    What a great KZread! I think leaving your job has been a release for you, you look & sound happier. You’re right, it opens up so many possibilities for you, how exciting! I love the colours you’re choosing for your knits. I may have missed the episode but could you discuss your colour palette further? Have fun in Lithuania. Good luck in your new career. I do have some suggestions for new content. Could you Vlog your yarn shop travels? It would be great to get honest feedback on whether shops are worth a visit. Travel time is precious, and knowing whether to make the journey to visit a shop is always valuable. I also think, given your background, pattern round up videos would be great. It could go one step further and include yarn suggestions and even colour choices. 😊

    Definitely will vlog my travels! Sicily doesn’t have much in the way of yarn shops but Lithuania definitely does so I’ll be recording there. Any specific patterns/categories you want for round ups? Someone suggested summer tops for beginners, I already have a dress/skirt one planned and I was thinking of doing one for men’s sweaters. Let me know what else you’re interested in!

    Continental purling: try doing it with your index finger not extended, I always found that to be very unnatural and putting more strain on the hand. Instead, move the index finger down to wrap the needle while kind of scooping the yarn with the needle and right hand. Hopefully that made sense! I also found the continental purl super hard to pick up and I actually intentionally did a twisted one when I was first learning since it was a bit easier somehow

    On the miledes dress I have a suggestion with the straps. I would block the straps, and pull them as long as you can and let them dry, then adjust the length from there. I had to do that with camisole tops I have knit. You could also add elastic thread through the straps to stabilize them. Love your progress so far ❤

    Your houndstooth colourwork looks great. My first colourwork project was a 3 colour houndstooth vest for my husband. I hadn’t even knit a garment and years later when putting it in the Goodwill box, I was surprised at how well I did. Of course he never wore it. He knows enough now to call himself not knit-worthy😂

    Another awesome video! I love to hear your insights about yarn and patterns. I was considering the Sonya shirt and it was great to hear more details. I was considering tynn line but it looks like I might need to go with a yarn with at least a partial wool content. Do you agree? Also so glad that you have found connections through this channel and very best of luck as you begin this new season of life! Please share video from Sicily! :) Also! that color of your Sonya shirt is just perfect on you!!

  • @Goodknits_

    @Goodknits_

    2 ай бұрын

    You will love the SONYA if you knit it! I think the Tynn Line could work in this case as it has a nice drape. You just definitely want a yarn that will show off all the pretty details and drape nicely. I think having some wool could be helpful for that but not necessary if you prefer a summer friendly yarn if you are in a hot climate. Definitely plan to share some content from Sicily! Likely will film more vlog style video from there

    just flying in here to help with the pronunciation! ppoppo is a korean phrase connected to kisses/smooches, pronounced ignoring the double P and a short "o" => popo. the name of the designer is roughly pronounced: "egg-yo" (try pronouncing egg-yoghurt, and ditch the -ghurt.) hope this helps!

    So truthfully Amsterdam isn’t really known for having amazing yarn shops outside of Stephen & Penelope. There are really only 3 main ones which also include De Afstap and Hooks & Yarn. They all have good selections but quite small with S&P being the largest and most interesting. I think outside of Amsterdam there are a lot of good shops but I tend to buy from them online.

    Your hounds tooth skirt looks amazing for your first colour work project. If both the front and back are the same, why wouldn't it be written in the round? I'm an English knitter as well, but can do continental as I also crochet. However, I tried Norwegian purling and it's hard on the right wrist. There is another method that is really easy (don't know what its called), the only issue is that the stitch is twisted, but it's easy to just knit or purl in the back loop when you are knitting it. Congratulations on your lay off...LOL. I don't know how old you are, but change is always good!

  • @Goodknits_

    @Goodknits_

    3 ай бұрын

    It has solid colour side panels so I think that’s why it’s not in the round as I imagine the colourwork would be more difficult. But designer would know best 🤗 Someone else told me about they method of purling you mention (also without a name to it) so I’ll see if I can find it
