My First Full Stall - This Is Why We Have Reserve Parachutes...

Ойын-сауық

Check out our merch! - tuckergott.com/collections/all
It was an eventful day at Wings Over Winter! I did my first full stall/spins, Johnson threw his reserve, Mark and I had some rad shenanigans, and a fellow pilot unfortunately was medevaced. I have since heard that his surgery went well and he is in good spirits! Wishing him a speedy recovery!

Those near-death moments when you save your own bacon and go back out after an own the day are the best. You have convinced me to get a two-seater quad powered paraglider. Accidents happen in any kind of movement activity. Some people fall & break their bones while walking out the front door, usually older people with brittle bones. Sometimes people get struck by falling tree branches. My little sister was killed while she was making a snow angel in our front yard when a car ascending the steep road in front of our house lost traction & slid back down, hopped the curb & hit her head so hard she ended up dying on life support. Its hard for me to write that but its true! Sometimes bad things happen to good people. Its organized Chaos out there! Just try to stay positive, young at heart & have fun while living fully! Cheers & safe flying brothers. Blessings to you, your family, friends & to all your adventures!

Man really practice stalls because whatever goes wrong, stalls most often help you to not throw your reserve and end your flight comfortable. Living in the alps this is a really important skill because you easily get huge collapses here but also for you flying Acro and Freeride wings, you really have to master fullstalls. Also whenever your wing surges forward, always STOP the surge with brake input. Luckily a Mojo ist stable enough to not get a Huge collapse and Cravatte, Twist and whatever might happen because of the collapse but trust me the free ride or general more agile and higher classified wings, they are on a whole other level. Hope you read this and take it in consideration because I really like you to stay safe man! Happy landings!

Ouch! I've broken the same ankle twice and it's no fun. Never had to call an ambulance or helicopter for it before, drove myself to the ER last time. I've never had a compound fracture, but that likely explains the medevac. About the only fun I can think of from my two breaks is explaining to airport security that I've got a half pound of stainless steel in my ankle.

Tucker - The severe stalls and spins in skydiving can be emergency cut away in skydiving at high altitude; a stall is only done just before landing about a foot or two; whereas, a violent spin caused by a "Maywest" (line over canopy) will drop you out of the sky very quickly. The question I have: When you experience a severe stall will the canopy collapse? Also, what are your chances of having a line over the canopy in a severe spin or stall when your trying to recover?

Cool that you're punking about with other flyers including Mark. On my first flight day many years ago, the UK Legendary Mark Dann span his paraglider into the hill above us in Wales. Land and Heli-med were deployed, but the bus took him for x-ray on his injured back in the days before MRI & CT scanning. He got away with that incident and went on to set the UK distance record for paragliding, from a hill near here more popular with fixed wing unpowered flights. Cool that the guy who bust his ankle made a reasonable recovery after surgery.

Bryant Cox I heard of some lady, maybe even from tucker I don’t remember, but she got caught between two storms and got lifted super high and got trapped up high, lander 3 hours later, survived with what I understood was no gear to protect against high altitude temps. I can imagine she might have closed her eyes for a few minutes during that ordeal. Don’t think anyone would want to push it to 10 minutes though. Good way to wake up with a broken spine.

Paramotors are fun, but they will never beat an airplane! Love your vids!

+Pumpkin & Sky Productions I disagree, in regards to fun. I have my ppl and have been fortunate enough to fly a lot of cool airplanes (Stearman, Cub, Super Decathlon, Pac 750, Pilatus pc12, Extra 300) The paramotor is still by far my favorite thing to fly.

Paramotors you actually feel the wind below your wings and in your face. Better than planes.

An airplane is meant for SPEED. A paramotor is meant for the sheer enjoyment of flight. That's why you won't see any paramotors hauling cargo or mail. I guess it's possible that they could be used for short military operations, but like balloons they would be vulnerable to "projectile" weaponry.

That's like saying a motorcycle will never beat a car. (In terms of fun) Nothing like being 100% exposed to the elements.

They are the motorcycles of the sky. I'm hooked, & will be buying one of these as soon as finances allow. Might have to part with my beloved '74 RD350 2-stroke though. We'll see. :)
