One thing I recommend adding to your EDC kit is a strip of the tourniquet you get when you get blood work done. Adds an incredible ability to loosen screwed on things that get really stuck. I had a polarizing filter that I just couldn’t get off the lens. The tourniquet thing made it a breeze. We’ll meet at the Florida Photo & Birding Festival in St. Augustine, FL in April, and I’ll give one to you. Just saw that you’re on the schedule, and that made me happy.

Nice kit! Good stuff. I would throw in a few safety pins, different sizes. Useful for medical needs and to hold torn things together.

EDC is always essential when away from home so a photography EDC makes sense. I like all of your inclusions. As for the paper I suggest waterproof paper. Rite in the Rain has some notebooks. You can always tear out a page like you have done here if it is too big. I would also have a couple of bandaids, they are minimal. One from left field would be tweezers. Take care

Thank you for sharing this! It's helpful to hear what you included and how you can use it!

So from Home Depot I buy the WeatherMax All Weather Notepad. It's small, 5"x3", I tear out pages to fold and keep with me outdoors. You can write in the rain on it when it's wet with one or pencil! It's great to add to an EDC Kit. Thank you for your great ideas of your kit. I'll be getting one of those mini flashlights and Leatherman...

Great kit. I have many of these bits and pieces scattered in camera bag pockets but it’s time to put them in a kit! I would likely use a flat pouch instead of a box. And I would add bandages and Tylenol, as well as some 81mg aspirin. I had a heart attack a year ago and those little aspirins saved me.

Lots of great items, thank you for sharing! I also carry a few band aids, and a tick remover tool in my EDC.

Nice video, interesting subject Emilie. Instead of writing notes you can also add 30 seconds of audio to an image, every Olympus camera model has that. I love the use of the elastic band for panning the camera, I will try that tomorrow 😀

Very fun and useful post! BTW - the Leatherman is no longer available on the B&H site.😮

Very well done on the EDC kit. Can I also suggest adding a safety pin? In the outdoors, anything can happen. I learned from a doctor there are 30 ways to save your life with a safety pin.

Great ideas! I also carry a needle and 2 feet of thread wrapped around a piece of cardboard. Linen thread is really strong. You never know 😊

I am also a photographer, but I never considered a small edc for photography stuff. Great idea. However, I’ve carried a small first aid kit in an Altoids tin for years. So much of what is in there is stuff you include in your edc kit, such as alcohol wipes, tape, rubber bands, but also safety pins, tweezers, tourniquet, gauze, cotton balls, etc. I do have a small pouch edc for tools and stuff, also. EDC is so helpful. Now, I’ll be making one for photography. Thanks for the great ideas.

Also as a nature photographer I would recommend carrying a bit larger flashlight, a pocket knife bigger than your multi tool and something to be able to start a fire if needed.

Nice kit! An elastic band is also useful to wrap around a filter to give some extra grip if having trouble unscrewing it.
