Wow... Didn't know there was such kind of material about vampires... Quite impressive! Can say i'm a fan of the theme - although i like the figure of the vampire popularized by Bram Stoker - but some of the materials you brought, seems pretty interesting.

I highly recommend the anime The Case Study of Vanitas. It's not particularly dark or gory, but it has its darker moments for sure. The characters are great and really likeable, there's a lot of excellent humour and charm and the premise is very interesting. I absolutely loved it. Then there's Hellsing Ultimate (anime or manga), which at first seems populated by smiley psychos and made just for violence and gore. As it develops though it really becomes something great and fun to watch, even very emotionally powerful at times. Most importantly, and this will sound crazy but I stand by it, I genuinely think the character of Alucard becomes the best incarnation of Dracula (or any vampire) I've seen - yes, even more so than Stoker's Dracula. Besides the slow reveal of his deeper character aspects, it's the interpretation of what it means to be a vampire and just what Alucard is capable of that I really love. He's basically the ultimate version of Dracula, taken to its pseudo-logical conclusion. Also, women in particular seem to love Alucard, so there's that XD. I don't know what you'd think of the series overall, but it's definitely worth a watch (or read). That said, and at the risk of sounding like a broken record, it's a sin to watch anything before Made in Abyss, whose magnificent second season has just this week finished airing and once again the studio behind it absolutely nailed the adaptation. I know, I'm such a pest, but I love it so much and the storytelling is just so unbelievably brilliant ;)

Thank you for your recs! Funnily enough I have read the first volume of Hellsing years ago when I did my challenge of reading the 10 most bizarre manga ever written but somehow I wasn't hooked to it so I let it go- yet so many people love it that it might be worth keep going (maybe the Anime? I'll get around to it!) Yes I need to check the anime you recommended a few weeks ago! To be honest I have mostly read and not watched too much as of late- or I might watch stuff while doing something else but I cannot do it with anime as I need to focus and read the subtitles but I will get around to it sooner or later 🤗

@@theinkedreader7722 Hellsing is one of the very few anime I watched with the dub and thought they did a good job with it (but generally I vastly prefer the original Japanese voice cast). So it might be worth checking out the dubbed version if it's more convenient. Just remember it's Hellsing Ultimate you want and not the original Hellsing, which isn't considered as good an adaptation. But yes, you say you struggled with the manga and I struggled with the first episode - I really didn't like much about it, but it grew on me more and more with each episode and by the end I loved it. Will definitely get the manga someday. Definitely worth watching some anime even if you need to use less-than official sites if they're hard to find. In the case of Made in Abyss I recommend going to the nearest HMV and stealing it if you have to! No wait, don't do that because it's creator and the anime studio deserve every ounce of support it gets. Instead buy it and insist on paying twice as much for it! If for some unthinkable reason you don't love it I'll refund you because that's how much I stand by Made in Abyss :D Hope you're not feeling too much of a physical wreck today. The next day after a workout is always the worst XD

@@discipleofthecapedbaldy962 that's brave, to propose a refund if I don't like it- I don't think I would be that convinced about anything to ever propose that (apart maybe Berserk!)😄. That is useful to know that I need to watch the Hellsing Ultimate and not the normal one cause I believe on Netflix I had found just the normal anime adaptation! Back is back to normal, thank you for asking, from now on I will listen more to my body when it screams "DON'T YOU DARE!"

@@theinkedreader7722 Yeah I'd say Berserk is the only other story I'd have the confidence to say that about. Hm, maybe Girls' Last Tour too, just because it's such a sweet and precious little masterpiece, but I could see where some readers, especially less mature ones, wouldn't find it "exciting" enough. Personally I think you'd love that too, but one step at a time 😄

To be fair, recently i've read Blindsight by Peter Watts. It's not entirely written around vampires, but they are one of the central themes in the book. It was a very interesting pick on how write vampires in a sci-fi story.
