I had a 1/3rd life crisis when I turned 30 in 2020, specially since it was the middle of lockdown/pandemic. Good thing is that it made me get serious with my finances have done some good improvement. Happy bday and hope you are able to achieve your goals!

I’m turning the BIG 40 in 2023, my main goal is to buy a home for me and my daughter on/before my birthday 🤗. I live in super expensive NYC so I’m going to need all the luck in the world to make it happen 😂 but I’m still trying 🙏🏾

This is probably one of the most difficult things for me. I’m 23 trying to figure out how money is supposed to look. I never got taught anything about finances except the literal basic “you should be saving your money” from my parents. I don’t feel like I have any clue on how to set good personal finance goals cuz there’s so much I don’t know

I grew up in an upper middle class family, and I have a home (dad paid for down payment), a net worth of $150k, I have maxed out 401k accounts in 2021 and will in 2022, at will invest at least $3000 in Roth IRA, debt-free (full-ride to college), and $12k in emergency savings at 25 y.o. I’m getting my MBA and my job pays for 80% of it, but I might take out private loans for the other 20% as my job gives me $1200 towards student loans each year ($100/mo) up to a lifetime of $10k. I am very lucky to be in this financial situation but I really need to learn how to budget so that I can put $6000k into my IRA this year. I want to make improvements on my home and that’s expensive! I regret buying a house.

My networth is so high A) my dad paid for my down payment of 20% which counts and B) each of my internships, I was able to put 50% of my pay into my 401k, and C) working in highschool in college, I was able to put a bit of money into an IRA too

Something to consider from a male perspective. If you move into your partners house, and aren’t married I wouldn’t want them to contribute to the mortgage at all. If you do throw him money for mortgage every month and then for some reason a year later yall break up there’s a huge chance of fighting about how much equity each person has and it would be a nightmare

Just depends on the relationship! I'm fine with sending money to cover a portion of the mortgage. If something were to happen, I don't expect any equity from the actual house because it's not in my name. I don't pay for larger house expenses/repairs
