My First Four Years on Etsy as a Hand Embroidery Business | Lessons Learned & How Much I Made

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hey friend & welcome!
I’ve been wanting to make this video for a while now as I just love listening to other artists and makers share about their little businesses as I find them so encouraging and informative. Seeing as how it’s been 4 years since I started Saint Rogers Street, I thought now may be a good time to share as I’ve learned and grown a bit with my etsy shop over the years. & of course in the future I hope to share some more updates :)
In this video I share about how I got started with hand embroidery, a play-by-play of my 4 years on Etsy, lessons I learned along the way, how much money I’ve made from it, and my big dream for this little business at the very end!
Do you have a hand embroidery business, or are you thinking about making one? I’d love to hear about it and what you specialize in down below in the comments!

Your sales are a HUGE deal. This was so encouraging. I can’t thank you enough! I have been so self sabotaging to push my hopes and dreams to make income online with my talents. You are such a blessing! ❤❤❤

Aw I loved this. I love your goals and reasonings at the end too. I’m currently doing the stay at home/selling my art and I couldn’t ask for anything else. (Except maybe more business sense lol) It’s exciting to see my little shop grow alongside the kids. Best of wishes to you❤

Thank you so much for sharing these videos and your journey! It’s so hard to find advice from a craftsmanship perspective vs. a get-rich-quick mentality. I would love to see more of these

Aw thanks for the encouragement :) I love that this business incorporates some of my favorite things- crafting with my hands and looking into & evaluating the business side of things. I hope to make my channel a reflection of both of those things. I have lots of business type videos in the works that I’m looking forward to sharing!

So cool to see your journey and the growth of your business! I feel like one thing that can be really confusing or intimidating to figure out is Etsy Shipping. Do you ship your physical items through Etsy? I think in your formula you added in shipping price- is that because you ship for free? I’m also curious how shipping is for you as a creator in Canada or your thoughts on that! That could be a helpful video. Congrats again and excited to see more

The majority of what’s in my shop is digital items, so I can’t say I have a ton of experience shipping out items, this is honestly something I’m working on this year as I hope to have a number of kits available throughout the year. As far as free shipping goes I just include my shipping price in the product price so that the free shipping tag still appears. Though when it comes to out of country shipping I add a visible shipping price as it’s much more expensive to ship out of country and I need to take that into account. That’s a great idea to make a video about shipping in and from Canada as Canada Post is not small business friendly lol as it is so, so expensive! Great questions and thank you :)

I’m so excited for your journey 🥰 I can relate. Thank you for sharing so much of your experience - it’s really hard to come across down-to-earth advice like yours when it comes to starting an embroidery biz. Would you be able to share a link to the podcast(s) you recommended?

Aw thanks, that’s encouraging to hear :) I don’t have the specific link, but I listened to Lauren Keplinger’s podcast, called Crickets To Cha-Chings, on Spotify!
