i am SO HAPPY to hear Fear and Hunger get the love it deserves. its a brutal and unforgiving game, enough to turn most off, but god damn theres just nothing else like it. I always felt so rewarded when i learned how to overcome each enemy, but at the same time I was terrified because i *knew* the game was only gonna throw something even more unfair and horrifying at me. i could go on and on about the beautiful dark fantasy setting and its worlds rules, the boss battles, the cities and time shenanigans, or just the fucking *crow mauler or skin granny* but id be here all night. game is a masterpiece and i encourage anyone with the stomach for dark themes and unforgiving gameplay to give it a go

The characters in Edgerunners were facing their mortality towards the end while for Adam Smasher, it was just another Tuesday for him.
As soon as I saw this video I checked out "All my friends hate me" and it shocked me how relatable it was as someone who both likes thriller/horrors and deals with anxiety, really cool choice imo. The ending was brilliant and I loved how it left it up to the viewer to question whether if any of the movie actually happened, or if the main character's anxiety blew the events out of proportion in his head and so that's how he feels it did. It actually caught me off guard how authentic it was with its messaging about the importance of sensitivity, but also on how to take things less seriously sometimes and live with balance
Oh shit Skinamarink???? Lets gooooo! My friend convinced me to watch this movie and dude, it is an exercise in thick, oozing TENSION. It’s really unique and I have to at least applaud the huge risk the movie takes by having all its shots be *like that*. In my opinion, it makes the movie a puzzle: It’s actively refusing to let you in on its secrets and won’t you let have closure. I kind of adore it

Looked it up on imdb, for those oh so funny...reviews where people didnt get the movie and 1/10 it or had no business watching cause they dislike scary slow builds and only like happy movies and watched anyway...quit in 10 minutes then reviewed. Turns out, the reviews are so even, like all the spectrum 1-10 for the most part. Never saw that. Most of the time it's hovering around 7 or 6, 8 if popular and well liked, rarely 9 or 10 cause movies that high get alot of 1/10 cause everyone goes to watch it for hype and most of the time it's not for everyone. But this is really all of the numbers...a crap shoot if you will like it love it hate it etc.

This is over a year later but yeah, my favorite horror film is also Skinamarink. The beat by beat unnerves me, someone out there has tapped into the slow horror of my past and current nightmares, but what scares me more is the energy and premise itself. Skinamarink whispers the chaos of my childhood hasn't been given proper closure, that somewhere, the nightmares have latched onto something in the furthest part of my soul, something as simple as a childhood toy phone. That the passage of time has let those feelings grow, fester, rot, and spread to the point that when I turn the lights off seeing what made a noise in that corner, I'm uncertain if I'm just looking at a toy phone anymore.
Damn you for having recommended Skinamarink to me. I have avoided horror movies since I was little but felt that I wanted to experience the genre. So i put it on my phone in the middle of the night. I have not felt such fear in a long time, clencing my teath to confront the scares. And poor Kevin. . . I'm crying in shock and relife now that it is over.
Love the Tomie christmass sweater
Two videos in a week? John… are you okay?! Thanks for all the content helping make it an even more wonderful time of the year my man, you rock
Wow, I had just watched an old video on my watch later about how ppl should watch disturbing movies and the whole thing was presented so well and didn’t miss at all I just had to check this channel out for similar stuff. I didn’t rlly see the creepy stuff but so I jus clicked on this recent one. About halfway through I realize this is kinda like a gigantic ad but one that I can agree with like every choice. Everything was good so far. Before the video even ended I realize this channel is literally the most perfect thing for me. It simply just shows me more of the things in the world that I haven’t explored in media. I was just feeling like I’ve seen everything and I’ve had no interest in even the shit I like to do anymore but then there’s this channel lol literally everything listed in the video was something I wanted to invest time in. I think this channel just saved me from what I thought was gonna be my life’s uhh eternal cliffhanger. Thanks for giving me something.
Dude, I love your content in a way that is hard to explain to other people. This video was great for me while I was taking a break from studying Japanese. I look forward to seeing what you bring in the coming year, I hope you have a wonderful holiday! PS. For anyone trying to watch “the sadness“ the movie is actually a Taiwanese, body horror, film, and not a film from Korea. Just wanted to make it a little easier for people to find, happy holidays, everyone
Yes! Skinamarink! I'm not a horror movie person AT ALL and I totally understand people not liking it or thinking it's "artsy-fartsy" without a purpose, but I thought it was so admirable. The final shot with [the thing in the darkness with the words] was FANTASTIC after my friend and I had spent the entire time quietly helping each other understand was the symbolism was getting at.
It’s been 2 days since I’ve watched this video and I can’t stop thinking about skinamarink I’m usually a wimp when it comes to horror so I don’t typically indulge in the genre too often but the fact that this movie scared a fully grown man who is desensitized to horror is incredibly intriguing to me. It almost makes me want to watch the movie just so that I can find out what about it is so terrifying. However I don’t want to traumatize myself so if someone is seeing this, and they’ve watched the movie can you please tell me what happens? The curiosity is genuinely eating me up inside.

Spoilers for anyone reading this obviously and know this entire film is shot in like off angles where we only ever see the childrens legs and feet or weird angles of the house. The kids are trapped in their house as furniture and things they know start slowly dissapearing. After a while a voice calls to the sister to come upstairs to her parents room. She sees her parents who have been missing this entire time and its incredibly unsettlling as they tell her something is in the house and to look under the bed. Its genuinely one of the most unsettling things ive seen as the camera slowly lowers to look under as its revealed nothing is there. Her mom tells her to close her eyes and leave the room but the voice tells her to stay. She listens to her mom and it cuts away as we hear her scream in panic being punished for not listening to the voice. We then follow the little brother as its revealed a demon has taken over their home and finds joy in torturing them. He makes the kid fall asleep and stab out his own eye to show the power he has. After a bit he lets the phone lines go through so the little boy can call 911 and have a brief glimmer of home before taking it away again. The demon then plays with the child for 384 days straight of torturing him. We see blood splatter from around a corner again and again as the 5 year old boy is brought to life just to be killed again and again for eternity

Agreed, the first half of the game gripped me more than any jrpg in recent memory, but the back half had me completely check out. The premise, characters, and world all have a crazy amount of potential that I feel is unfortunately not capitalized on. It feels like a bunch of threads (Child soldiers, forever-war induced xenophobia, antagonists, and some topics/character stuff that fall into spoilers) aren't really followed through on in a meaningful way and instead the focus shifts to an unearned romance and banal "stagnation/fear of the future/nihilism is bad!" message.
