The court should _never_ have allowed Jeffs continued communication with his victim families and community. That was a _huge_ legal failing in this case. The psych ward is undoubtedly the correct assignment type for a holding facility, but his restrictions needed to comport with the crimes of which he was convicted from the beginning.

Yup and Warren needs to stop calling himself Immanuel. Immanuel is God's temple name to use it outside the temple is blasphemy and calling yourself Immanuel is also blasphemy. The day he called himself God is the day his closest supporters walked away from him. The Batemans were the first to leave and Sam Bateman is worse then Warren. Sam married his stepdaughter Josephine Barlow my cousin she is the one who spreads that doomsday nonsense on social media and throws rocks at reporters. Now she is locked up in the Maricopa Jail in Phoenix and she has Lori Vallow as her cellmate.

@@devdawg22 I know! We need STRONG anti-polygamy laws and public service announcements citing the problems of polygamy. From articles I've read, I see that polygamous cults are often involved in welfare fraud. That's a relatively easy crime to prosecute. Just doing more research on suspicious claims could land the masterminds in prison for RICCO violations (usually the men) the wives on a long probation with fines or community service. One of the saddest things is that these cults drive out young boys because they don't want them competing for brides. That's child neglect and abandonment. We can't allow these awful practices in our country, whether by religious cults, psychopathic men, or Muslim immigrants. Polygamy is against civilization!

The courts shouldn't overturn a precedent without overwhelming evidence.

The FLDS fascinate me - everything is so extreme. Sarah, thank you for telling your story. I’m extremely curious about how your mom had the insight and courage to get out. She sounds absolutely incredible; I’d love to hear her story as well. I’m so very glad you got to have a full four years in public school. My daughters are all encouraged to get educated, get a career, and live to their full potential. We don’t live in fear of a gentile world and we don’t artificially shelter them. There’s no secrecy, no mind control, no “protection” by controlling exposure to “the outside world,” none of the mind control stuff. Most of the kids go to regular public school their whole lives. There’s a diversity of thinking, freedom to choose your own spouse and life path, freedom of choice, etc. We fully live in the regular world. What you went through is so hard and yet you were able to understand in your mind the truth that was behind. What you went through is basically what happens in our society worldwide, and you are the perfect example to help us wake up to the fact that we are controlled by fear and people needing to feel powerful abusing others. What's wrong? Fear. What's missing? Love. I went through a very similar experience and it's taken me years to fully understand the damage and the consequences of all and to remember who I truly am, that I don't need to be told what to do and how to do it, and that I'm really free. Any criticism comes from fear and control, anybody telling us what we should or shouldn't do is out of love. We are precious, we are love, we don't need anybody to tell us how to live, we are free.

My kids and I are not religious, we are spiritual, but still believe in God. We do not go to church though or anything like that. You do not need to go to church to believe in God and talk to him or worship him. We do not do much of anything religious though. I do occasionally. The kids can choose what they want to be when they get older, but I would never push them to go to any religion.

Your mom showed incredible strength by doing what was best for you and her children. You are incredibly strong and what you are doing right now by talking and sharing is exactly what you would do in therapy so you are doing self therapy and I think it's amazing and you are so strong and don't ever let anyone stand in your way. Achieve your dreams because you are worth them. You are now one of my idols. I look up to you and I'm sure many other people do with it they are F LDS or not. I am not F LDS but the strength that you have is really idolizing

Thank you from here in London. That was very interesting. I followed a lot of the FLDS developments and books over the years. Best of luck. It sounds like the mother was very wise in getting those children she did out and keeping them away from the worst bits of the outside world too where people live and go off the rails. Well done to the stepfather too.

I've read so many books ..possibly I've read them all.The poverty is rarely spoke about .The sound of gravel is so shocking and tragic.Breaking free by her sibling as well is heartbreaking as to the sexual abuse. Many are f these men are so heartless and care nothing for the women in their lives.Utah has now made polygamy legal shockingly. Those women are so lonely and the children rarely have any relationship with their fathers

I am so happy you are having the opportunity to be yourself 🙏💞 I don't know what your relationship with God is now, but if you still feel close to God .. there are many many many of us who go through different experiences where we question why we had to live through that.. i think it is because we have the strength to be a voice for those who don't have the strength to speak up or break free.

The way you smile when you talk about your dad I am so happy that your mom was so brave and that more and more former FLDSR sharing their truth you may see it as rebelling, but personally, I see it as spreading awareness you could be potentially helping somebody else make the choice to leave I can’t wait to see you post videos building your tiny house with your dog and see you modelling in ads in the future you got this ❤️

Thank-you for being so honest & letting yourself be vulnerable through the telling of your story. You are very brave. Continue to listen to your own voice, it serves you well! You are wise beyond your years. Here's a thought for you: There is no such thing as normal. Every family has problems and challenges. They are a part of life. "Normal" is not worth striving for. Normal is not safe, independant, secure etc.....Live the life that suits you. Let however that ends up looking be your normal. Some people are more flawed than others. Don't listen to anyone who tries to drag you down! Weak people try to control others. One method weak men use to control women is thru sex and in FLDS that benefit came via the exploitation of young girls. Women are not a commodity! Strong men don't sell their loyalty at the expense of children because they have integrity. Father was a "bad" person, raised by a "bad' person. He had a choice, but he didn't choose to leave. His immoral actions undertaken in pursuit of power were his just downfall.

Good for you that you are considering therapy. I would recommend a therapist with FLDS or LDS history but also left possibly at an age close to the age you left. And remember, you can interview therapists and if it does not feel like a good fit then don’t feel bad if you do not chose to go on with them. And always look up their credentials and reviews if those are available. It is a good idea to go into therapy with some goals in mind.
