Great video. Thank you for focusing on your experience, not the specs. Last year I got the x100v as a travel camera and I love it. No more slowing down and missing shots because I don't know what lens use. My neck and back don't hurt from the weight of my DSLR. And it easily fits into my bag when I don't want it exposed.

A few tips here: Turn off the Bluetooth on the X100V, battery life increases a little. Use a lighting to SD card adapter. It is a lot faster to connect that little thing to download your pictures to your iPhone/iPad than getting a successful connection between devices. Anyway, file transfer speeds are noticeably faster from the reader than wireless and the SD card adapter is small and lightweight (you can keep it in the same bag with your X100V).

Every photographer MUST have it in the bag or the pocket. It’s the perfect camera but it’s the one that makes you feel you explore your creative zone. I recently upgrade my X-T3 for the X-H2 (it’s a really upgrade for me - no doubt) but I kept my X100F because I love it so much. I didn’t upgrade the V because I’ll miss the 4ways pad.

Manny, the most reliable way I’ve found to transfer jpegs to my iPhone is to go to Image Transfer Order when playing back your images on the camera, then select the photos you want to transfer on the camera, open the Fuji app, and then make sure you have Auto Transfer on. When you shut off the camera, all of those selected images will transfer to your phone. I’ve never had any luck with selecting the images from within the Fuji app. I’ve only had reliable success with the auto transfer feature from the camera. Hope this helps.

Now you've got me wantoing one. My first Fujifilm was the X100T, I I eventually sold it when I upgraded to an X-T2. I've always shot raw, but your mention of using the X100 purely as a JPG camera really sparked my interest. It makes it a very distinct experience from my X-T2, as you say, a camera to take with you everywhere, a big step up from a phone, & it seems to me more of a "play" experience than a "work" one.

I love the modern digital "compacts". I don't have a Fuji, but I do use a Sony RX1Rii, and have for 6 years. I love it, and still - today - it is such fun to use. I have been tempted by the Fuji X100 range, but, I like full frame and the dynamic range and croppability offered by the Sony. I also often print large format, so that is why I opted for the latter. But I respect the Fuji very much

Good tip regarding the use of the ND filter when moving back and forth between dark and light environments. I have assigned the ND on/off function to the click feature of the back command dial. With the hinged thumb rest attached all I have to do press my thumb against the rest to toggle the ND filter on and off.

For the Fuji remote app, on some of my devices I had to manually disconnect them from whatever WiFi network they were on to allow them to connect to the camera. This is because the camera runs a dedicated network to make a direct connection to the device on which the mobile app is being used. On most of my devices the network switch was transparent, but there were a few where I had to manually do a wifi disconnection first.

I tape a 1/4 CTS to that tiny flash, crank up the shutter speed and use it as fill to shoot against the sun. Works really well. Also I have found that just a little strip of black gaffers on the front of the camera where my finger tips rest, it helps with the grip quite a bit.

Great vid! Wonderful shoot with the 90's look. Thanks for sharing something so personal. I loved the colors, editing and moments with the family pictures. I use the X100V professionally as it is just more fun to use, meaning a less obtrusive experience. I do miss shots occasionally using it because I can't get the focus right, which sucks, but that is compensated by having intimate moments, a lack of bulk, a good looking camera and less pressure. I would love to have Sony autofocus on this but well, I guess I can't have everything. In low light the autofocus can really be a problem, whereas a fullframe would struggle a lot less. I use the TCL-100 on there too. It's a screw on lens that turns the 35mm equivalent into 50mm equivalent. Although it would seem like having a bulky lens adapter on there would defeat the purpose of portability, I love it because I can just bring that little piece of glass and then screw it on if I want to take serious portraits. So with all the features of the X100V and with that lens adapter in my bag it's a full on photo solution for portraits. PS: I think GxAce deserves a nod here for the B-roll inspiration ^^

The most advanced thing about this camera is that it uses a Leaf Shutter in the lens. So in flash photography, you can shoot from f2 at 1/2000 shutter mechanical, and at f4, you can shoot at 1/4000 mechanical (no need for High-Speed Sync). The only modern camera that uses a Leaf Shutter is the Hasselblad camera. I am currently I Fujifilm Camera user (X100V, XT-4, XH-1, GFX50SII, and GFX50R). I used Sony, Canon, Panasonic, and Olympus, and I like the Fujifilm ecosystem much better for my style of photography.

I have the Fuji X-100F and love it. I was unable to purchase the V because it was continually not available so I picked up the F. I carry it everywhere I go! I know from reading and watching videos that the V lens is sharper but I'm good with stopping down if I'm concerned about critical sharpness. I'll never part with this gem of a camera.

Just purchased a used X100V that came with a pile of accessories. I'm finding that nearly all of them, especially the lens hoods (I have three different ones) add bulk to the camera. One of the main reasons I bought the camera was because it was small and the lens, compared to the Leica Q, is way slimmer and compact. If I put all the accessories I have on the camera it pretty much grows to the size of my SLRs which is what I was getting away from. So far the only accessory I use with regularity is the Lens Mate thumb rest shown in this video. It is helpful and does not add much bulk or weight. Also, as a lifelong Nikon user, Fuji's user interface and menus are a bit perplexing. Some of it is because I'm not used to it but there are other aspects that are simply poorly implemented.

This video is EXACTLY how I feel about this camera. This is confirmation that I’m not bugging when I say the same.

beautifully done - i love my x100F hoping Fuji builds in IS next gen of this camera and of course keeps the flip screen that the ‘V’ version got 📷📸📷 Fuji!

The plan of focus corresponds to a 23mm focal length, not 35mm, since it's a 23mm lens. The crop sensor has nothing to do with how easy/hard it is to focus, it just crops.

I shot the X-T2, but sold to move into the full-frame world and use a more reliable portrait camera for my portrait work (A7III), but since I'd like to travel in the future more, and do some travel content, I'm gravitated toward Fuji again, just the X100 line. Love the X100V, but it's a bit pricey for just a fun, travel/street camera, so not sure. Maybe I'll go with the V or the F, but it seems ton of fun using, and really simple, which can make photography a fun stuff to do. And also pretty as heck. The X100 line and the X-Pro line by Fuji are the prettiest cameras ever

I don’t have the X100v but useDuracell third party batteries in my XT3, used them in my Canon cameras in the past too with no issues like I’ve had with others, I bought Ansmann ones and they tend to swell after only a short time, to the point they get stuck in the camera too but never had that with Duracell in over 10 years using them
