By far the best Japanese street food is neither taiyaki or takoyaki or okonomiyaki or tamagoyaki or art candy. The best Japanese street food by far... is ikayaki

Golden Darkness really made me interested in this food.

I used to get taiyaki from a stall at Japan Center ages ago wow this takes me back! The custard thing must be new, I only remember them having the sweet bean filling.

Hearing a person describing the texture of the fish somehow made it even more exciting to try this stuff. If I had the option, I'll start safe and try it with chocolate filling. I've never tasted the red bean paste that they are usually filled, but from what I read it sounds like it's just beans that are sweet. Custard wouldn't be a bad choice even though I don't remember the flavor right now
