I'm Jason, a full-time British Travel Vlogger and KZreadr who's been to 55 countries. I've been travelling around the world full-time since 2017. So far, my trips have taken me to Asia, Africa, Europe, the Middle East and the Americas.
I have travel series' from many of the world's best (and least) known destinations. I filmed the first vlogs on my channel in the summer of 2016 after spending a year living in China. A proper solo trip around Eastern Europe followed after graduating from University in the summer of 2017, taking me to Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, North Macedonia and Kosovo. This trip marked the start of my efforts to make a KZread full-time job.
After that European trip I went heavily into exploring Asia, visiting India, Bangladesh, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Pakistan, the Philippines, South Korea and Kazakhstan (seeing me cover a lot of Far East and Southeast Asia in particular).
I have also travelled to North Africa and the Middle East fairly extensively over the last five years, filming videos in Turkey, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Iraq, Jordan, Israel and Palestine.
To date, I have not yet been to Australasia or South America. Though I am hoping to visit the latter sometime in 2022, along with a first stop in the Caribbean.
I've travelled to North America just once as a KZreadr, visiting Mexico in 2021. Though I have been to both the USA and Canada, this was as a child on family holidays.
So far in 2022, I've taken my first trip to Sub Saharan Africa, visiting both Kenya and Tanzania, before heading to the Middle East, stopping in Dubai and Lebanon. Europe followed, covering both the Greek and Turkish sides of Cyprus, and afterwards going back to Italy for the second time to cover Milan and Sicily. I'm now in the Caribbean for the first time, covering the Dominican Republic.

I've just been to the Dominican Republic for the first time a couple of months ago. We stayed in Punta Cana for a few days at a resort. It was okay, but it could be anywhere else in the world with a nice beach. The highlight of our trip, however, was the couple of days we spent at Zona Colonial in Santo Domingo. Great restaurants, a lot of history, very lively street life. Dominican culture is very complex, and people were generally very nice. We enjoyed local coffee, rum, and chocolate, visited art galleries and historical sites. Dominicans are always dancing for no apparent reason - at corner shops, during work, just casually walking down the street. I'll be looking forward to your new videos, Jason, and hope I can visit the DR again some time in the future.

Dominicans has a very mixed culture due to the colonization, very friendly and open people. Thanks God you won't spend your whole time only in Punta Cana, which I think is nice but DR has a lot better to offer like Las Terrenas. Is not populate with big resorts, malls, etc... it's more natural and relaxing, you'll find over there a real European spot in the DR, lots French, Italians and more, try to stay in some villa beachfront, In Las Ballenas for example, take care!
@gabrielflorentino6080

yes we are very mixed. in DR you would find people of all race and color including blue eyes and even black people with straight hair. like 97% of worlds population don’t mix there race. But we dominicans do it constantly. in my case my dad is white and my mom is black.

Very nice Jason! I love the Dominican Republic and spend a week or two there each year. Your travel plan mirrors my own, except I don't go to Punta Cana, ever, and for the very reason you said. You will absolutely love Las Terranas. The beaches there are spectacular! It has become a bit too European although not too touristy, especially French, but, the vibe is right on and the food is really good. I enjoyed your video and look forward to seeing the rest of your journey.

A particularly fond memory of mine is sitting at a table at an outside café at La Plaza de España at night and drinking an El Presidente beer whilst the floodlights from El Faro across the river shone a cross on the clouds in the sky. I do not know if the lights are still broadcast from El Faro, but it was a magical experience at the time. Dominicans told me that El Presidente was brewed to be best served chilled to suit the warm, humid Dominican climate. Also, be sure to try the Dominican Brugal and Barceló rums, especially the aged varieties, and the Dominican Coca-Cola that is made with real cane sugar. Santo Domingo has so many wonderful places to see and visit, and there are excellent restaurants and clubs. In the latter, one can see just how skilled many of the local men and women are at dancing salsa and merengue. In addition to El Alcázar de Colón and La Fortaleza Ozama, there are other historical sites such as El Museo de las Casas Reales, as well as a museum--cannot recall the name--where one can learn about the Taino Indians and see skeletons of the megaterios that roamed Hispaniola before the aforementioned Tainos killed and ate them all. For a bit of nature, one can explore The National Botanical Garden and The National Zoological Park that are first-rate and terrific. As far as getting around, Santo Domingo has a metro now that makes travelling around the city quite easy and convenient.
Very scenic fort and beach

I have spent time in Cuba and the southeast area of the Caribbean, sailing the Grenedines. One other island I would like to visit is Dominica, which is about 1000 km from where you are. It is called the Nature Island of the Caribbean because it is known for its unspoiled, natural beauty. Hello, from the Dominican Republic, one of the best and most beautiful places on earth!!-*!-
People happy!!
Hello, Jason, you made a great video. Two brief notes though: The Cathedral you visited is not the oldest church in the Americas, it's actually the first and oldest cathedral since there were many other churches built before and after. Also, Santo Domingo is not the oldest city in the Americas but, having been established in 1496, it is the oldest "continually inhabited European settlement in the Americas". There was another settlement before on the northern coast of our island but it was abandoned circa 1493. Keep the great work!

Ok. So basically where you got the beer is a colmadón: they're all set up for people to drink, play, watch the game, dance; the colmado normally doesn't has all the amenities, and is more centered on selling goods for day-to-day cooking and stuff, although most people gather to play dominoes at most of them (normally people take the sidewalk and half the street for it, as you've seen) nevertheless, there's a fine line between them, as the first developed from the latter, you can find both drink and food at any

If you want to show the high and lows of Santo Domingo , i really recommend Piantini for the more upper class and Capotillo would be the poorest side ( obviously more dangerous to go there ). For Capotillo i recommend you ride the cable cars from the metro. The metro alone can also be a way to see a lot of the city from above.
