my first full sketchbook EVER! | SKETCHBOOK TOUR | 2022 - 2023
Ойын-сауық
I filled an entire sketchbook for the first time in my life! No more drawing on the first couple pages and then leaving the book in a drawer somewhere to rot (tbd). This sketchbook features drawings from February 2022 to September 2023 (and includes a couple pages in the front from 2017 when I had previously abandoned it).

I just wanted to comment because I watch A LOT of these so-called "sketchbook tours", and most times I won't even watch the entire video. However, I am VERY impressed with your ability to draw animals, which is what I am most interested in. I think you are very skilled and don't give yourself enough credit. I have loved almost every page you've done. I will definitely keep an eye out for more of your videos. 😊
There's so much to love in this sketchbook. Loth-cat, Chopper, cheetahs, the hyena with the blue eyes... you're too hard on yourself about the horses, I thought they were just fine. You give the animals so much expression. My animals are animals but they don't have the personality like yours do.
I really loved this sketchbook tour. I'm a color-pop guy and the highlights and colors on this were really aesthetically pleasing for me. It's almost like some of you sketches were coming out of the book to me.👏😌
Sketchbooks are a great place to download and practice. As long as your not using the Pinterest references to claim they are your own concepts and trying to make money off of, they are a good start to practice with. Learn how other artists lay down color, format and learning basic shapes. They help you grown into your own style without the stress of coming up with the perfect concept. Getting the ideas to flow easier.
Ahh! I love all the cat drawings. They're so cute!!
All your creatures are ADORABLE! I’m crazy about cats, and I think you really captured the “catness” of them, but I also enjoyed seeing your quick small bunny and bug sketches. Super cute! They all have such lively expression.
I, for a fact, did not care that you drew a “bad page” ( my sketchbooks contain Those as well)I just found Your Channel and I love the way you draw animals! Keep up te great work 👌🏻❤️
14:50 ahhhhh the cat noise 💕
I've never forgotten how to draw. Its who I am. I've never been afraid to draw either. I just draw. Art is like air, you live it and breathe it.
Your sketchbook is wonderful!!! I love that you have mistakes in it ☺️. Sketchbooks are for trying things out! Oh, and your nephew single-handedly beats Pinterest in the inspiration/art prompt department! A cat on a bullet train?! What?! ❤️
Oh that was very pleasing to look at. I barely draw animals so yeah interesting 🦕
now I really want a toned sketchbook haha, great sketchbook tour

it's a lot of fun because it makes bright/light colors really stand out!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful sketchbook. I love the fact that it is a sketchbook, warts and all, and not an "artbook" like other artists try to pass off as a sketchbook. For me, a sketchbook is a place for exploring ideas and its contents can be somewhat raw, where mistakes are made (and creatively covered up, like yours) - they are spaces to experiment, to try, to make marks and just be you. Once again, thank you for sharing ... not just your sketchbook and your talent, but also your love of cats!
I love that your sketchbook is just that - a sketchbook. There are so many unfinished pieces in there. I'm just getting back into art after a LOOOOONG hiatus (...over 10 years...) and most sketchbook tours I've seen are filled with finished work, which makes me feel anxious that everything in my own must be perfect and made to be a finished piece. Actually showing a sketchbook with mistakes and unfinished drawings is making me feel less anxious about my own. Thank you for that.

I hope you are having fun creating again!!
KZread suggested your 100 cats video to me the other day and I'm so glad it did. I also really started working in gouache this year and ironically do mainly pet portraits with it. So to see your process and results was so enjoyable. I subbed because I really can't wait to see where you go! :)

i started using gouache this year too but haven't done animals with it yet. but might try to paint a cat with it soon.
Hanemuhle and Strathmore do grey and tan toned sketchbooks. I'm sure there are others brands too!
Your voice is calming 🥰
As an animal lover, this is an absolute win ❤. I love your hyena, Ardwolf & Armadillo.

The Hyena was my fave too... soooo cute 😍
From one animal portrait / still life artist to another - this is *exactly* the niche I've been looking for. Happy to be your 150th subscriber, and congratulations on finishing this sketchbook!
I don’t think any of these pages are bad . 😊
I think your art is great and I can definitely see the progression from 4 years earlier. I love the colours you use ✨
I love your art
Your sketchbook is so impressive! You've inspired me to focus more on animals when doodling in my own :) thanks for sharing!
This was such a treat!! Thank you for sharing it, so much lovely spreads, I'm happy you came back to art. And I would love to see you do the 100 heads art challenge.

I love your art style! I do get that if you’re not practicing something that it can be a struggle toget back into it! Just keep doing what you love and challenge yourself! I love cats too❤

so many cat drawings and they're all really great. the spread with cat in red and blue horse might be my fav. really wonderful stuff! keep it up ^_^
Hello fellow artist here! I love this sketchbook tour! Your animals look so good!
Great sketchbook tour! I'm not personally big into doing animal art, but I enjoy seeing it from others. (Also we ended up at Star Wars, so our art interests are not entirely disparate!)
loved it! makes me want to start working on toned paper again but i've never finished a sketchbook on purpose so it makes me a bit intimidated haha. thanks for sharing, it was inspiring and i love your work especially your color choices.

Toned paper is so fun! I just started working in a white paper sketchbook again and it feels kind of strange!
First video I've seen of you and I am in love with that sketchbook. Goodness. What a good vibe you have. My only complaint is that you turned some of the pages a little too fast for me to absorb them fully. ^^

In hindsight, I definitely was rushing a bit! My camera has an arbitrary recording limit of like 28 minutes and for whatever reason I felt like I should do the whole thing in one take so I was racing the clock haha.
so, im back (sketchbook tour vids should be watched multiple times imo. otherwise one can lose details). been thinking about crediting and the concept of reference image/tracing: I've asked all my artist friends, and based on what I've come across different platforms (different SM platforms harbor different digital behaviours), the reality is, you cannot do art without reference images. the physics and mathematics aspects of art (light/shadow, spacial 3D, perspective, geometry, trigonometry, colour theory) make it impossible to create good art without studying them. i know "good" is subjective, but an objective "good" does exist, and to me, and that's utilizing a concept/supply/ethos etc to express whatever was intended to be expressed in the best way possible, under the given circumstances; essentially "do your best and the rest is secondary". limiting one's resources is never a good practice, no matter where, no matter what, no matter the context. always utilize resources, especially if they're regularly expensive or experienced based. and as for crediting, as long as you credit, you're fine, even if others say it's not. there's only a certain level of IP and privacy applied to things one shares on the net, whether we like it or not. operating as if the Internet is controllable is futile and inefficient. ppl will steal, and for an artist that shares online this is a reality that one cannot run from. you have to concede, there's no other way. ps. in biology, 3D spacial geometry is v v v important because it denotes the shape of biologically viable molecules based on how a given bond is created amongst the atoms, based on how they can come together or repel each other. the difference between the IgG molecule for the flu vs the common cold is in the shape of the binding site, where a given antigen (a microbe's native molecule that causes infection) binds the immunogammaglobulin (IgG). Ig(M, G, A, E) are gamma globules (macromolecules) and because of their globular shape, understanding its 3D spacial rendering is a parameter in organic and inorganic chemistry. as an immunobiochemist, it's insane that ppl arbitrarily differentiate between art and science. i would never be able to do art without my science background and without my understanding of drawing and 3D imagining (brain) i wouldn't pass my organic chem classes, nvm the rest of my bio classes.
I've used the Soho brand from Dick Blick recently. I can't say I loved the experience, but I'm going to try to use more paint in the future. I really love you ink work. & the birds! So awesome😊 pls keep at it!
It was so fun to look through your sketchbook! I only have a big "ugly" sketchbook mostly full of pencil/pen, so this is kind of inspiring to me to try a smaller book and to incorporate/play with color more. I also relate so much to your drawing struggles, so I'm really rooting for you, and trying to absorb the lessons you're learning about perfectionism and fear. 🙃

Realizing I was "allowed" to use whatever pencils, crayons, markers, and paints I wanted in this sketchbook helped me loosen up so much, so I definitely recommend giving it a go! Anything that helps you tap into that "I'm just a happy kid coloring on the back of the kid's menu at Denny's" energy and ditch the "art is so serious and I HAVE TO get better at it" brain curse.
Your sketchbook is SO FUN! I love your style and color choices. All the animals are so cute. 😻 I am also doing the 100 heads challenge and it’s taking forever. Now you’ve inspired me to try 100 cats too. 😹 Thanks for showing us and hope to see more from you!

Thank you! 😊 I have been working on the 100 heads challenge for like 6 weeks now haha. 🫠 The folks that actually complete it in 10 days have super powers, I think.
I do NOT care
The sketch book is a pen+gear sketchbook. I have several with the tags still on them. They have different covers. The one I have is pink with gold foil hearts.

I don't know if I could make a helpful tutorial, to be honest! I don't really have a method for drawing them - they look different every time! I find just looking at references and experimenting and practicing a lot to be the best way to learn myself.

@@FevercoatStudio I understand lol, I'll try to study them more often!
I use pinterest for my sketchbook Journaling i wouldn't feel right about doing a big painting from it unless its just practice.
I have literally this exact same sketchbook that I also got at walmart many years ago. Mine's still only like... 1/5? full. Is this my sign to finish it?
