-description from the publisher
Cunning Architects need to be mindful of more than just what’s within the boundaries of Rome, but what lies beyond them as well. The edges of the city, previously considered by your fellow Architects to be the least valuable real estate, are now connected to the outside world. Traveling merchants, diplomats, philosophers, soldiers, and vagabonds approach the gates, eager to exchange their knowledge and services! Control of Rome’s borders means control of untold riches entering the city.
In Roads of Fortune, players are rewarded for maintaining majority control over the edges of the play area by unlocking powerful new abilities on a variable set of Road boards. As the capstone expansion to the Foundations of Rome experience, the Roads are compatible with any combination of existing modules, including the Gardens of Ceres solo challenge. Roads of Fortune also features a number of quality life improvements, such as component tray upgrades and new player aids.

Glad to see another fan! It's in the background of our studio, and has been there since we got it. We call her Baby. She even has her own carrying case now, and the mat that is sooooo choice. Been painting them up I see!

I ordered this game in august 2022, and I just got it. It's the second printing including this expansion.

I'm with you: yes it's overproduced and that's why it looks AMAZING on the table! Also it is a well organized game that can be played with newbies and seasoned players with different levels of difficulties or tactics. Great game and very happy to have it in my collection (with the Roads of Fortune just arrived in my hands from the KS) ❤

Nice painted houses, who's done it, and is there any explanation to how?

Thank you for the comment. I just primed the buildings with a primer color close to the plastic color. Then painted the details with Citadel paints. Then used Citadel washes (earthshade for most of it). Then matte clear coat to protect them.

Color pattern used on your civic building? Or you simply used a Citadel contrast color or a speed color from the Army Painter?

Citadel base colors. Then citadel washes. (Thats what I already had). I haven't tried the army painter speed color. Is it any good?

I was on the fence with this game. It seemed like a cross between 1901 and Chinatown but i bit the bullet and bought it. After playing it, i see that wasn't too far off, but i absolutely love the game. If the scoring was a little more straight forward it would be a 10 but it takes some time to figure out scores in between eras. Also i thought it would be cool to paint the trees and water. After i did that, i started adding little details here and there. Finally i was pretty much committed and painted all the roofs and monuments. It's gorgeous. Also, the monuments are pretty much essential. I want a small card expansion with lots of crazy monument effects though. 9.5/10

Thank you for the comment! What color(s) did you paint the roofs? I've seen them painted the player colors but also the red terracotta.

@@rollingwiththebeard I did red clay roofs for the monuments and player colors for the players buildings. I liked the idea of simulating the real city but the player colors are visually distinct and pleasing and ultimately, I wanted to make the game easier to play. I think using red clay on every roof would make everything blend together and make differentiating pieces more difficult. I'm happy with my decision but I would understand someone going the other way. But at the end of the day it's a game and I want to play it more so I opted to make the game easier to play.

@@grog3514 that was my first thought. Making it easier to play by using the player colors however, does it really help playing? Most cases scoring dosnt matter who owns the building, just the building type. If you need to know say your income, that info is on your player board. I wish you could post a picture of your buildings!

@@rollingwiththebeard it does help actually. Whenever you score civic buildings it's really easy to tell which buildings you've already counted and run through scoring by player color. It's really noticeable in final scoring. If you post your Gmail here I'll send you some pictures.
