you going to hunt? What's the lowest average temperature it gets? Yo, you did that Brazil accent excellently.
These have been the coldest months ever. In the past, it has not been this cold so it is not a normal occurrence and that's why no one mentioned it. The cold was manageable and not out of the ordinary, but this year's cold is too much even for us locals.

Its called Sheng. For Swahili English
Most Kenyans subconsciously hold conversations in three languages at a time. They weave in and out and they don't notice it until someone else points it out. The languages will be English, Swahili and one of the tribal languages.
The term is sheng = the mixing of English and Swahili.

Yep. Its sheng. We generally dont speak correct Kiswahili unless its in formal occasions. On the streets, we speak a form of slang - the sheng - that is a mixture of Kiswahili and English, and a bot of vernacular languages. And so the sheng can actually be regional coz different tribes have different languages. Even the sheng spoken in different parts of Nairobi can be different, but we generally understand each other coz 95 percent of it is Kiswahili.
@panafrican.nation

There's sheng and then there's swanglish. Swanglish is switching up formal English and Kiswahili language. Sheng is a street/hood language that's based on Kiswahili but incorporates words from our many local tribes
i moved to Australia 14 years ago and the one thing i miss about Nairobi is the weather. The fact i never needed an aircon in summer or a heater in winter, was something we don't fully appreciate until you move to a country like Australia. Here you will suffer if you don't have a heater and aircon to get you through summer and winter. and worse still is your electricity bill will double in those seasons.
I also never say im from the US people act sooo different it's true. In a lot of countries it's cuz they automatically think ur rich
