The lighter parts of the Pillars of Rome are a mixture of lake bottom clay and mud and volcanic ash from local volcanos around 3-5 million years ago. They are preserved by a darker, hardened "cap" of 'welded tuff', created by extremely hot volcanic ash that was still semi-molten when it fell from the sky and 'welded' itself together on the ground. Imagine a 1500 degree rain made up of droplets of molten rock.

That's super cool! Thank you for sharing that knowledge. I was very curious as to how they were formed but couldn't really find anything talking about that
What a gorgeous hidden gem!!!! Those springs look incredibly truck between all the amazing rock formations. And also, damn your bronco was COVERED in thick mud. Sick adventure ending!

Rock in the brake, usually driving backwards briefly will eject it. Pretty typical on some rigs. :)
@OFFTHEGRIND
Жыл бұрын
I actually tried that and it made it worse. I’m thinking it was between the rotor and splash guard rather than the caliper because of that. It ejected eventually though

This is what it’s about. Rock crawling is cool, but the real magic and the reason for these rigs are for true over landing to places you are exploring. Great videos.

Thank you so much so joining and for the support. I am lucky enough to be able to get out pretty often, so my goal is to encourage others to do the same, but if they can't, I want you to be able to live my adventure through my video. That is what I aim for at least.
Amazing Series. I finally was able to get some time to watch all of it and all i can say is, just amazing work. The editing, the shots, the voice overs, everything is just great. You make me want to plan a trip there next and I am about 25 hours away. Keep up the good work my man!

Hahaha I’m still finding it on the bronco!
there are lots of hot springs in Central and Eastern Oregon. One of the many things to enjoy. I also feel it is important to go slow and smell the sage brush. Do not try to cover too many miles each day but enjoy the moment.

Great trip, Hoss. Good idea to always carry tools in the backcountry. Nobody out there to help but you and lonesome. A rescue tow is nearly impossible to arrange and if you find someone it can easily cost $1K. If you are lucky other overlanders might help, but don't bet the ranch on it. Roads in the Owyhee eat vehicles for breakfast.
