I have, what is essentially, a portable worksite table saw, however, I'm going to make a better stand for it to make it more permanent, and I'm putting a lot of thought into creating a decent fence for it!! Watching this video has given me some good ideas, thanks!!

Hi Matt, I appreciated this video. I had originally mounted the Jessem guide rails direct to my fence which made it way too heavy and got in the way of other accessories like my tenon jig! This is a great solution. I have a Powermatic cabinet saw so the dimensions are a bit tighter, but it all works. One suggestion, if you put the 'hanger hole' at the 'user' end, it doesn't interfere with the motion of the fence lock lever. That just may be on my saw, but it made sense and worked great. Thanks again. Jeff

That thing is pretty slick! It won't fit my jobsite saw but it's definitely in the back of my mind for a dream shop scenario!

I have this on my table saw as well, very useful but I usually break a sheet down to smaller sizes with my track saw . So much simpler to me. Great video Matt , good info

Your approach makes sense to me. I’m glad he pointed out the problem with using a push stick, etc. with these guides. I saw another presenter neglect to mention that and I was looking at it wondering “How do I use a push stick now?”

I wish I had thought of this. I attached the guide rail directly to my fence and just untighten the bolts and slide off the two roller units. It doesn't take much time but this looks a bit easier to use, keeps the rollers together, and won't wear out any bolts over time. 👍

I mounted this to my Bosch jobsite tablesaw game changer. Love it.

This setup looks awesome! Don't know if I'll be able to swing the cost from my own pocket. Kinda pricey for me for but very tempting even if I'm just an employee. Love our saw stop. Work in a cabinet shop and rip down 3,4,4.5" melamine and maple/birch plywood strips for toe kick and stretchers. Used my KZread degree to hunt down some of the best videos on woodworking shops. This one and the 99% of beginners video have been added to the playlist. Thanks.

I had a gallon of mineral oil top get busted. I lost half of the gallon on my floor so understand this situation. But I will be definitely using this upgrade on my saw soon.

I find 2 of microjig’s push blocks gets the job done just as well and it works for big and small stock.

I just purchased these through your affiliate link, and the mag switches,they are going to arrive today, gonna make the jig so I can cut the live edge off of 8/4, 10’ red oak, thank you for the info, and free jig plans.

You’re right on target. I’ve used them for years on my vintage, riving-knife-less, splitter-less 10” Craftsman table saw (which I bought new!). They were the second upgrade. The first upgrade was to buy and install a real fence. (BTW the saw did have a splitter, but it was a huge safety hazard because it would never stay in line with the blade).

For my Delta 36-725T2 table saw: I made a jig for the fence and mounted the Jessem guides on it but to allow the 2 Magswitches to contact the metal on the top of the fence I had cut a small amount off the track plate ends. This allowed the magnets to sit on the metal and do their job but I didn't have enough space, width or length to screw the magswitches to the jig. They still work fine because the magnets are so strong but because of the slight difference between the magnets length/height and the 3/4" stock I used for the jig, the stock guides can move vertically about 1/16". I fixed that problem with placing metal washers under the flange of the magswitches to take up that space and all is good with the world again. I love these guides and how well they work. They improve accuracy and safety for cutting sheet goods. This design also allows me to move these guides to diiferent table saws by making a specific jig for that machine and not having to buy another set of guides. Yes, they are expensive but well worth the money, thanks for sharing and a special shout out to all the other students of KZread University........GO TUBERS!!

Matt, as mentioned down below, I use a standard push stick that came with my Delta to push narrower pieces through the saw when I have the rollers engaged. I will push on the end once the board is past the first roller and turn the push stick sideways until it passes completely through the first roller and is caught by the second. Once it's through the first, I then take the push stick and push normally from the top. Works well for me and still do not have to worry about kickback. Best item I've ever put on my saw. Invaluable with sheet goods as you pointed out. Thanks for sharing.

Love this table saw accessory. Also I’ve used the chrome orange saw blades recommended by you. I cut some 1” thick aluminum with the 12” and 10” blades while making a jig. They still have a great cut on hard woods, impressed, thanks for the recommendation and helping us find new and better tools.

You can do narrow stock with these. I do it all the time. The restriction you have shown is the safe use of a push stick. Just use a narrow push stick and push horizontally as the guides take care of pushing down and towards the fence. What I mean by narrow is thinner than the stock, in that way the push stick goes under the rollers when pushing the stock. I've cut stock less than 1" (25.4mm) wide safely. The only condition is that the stock is long enough to be controlled by at least one stock guide throughout the cut. If not I'll use the Grrripper.

I really love the way yours magnetically holds to your fence. GREAT JOB

I got mine a few weeks back, I was really surprised at how well it was made, even the included allen keys, hardware, and drill bit were far better than you normally see included. Would be cool for them to make a new mounting plate that already had 2 spots for the mag switches, but maybe they feel that's not as secure as using the 8 screws. It's probably a better buy, to buy a starter feather board kit with the two 150s.

Thank You for another great product review! That looks like a great product for cabinet table saws. I use the Bosch 4100XC-10 portable table saw in my small shop, what I find that works well to achieve the same outcome as the Jessem when cutting large sheets is the bow products fencepro. I never had a problem with the sheet coming off the fence since I found them.

Great video. I think for professionals like you, this is a no brainer. For us occasional users/hobby type people, a tracksaw with a guide that I already own is probably a little more cost effective. luckily for me I changed my fence out to a VSC fence which is extruded aluminum. These guides slide right in..no jig necessary.

8:46 mark in the video, it does pull away from the fence. I know it's still better than not using it, but it definitely pulls away.

I just bought a fully loaded 3hp Sawstop PCS 52” last week, Industrial Mobile Base, Overarm Dust Collector, Outfeed Table, and the Sliding Crosscut Table. Been waiting to assemble it, the mobile base is due to be delivered tomorrow. This is replacing my 3yr old Grizzly G0691. I already bought my Magswitches and plan on buying these roller guides this week. I never heard of those Jessem roller guides until about 2 weeks ago. Could these also be used on the outfeed side of a jointer? Especially with "warped" boards?

Great video Matt. I installed a set on my table with an Incra fence. Jessem makes an adapter kit to mount to the T-track of the Incra fence system. What a difference these make to holding your workpiece against the fence.

Great solution! Will these work with a SawStop Floating Overarm Dust Collector ?

I put a set of these Jesse Clear Cut Stock Guides on my Saw Stop and they are awesome. They draw the wood firmly against the fence and safety is greatly enhanced.

Loving the videos. I just purchased the Bow XT fence extender. Which I saw in one of your videos. Will these attach to the Bow Fence?

I have the JessEm Stock Guides and need to build this jig. Question, as the plans did not over it, what size screws did you use to mount the Guide to the plywood?

I’ve got a good bit of inch thick maple boards off of a woodworker for cheap. Not sure what I should make out of them. Any ideas?

@9:25 I didn't mind screwing it down. I think the one issue with the magswitch approach is that *if* there is a kick back, I don't know that the magswitch will have the holding power necessary to prevent the kickback. I have a feeling that the whole assembly will fly back. Also, they do make thin push sticks with handles that are offset and they work well for the Jessem setup. Finally, the build quality is awesome. And the drilling template is built right into the product. Pretty much idiot proof and very very accurate.

150lb magnets will. Anything smaller will not. I've tested it to some extent. (2) 150lb magnets is 300lbs of pulling force. the fence will come off first

@@Todd-W I'll be the first to say that kickback is unlikely using this tool. And the Jessum coming off even more unlikely. So this is more theoretical than practical. But there is a key point that people should consider. If there is a kick back event, the force being acted upon is *not* normal to the saw table. Unfortunately, that's the core strength of the magswitch devices. It prevents lifting of the magnets (normal to the table). Magnets do a poor job is preventing lateral movement - 90deg turned from normal force. In other words, in an (unlikely) kick back, the force being acted on will be more horizontal than vertical. It'll slide (shoot) off the table rather than fly into the air vertically. So magswitches wouldn't really hold since they are meant to hold vertical (normal) forces and not horizontal. You can slide the magswitches much easier than lift them. I guess I should have just said that! :)

Can use a feather board on the front to push stock through, guides on the back...I assume anyway...these are next for my saw...

I did the same as you Matt. Couldn’t get myself to drill into my fence. I don’t even allow anyone to place their hands on cast iron tops.😄 These guides have definitely helped me step my game up with carcass builds. Good stuff. 🤛🏽🙏🏽🇺🇸

Old video but a setting question. Is there any benefit in setting the wheels further away from the fence? Seems that if you left them close it would always work fine.

Will these work on the new skill tablesaw you demonstrated. Forgive me I’m just starting to learn about woodworking

I understand not wanting to drill holes into the top of the fence or anywhere-especially on a new machine. At the time, your magswitch idea did not pop into my mind nor did I have or anticipate any “dream” fence accessories that would conflict with the t-track. The center of the fence is recessed sufficiently that little if any of it protrudes above the sides boards. I had one project where I needed to cut around 15 4x8 sheets of MDF into 3.25” wide strips 8’ long. Wow! I was so happy to have these JessEm guides! Like Matt stayed, they held the MDF tight t9 the fence. This is not so easy when you have to take several human steps to feed 8’ through. I had a helper that day, so the infeed guy did not need to push the trailing end through the maze that the guides inflict. The outfeed guy merely pulled the out. Yes, this an expensive accessory. I am not doing any woodworking for income purposes whereby I can consider it a deductible expense. But I was doing enough repetitive cuts out of sheet stock-and cuts that had to be accurate-that these guides were like having a second pair of hands. PS JessEm’s router table fence guides are are just as sweat. They are as much about being a second set of hands as the6 provide a significant degree of safety improvement. When routing a lot of lineal feet-especially long lengths-the guides can doing all the holding near the spinning bit with no need for fingers being nearby.

Can you tell me what kind of fence you have? I have an old bullet delta table saw and the fence is really nice but it is not very adaptable

I'd been looking at these for some time. Woodcraft had a big sale on them early this year. They didn't expect the demand. I was number 370 and didn't get removed until April. No problem. They're still not on the saw. I thought about a jig, like yours, but the top of my fence isn't steel. Jesse's quality, for allowing their products is superb. I have their router table, lift, slide, and stock guides (same idea for a router table). Top notch tools.

If you have a T-slot on the side of your table saw fence then you can use the router table version. I been using the router version for some time now.

Drilling into my SawStop fence is exactly why I never purchased these. Your idea is as simple as it is clever. Thanks for sharing.

This is my next purchase. I have and love thier router guides that do the same function.

All this time later it still hurts to see the mineral oil spill. I finally have a need to use my stock guides so I'll be taking them out of their box and building the jig for my SawStop. I've pulled the trigger on mag switches and will get them tomorrow.

Do the rollers have to be on the rail, or can I mount them directly to the board? The rail is too wide for my Delta fence, but the rollers will just slide in. Any recommendations? Maybe get a new fence?

Matt I think you should mount the aluminum bar to the fence as designed. It is always important to use a tool as the design engineers intended. Surely the mount screws are not that harad to remove. Then you do this video Well I placed the order as I do lot want these stock guides attached permanently to my fence either Also want to commend you on your restraint when the mineral spirits fell. I put a set on my saw stop a year ago. I cannot recommend them enough. It really does cut does on burning when cutting certain hardwoods as well as sheet goods.

I typically don't have an issue through cutting sheet goods, but low grade varieties make my dadoes very inconsistent. Anyone use this to tighten up the depth on those?

I have these on an incra TS-LS fence. The fence is on my 37 year old Craftsman cast iron contractor saw. I love it.

I have those router guides also, and if you have a T-slot on the side of your fence they work great with the table saw as well. Can't use them with narrow stock of course, but you also shouldn't need to. And if you don't have a T-slot on the side of your fence, make a clamp-on jig. Cheers!

Love the poster on the garage door!! Nothing like sitting across the dinner table from someone eating meat for dinner and telling me I'm wrong for hunting!!😉 And yes, I'm saving my pennies for a set of Jessem stock guides. For every pound of venison I harvest, i put the money I save on beef toward my woodworking hobby!!

I love your video Matt I own this guide rail to I love it. The way I push the wood through these is with a stick or a long narrow board, you lay it on the table and just push it through. You don't need a push stick you don't need any downward pressure or pressing it towards the fench, the guide rail will do that for you. I have a sugestion have you look at "very cool tools" table saw fence. It is wonderful plus Jessem has a attachment for that fence. Check it out

How does this compare to a feather board?

Have these on my Jet for well over a year, they are mounted to my fence with no issues. the two units can be total removed if they get in the way. I use a push stick with no handle for cutting thin stock. Love them, well worth the money but one needs to review the dimensions of the track with your table saw fence, I had to make some adjustments to my Jet fence to get the track to mount.

I've used these for a few years and they're exactly as good as you describe them to be; once you've used them you don't want to ever be without them. The one thing I'd argue with you about is the need for a jig; I installed mine on that same SawStop fence, and the thing is, if you just remove the blocks from the track, the track is really pretty low-profile and doesn't get in the way of anything else I'd want to be doing with the fence. That said, nice jig there; pretty sure a lot of folks will be interested in that option.

I’m in a wheelchair. I have a powermatic cabinet table saw. The height of me in my chair puts me directly in line for kickbacks. Which would shoot through my body like a bullet if bad enough. After adding these to my saw years ago I love them. Yes they are a pain on small stuff but you can’t put a price on your life. Just my opinion.

Need this immediately! I just about ruined a box build the other day. The box was taller than my sawblade, so to one whole side I had to turn the box 4 times and make a new cut each time. By the time I got to the end, it wasn’t even close to straight

Sure wish this would work with the Incra fence setup

It does and I've done it! Jessem sell a kit especially made to fit the Incra frence or you can build a jig similar to this one and attach it with T bolts

Are the 150lb magnets really necessary? Other similar videos recommend the 95lb ones, which cost less than half. I'm sure with the force from a possible kickback, the more the better, but is 150lb too much overkill?

I see that Amazon has the mag switch in different lbs. ratings. Do you know what strength you used?
