I love the passion Faisal has for these cars. he seems like such a genuine guy, and it's great to know that he is a caretaker of such amazing cars like the F1 and P1 LM.
The F1 shouldn't be at all a car which is intimidating to drive. Keep in mind that Gordon Murray's intent was to make the car resemble the Honda NSX as closely as possible. I think all that pressure is purely from the fact that you're at the wheel of something costing millions upon millions of dollars.
@diazzsama
7 жыл бұрын
No, he didn't make the car to close as nsx. He did mention the nsx was the benchmark, but it didn't mean to be NSX copycat. Why didn't they just collaborate to make a car? at that time McLaren and Honda were partner.
@rastafari8459
7 жыл бұрын
Where did I imply that the F1 was to going to be a copycat NSX? Go look up what it means to consider something a "benchmark". Gordon was mostly inspired by the driving aspect of the NSX, a car which he himself owned. Its driver friendliness was one feature which intrigued him the most. Gordon initially sought after Honda to build the engine for the F1, but Honda were reluctant to get on board. That's what lead towards the partnership with BMW.
@diazzsama
7 жыл бұрын
"resemble as close as possible", okay copycat is exaggerating word. But, no he did not make F1 to resemble as close to nsx as possible.
@rastafari8459
7 жыл бұрын
"As close as possible" doesn't necessarily mean an exact copy. The phrase was used as the two cars were meant to have similar driving characteristics. Believe whatever makes you happy, but the realistic and historical fact that the NSX inspired Gordon to develop the F1 contradicts what you're saying.
@gazman9468
7 жыл бұрын
Interesting that you mention Honda as Gordon Murray approached them first to build a motor for the F1. He only went to BMW after Honda turned him down. Stupid Honda - would have been interesting to see what they could have come up with although the BMW V12 would be hard to beat.
It was nice seeing more of Faisal, hearing him talking about the F1 was most interesting, and he saying he wanted this car since 1995 was very touching. And it goes without saying, it's a delight watching you two petrolheads sharing your passion. Thanks for bringing us along. Your videos always make my day.
What a rare slice of conversation and content. I loved the respectful and yet fully engaged pace and tone of this whole video. As ever, 25 years on, my favorite car defends its title in my own heart of cars with nearly imperceptible and graceful effort. :))) Always appreciate Faisal's passion and articulation, and of course his willingness to share some rarified petrol adventures- a true petrolhead. James, thanks for elevating the entire medium. Only on KZread for JWW content these busy days. Well done. Cheers as always.
Love the way how you explain everything in ease and that's clear for everyone!

What a great video - intriguing discussion. Faisal is so well spoken and I felt involved in the conversation throughout. James, you continue to deliver extensive quality.

Oh well looks like I'm loading up Assetto Corsa (PC sim) and driving the McLaren F1 GTR, it may not be the real thing but it's still a sense of occasion. How is this channel not 500k yet
Loved watching your videos of the F1. Please thank your friend for letting you share the experience.
This is the most amazing thing ever best series of videos on the channel I mean on YT yet
Faisal: "The first time is always scary"
I saw one of the first F1 road cars being driven to a gas station in Woking Surrey and jaw dropped when I used to work for Tag back in the day with the F1 race car in the lobby. Later the company built a Spectre-style underground manufacturing facility also in Woking to pump out the latest McLarens that we all add to our shopping baskets online and blast around the countryside roads at the weekend (in our dreams).
You definitely would make a great top gear presenter James! Awesome video and car! Subs are rocketing for you now! I thought my 250bhp tuned abarth was cool but this car just makes me drool knowing i could never ever have one!

James you were not your normal self, funny to watch. Living your dream James :)
The Gold inlays , and Fuse Box on the side I'm going to love starting her up every time .
When I was a teenager and this car appeared on scene I was saying to myself “if they can make something like THIS nowadays, how much more fabulous will supercars be in a decade or two?” Turned out things didn’t get better. This was the pinnacle of supercars and an era like that won’t come back. Some may be faster but still they have to kneel and kiss the emperor’s golden ring.
This is the best car you will ever review. Cannot ever be repeated. No tuner bullshit, no one.
Very amazing car James, your seat more forward, the guy sitting more behind, very special buttons and pedals Mc Laren F1 and why it is worth millions , thanks for sharing Mr JWW 😲😲😲😲😎😎😎😛😜😂😛😜😂😜😛😜😂
Absolutely amazing...a KZreadr...this content...can't believe it
so jealous James. Life goals done properly. Keep it coming
The previous videos didn't quite capture the significance of the F1 for me, however, this video completely changed my thoughts about the car! It's brilliant! Great video James!
Look people, Two times it was crashed and rebuilt both the time and still sold for couple million dollars. haha...I pity those who buy Mclaren, F12TDF and etc call them a solid investment. Such an amazing car with an amazing review from James and Faisal (y)
First few seconds and I get the feeling this is the best video ever! :D
This was awesome!! I was nervous for you. lol.
I have had the fortune of seeing three of these in person up close and it is just a pure masterpiece. Easily the greatest car ever made and the story behind it is simply mindblowing and will never be replicated. Photos and videos do not do this justice. Seeing this car up close in person will bring you to tears if you truly understand and appreciate what you are experiencing. Watching these series of videos is bringing back a lot of good memories with this car. There is not a place in the world where this car is commonplace. Not Monaco or Dubai. Seeing this car is a privilege. I enjoy watching this channel because our lifestyles are very similar and i've been fortunate to have been in so many of these amazing cars. I will also say that the CGT and F40 are truly amazing but fall short of this.
Best vid yet. Awesome

u r correct this is not a car this is a sculpture piece of art and history ....on wheels ....and the value can't go down unless it's destroyed ............what's stupid is buying expensive cars and flushing down the toilet more than 30 % of what it costs in the first 1-2 years of owning it

Two very cool guys in this F1. Thanks for all the F1 content, it's my favorite car of all time! Also, Faisal needs an F1 LM or F1 GTR... He seems like someone who truly appreciates everything the F1 represents. Also, I'd be hard-pressed not to repaint my F1 into something like Genesis Blue or some crazy MSO purplish blue, but props for keeping the original color - it truly keeps this great car as a time capsule.

Finally, the car gets pushed and we get to hear it. The last few hypermiling videos have been beyond teasing, they've been agonising.
This whole series, man, too insane. The chance this happened is way rarer than winning the lottery
the rev matches in the beginning seemed on point. that's impressive, considering that's not easy to do well when you're driving a car for the first time.
0:41 imagine looking on your windshield and seeing one of the greatest cars ever made behind you
That was delightful to see you driving it, I found it interesting as you pulled away the lack of throttle as all the racing cars I have driven you need a lot of throttle to pull away but then they were not like this car! LOL My only complaint is that was toooooo short :( So I will have to watch it again and again etc
I see the long tail gulf one when I was on the shop floor at MTC but just to many people around to try take a picture was just amazing seeing it so close your so lucky to drive one
Swallow that thesaurus James! Well done on a great video that goes some way to conveying what it must feel like to be in control of a motoring "Mona Lisa" !
*As you know i prefer a travel in the XJ220 but , this is also outstanding! keep up with this good stuff material, god bless you James*
top top video as always and to feature such a car, WOW
This car for me just takes the definition of a 'car' to a different level. it's so different from what im used to that it's exclusivity and coolfactor just fly through the roof! loved the video as always James.
