MY FIRST C172 LANDING IN 6 MONTHS (too high & long)
I head over to Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport (MYF) in San Diego to fly a Cessna 172 in the traffic pattern for the first time in 6 months. Here is short clip of my first landing.

Better high than low!
"Any landing you can walk away from is a good landing." -War Thunder Tips
I can hear my CFI screaming - "Slip! Slip! Slip!" And muttering under his breath, "This poor plane, such abuse..."
Remember these side effects. A narrow runway gives the illusion that you’re higher and a wide runway gives the illusion that you’re lower. So technically you were just a little bit high but hey a good landing is one where you crashed the plane but can still walk away and a great landing is where you can walk away and use the plane again.
It doesn't need to be a great landing, it needs to be a safe landing.
Dude ya got it on the ground AND the aircraft is still flyable. So mission accomplished.
Shit was pretty smooth for coming in high
Not gonna lie. It took me a second to realize the first few seconds were sped up. I srsly thought you were coming at that runway over 100 knots haha
Well at lest you didn’t ground loop!
After 6 months of not flying a go around would have been a very positive reinforcement for having a stabilized approach every time.
After 67 years. The Cesena 172 is still standing. Truly a legend
As long as you walk away from it you're good!
Montgomery has some of the best controllers around
The 172s are so forgiving!
My teacher used to say "Every landing you are still alive is a good landing"
Hell yeah, that was a fine landing
Always practice the go around. Makes you strive for the perfect stabilized approach in all conditions.
The touchdown itself was absolute grease, so good job. Also it was a safe landing (and on the centerline)
You should have seen my first landing in a Cessna 150 after 30 years of not flying. Compared to that, you nailed it!
Thank you for sharing this content. Excellent.
